As a scoutmaster I appreciate the creation of this video for useful woodcraft projects. Some of the woodcarving and crafting projects within the scouting program are useless or lame. This is a great place for a scout to start, along with the corresponding safety videos. This will be the program for our next troop campout.
Excellent video. I purchased a 511 for my Cub Scout aged son and used this video to teach him.
I'd say a decent bastard file.
Excellent thanks
Great vid
Excellent video! Just Subscribed!!
Tape measure
Electricians screwdrive, some connector blocks and insulation tape. And duct/duck/gaffa tape
It is good to stop by and see you still leading the Common Man forward. Thank you for being true to your mission.
Dave I learned navigation without a compass. There is an area near me that was where they surface mined iron ore. This is a rather large unihabitad area of second growth. As you walk through one minute the compass is pointing to the right. A few steps later it's pointing left. And there a few places where it just circles. So I learned diffrent methods. Now would I go into a new area without one. No way. Your 10 C method was and still is to make a newbee think. By giving a frame to work with. My own basic philosophy is when a biut confused. I sit down and draw an X on the ground. I am here. Therefore I'm not lost. You or the rest of the world is. Now I am searching for you. Quibling over details of I'm rigth your wrong is purely stupid. The way toi learn and teach is to sit down and see how others do it. What work for one doesn't always work foor another. You seem to have the right way onf thinking. If the other guy has a better way you adopt it.
I enjoy your videos, Dave. I made heart tack and had a little salt in it also. I dip it in my coffee to soften it up and it seems salt keeps you coming back for more.
Awesome idea I’m about to go get me a few scrapers
Great video!
A tape measure or ruler. Remember measure twice cut once. Is there a saw that will fit and be practical?
Great video!
Your sparkplug wrench is a plumbers bell and is waaaay too big for a spark plug

Measuring tape, small standard socket set 3/8 drive that will fit in ammo box, and a file.
great video thankyou very much sir
Thankx Dave
Files
Pipe wrech, zips ties
Vice grips, some stainless or other wire, thin copper wire, a folding set of Allen wrenches, box cutter and extra blades, a small pry bar, some 3 in 1 oil, an awl or ice pick, maybe some bits of sandpaper or steel wool, a small gunsmith set of screwdrivers that has Allen and star bits included(I’m a gunsmith by trade and my good screwdriver sets always seem to follow me for field repairs and they are infinitely useful)
many great additions in the list, the only one I'd add but didn't see already mentioned - a small ratchet strap.
Such a fantastic improvement !
Hi Dave, massive thanks to you and the team for the class. I got back to the U.K. today, looking forward to coming back for intermediate in September. To anyone international who is thinking of going to train, it’s definitely worth the investment. You’ll come away knackered but levelled up for sure.
So cool, I was in this class! What an experience it was!
How about a torch?
Just an update on Declination. The Declination listed for Ohio is 6 degrees Mag, the 7 degrees on Electronics comes from 1 degree of added Declination from True North making a total of 7 degrees so the My Topo map is correct in the diagram
Maybe a socket set with at least most common sockets. Painters tool ( multi uses). Electrical tape
I'm moving to Kentucky with my family and hoping I can close the gap between where I live and the eastern woodlands to finally one day get the opportunity to take survival courses at the Pathfinder School.
Замечательная альтернатива использумым повсеместно резиновым шнурам. Спасибо за хорошую идею!
How do you pace count mounted on a horse or mule? I have gps devices but I’d like to learn how to navigate a usgs map with a compass
I see you are a traveling man. So am I
Can't exactly get used, but I would totally include some electrical tape, tie wire, and zip ties.
Duct-type tape; measuring devices - tape, straight edge, and mic; carpenter's/combination square with level; folding saw; rivet tool; metal snips; razor knife; flashlight; hand drill; magnet; eye pro; file; sharpie; gloves, and a shitload of advil ;)
Gold standard in Bushcraft and survival skills.🏆
Thanx
Looks lake a great course. . I got my survival training courtesy of the USAF, well it took me six years to pay it back. 😄 Actually I’m still learning via Dave’s and others videos.
Looks like a great class!!
Sidecutters, tinsnips, axe file, hacksaw & a roll of mechanics wire
Thanks Dave
Are you and the pathfinder school, part of the survival mastery group corporal's corner has been advertising on his channel.
Not hardly
I would add a roll of mechanics wire, a claw hammer, a vice grip and a side cutter. You can do most anything with the tools you have and those additions. I like you concept here.
A one inch chisel, and possibly a brace and bit with a few bits of if I could find one to fit the can
That pack dump and repack drill is a great training idea!
Wow, the dude flew from freaking England to take a class!!! I hope he passed or got a patch or whatever! Awesome.
Great video, Dave! I like to search yard sales for tools as well. You can find great tools for very cheap, especially at estate sales. I especially like to buy Craftsman tools. If they break, they are backed with a lifetime warrantee. Even though Sears has closed, Lowe's carries Craftsman tools and will honor the warrantee. As far as additional tools, I was able to find a used socket wrench set, opened closed end wrench set, vice grips, and auto fuses. I was also lucky enough to find a used truck bed storage container to keep all of my just in case goodies. I currently have these tools in a tool bag, but after this video, I like to ammo box idea better. All the best to you, Dave! Keep those great videos rolling!! Tommy
Dave have you ever run across the Slatt's Rescue Belt?
