Hello guys,
In this tutorial, I want to share a simple trick for making Interlaced Geometric Patterns using the pattern maker option in Adobe Illustrator.
Geometric Interlaced Patterns are often used in Islamic Geometric Patterns, from very simple crossing and repetition patterns to very complex patterns. In this tutorial, I use rectangle, circle, and hexagon as a basic example.

there was no mathematical theory when I designed it, just playing with numbers. There may be a theory to compile these patterns, but I'm too lazy to look for them. 😁

Amazing and easy to make.but how these calculations are made?
My shape builder too is created a lot of useless points which results in some janky corners. Is there any setting I can change to get cleaner paths with shape builder like you have?

Double click on swatches pattern, and select the pattern shape then change the color.
Great video!!! But i can't make this circle pattern, I tried several times but lines are jagged and it looks not perfect. Please can you help me to fix it ?
I dont know if you do in different size of the circle. In tutorial I make 180*180pt circle and add the stroke thickness 20pt. Just do in multiple size if you want to get the same result.

Why you used compound path??
If you just group the pattern object and make it pattern, in the pattern maker the object will be ungroup.
