I’m debating on a PSA vs a RF. Reason being is I want a rifle that I’m going to be happy with shooting - but also I’ll be okay with leaving in the safe for months on end due to work and adult life, not having much time to go to the range or practice for when SHTF. Thanks

A small but very important thing that you consistently do is to revisit familiar terms and definitions for sake of the new kids (here, HP/MP testing description). Review doesn’t hurt us oldsters at all (I certainly benefit), but making a point of never leaving the new students behind is the trademark of a gifted educator. Color me impressed.

Great review, lot's of great details on the rail I have noticed with other rails from other manufacturers also, not only that some scope mounts have play and about the only remedy is to get other ones of push them tight to the front and then torque them to the specified spec and maybe some prying will help so that they stay put and maintain proper alignment without having to over-torque. Bummer!

My radical firearms 300 blackout is around 3 years old and has close to 4k rounds through it. It came overgassed and I had to end up reconfigure the buffer to an h2 (came as a carbine buffer). Other than that it has been great. I got a nicer rail on sale (also a radical firearms rail) and put it on and I also put a Geissele trigger in. It has not given me any trouble since after the first couple times shooting it where I decided it needed the heavier buffer. I have put 3 deer in the freezer with it too.

So glad mine has the dimpled bolt catch, forward assist and mag release like yours. Another thing is my handguard is the FGR. I can't find anything about that handguard. It's simple but I like the look of it too much to change it out.
I wouldn't think twice about buying another one or five from them. So don't worry about purchasing this AR, clean it good and run it wet when you first get it. It's new and has tight tolerances and needs broke in to run smooth like mine does.

Ive had this for about a year now. Slowly been converting my m16a2 match rifle over to a more multi purpose setup. It has a red dot flip up irons flashlight and magpul hand stop and adjustable stock. My lower is a milspec cmmg parts kit and a tactical machining lower receiver. I finally got to the range today. Burned through 6 30 round magazines with no malfunctions. Sighted in my dot and my irons were already perfect. It was a 20 yard range but this definitely outshoots me on my best day. Holes through holes from the bench rest. And zero malfunctions. Inspected the brass randomly when I was sweeping and didn't see anything suspect. It just runs man. All I could ever ask for out of a rifle. This is the best setup Ive shot personally. I would take my lower over any off the shelf build. I might get an ambi safety and reptilia cqg but that's all I would change.

If a product has issues, we need to know about it so we can make better purchasing decisions and the manufacturer needs to know so they can address the problems. I don't think calls from consumers to the manufacturers are very effective at getting product revisions as a high profile video on the internet is! You are doing us a favor by revealing problems with these guns.

I have one coming in that I landed on GunBroker for $512 with tax and fees! It's my first AR platform build and even though I know a lot about rifles now after building a 10mm carbine, I'm very happy to start on the budget side but with great performance to match!

300 blk gas block walked after the first range trip and the hand guard screws were seized and stripped out when I tried to remove them. Radical told me to pound sand. Barrel threading has a rounded shoulder too, so fitting crush washers is weird. It was very cheap though.

Just picked up one of these from the local shop - I really like the build-quality/fit-and-finish, especially at this price point. This thing feels better than the M-16 I was issued at Fort Jackson.
at 9:50 in this video, you mention that the 1913 rail seems undersized. I just checked mine with a micrometer, and got readings between .08341" and .08355" between the edges of the bevel. The sectional drawings I can find for this all call for .0835" +- .005". Not sure if you got a bad cut, or I got a good one, but mine reads within 1 thou of spec, which seems pretty good for a part that only calls for 5 thou tolerance.

My old roommate contacted me because his younger brother is of age wanting to buy an AR-15 and had around 1200 he wanted to sink into a AR. I steered him to RF because (1)The quality control has really came together since I first bought my RF in 2015, (2) because I own BCM, Colt and Stag builds along with a few budget oriented builds that use RF uppers and lowers and for the cost RF is closer to a BCM fit and finish than my PSA’s, but just slightly. I don’t feel bad or regretting being the reason why he saved some money or why his first AR was a RF.

I have a 2016 Radical Firearms LEO with a custom ordered 15" FGS Round-Rail. The only upgrade that I have made to the Carbine itself is swapping the generic butt-stock to a Magpul MOE SL. I have put over 2000 rds through it both 5.56 and .223 in pretty much every grain weight and quality. Never ever had a fail of any kind. Funny story, at first I was convinced that the FGS rail had to be really heavy. I swore it felt muzzle heavy. I pulled the 15" Round-Rail off and it's extremely light and with it off I could see the incredible QC and engineering that goes into it. The issue was in my head because the rail looks so beefy. The Carbine is really wicked looking as well; and after 30+ trips to my favorite range it has never failed to get positive comments or compliments on how badass yet comfortable it looks. It is an absolute pleasure to shoot. I also paid only $445.00 for it in '16! RF has so much more to offer now, I am itching for a Suppressed .300BLK build. Radical Firearms is the best bang for the buck out there IMHO.

I ordered a Radical Firearms barrel on OpticsPlanet. Two months so far and it has not shipped yet. When I asked OpticsPlanet for an update on my order about 4 weeks ago, they said that the supplier had not sent them out yet. This is my first experience with Radical Firearms so far and its left a sour taste in my mouth, considering its the last thing I need to finish my first rifle. I think at this point I am just going to buy a barrel from a local shop and see if I can cancel that part of my order since it has not shipped yet.

I have a Radical upper which I bought in 2016 or 2017. It doesn't see a lot of use compared to a lot of CZcamsrs but I do have a few different rifles. So far it's on par with my Windham. Stag Arm and PSA build. I would say if anything the Stag Arms is the most accurate out of them but there isn't much in it for my use. Still I've had zero problems. I banged it up once pretty hard slipping on some rocks and the red dot on the rail held zero.
The Socom is a midlength built on an Anderson lower with a PSA EPT trigger. It is smoother shooting than the others. Anything I buy/build moving forward will be midlength.

  • @game7win596

My first AR I ever built/got was using an radical upper. It had a couple minor issues such as screws being to short so the hand guard started coming loose. Radical immediately sent longer screws out for free and I got them next day. The gas block also walked off, I re tightened it and added thread locker, otherwise that’s the only issues I’ve ever had with it and I’ve put over 2000+ easily through it.
As a budget upper/ rifle it’s really not horrible. Hell they have these uppers on sale for $159 sometimes lol I think it’s a good rifle/upper to throw in the safe for a rainy day or to arm a few of your peeps if SHTF haha.
