    Dave, you know a good test would be to make two sets next to each other on the same day. One with gloves and with out gloves and see what set gets a hit first and how many hits it gets.

    Dave, I'm trying to find the video where you extract the urine from a dead coyote bladder after you skinned it, is there one or am I imagining the whole thing??

    You might want to use a small twig/branch to clear the bigger chunks when you are sifting, after you've set that trap.. I'd hate to see you chomp your hands!! Hands are too useful in survival!! Be safe, awesome channel, keep up the good work!!

    Hey I have a question about the pathfinder school where exactly is it. Second how much does it cost to participate in the classes

    • @DavidCanterbury
      @DavidCanterbury  Před 7 lety +1

      Ohio and you can check our website for schedules and cost as all classes are different

  • @DustySmalls
    @DustySmalls Před 5 lety

    No gloves?

  • @dlvmark
    @dlvmark Před 7 lety +1

    Little surprised to see you not wearing gloves. I would wear gloves to try to keep my scent down and use one not q-tip with lure sticking up in the dirt to bring in the shy ones. You could get a Bobcat too, but there are better sets for cats...

    • @DavidCanterbury
      @DavidCanterbury  Před 7 lety +2

      I have never worn gloves since going to the FTA Class except if needed for cold, predators in Farm country are use to those smells, I do often just place the lure on a stick or Q standing above the hole as well, just depends on my mood I guess LOL

      selfrelianceoutfittrers

    • @jasonmillar8945
      @jasonmillar8945 Před 7 lety

      Could you just use ordinary sheep wool you find on barbed wire fences

    • @Schnot
      @Schnot Před 7 lety

      Jason Millar Yes you could. The kind we use on the trap lines is the scraps and junk left over from shearing. It's unwashed so it still smells like a sheep. It holds the bait well and gives the animal something to see in the hole that looks like a nest. Keeps them interested and working the set.

    Could you please give me a good explanation, which I can tell others why trapping for fur is good? How can someone love wildlife and still trap. great video though, keep em coming

    • @DavidCanterbury
      @DavidCanterbury  Před 7 lety +5

      Coyote have NO natural predators if allowed to breed freely with no regulation by hunting or trapping they can quickly wipe out populations of things like Turkey, Pheasant, Quail, Rabbits etc....

    • @ivanmoody7634
      @ivanmoody7634 Před 7 lety

      wildernessoutfitters big time!!!!! I live in Maine and coyotes have destroyed the rabbit and grouse population around my place

    • @dlvmark
      @dlvmark Před 7 lety

      Jason Millar It's about balance, control the predators ant it helps the little fury animals grow and multiply.

    • @jasonmillar8945
      @jasonmillar8945 Před 7 lety

    • @dlvmark
      @dlvmark Před 7 lety

      The trap wouldn't hurt your hand if it got in it.

  • @IvanZehirov
    @IvanZehirov Před 7 lety +1

    Traps are horrible..So many idiots are watching vids in youtube dont teach them how to hurt animals ..Your other vids are very good

    • @DavidCanterbury
      @DavidCanterbury  Před 7 lety +12

      I will not have an anti trapper conversation here as proper research would show you that your opinions are wrong. But you cannot practice any skill when you actually need it, so learning and understanding trapping is very important for self reliance and have been done for thousands of years for that reason. I have seen raccoon with 2 hands in 2 separate traps how do you figure that happened? Cause he wasn't hurt enough in one to stop him from eating out of the other maybe>
