i cant really begin to express just how bad it feels to play this champ now.... first they gut ap burst with the durability patch, then 2 patches later ad bruiser kat gets nerfed to the ground and they tell you to "just build ap its good". did u forget what u did to that build 2 patches ago? and thats ignoring the fact maw, dd and exhaust are so prevalent in the meta rn. and no im not a silver player complaining bc i got gapped, im master 300lp on euw and its so sad how much easier games are when i just pick a different champ entirely. also imo one more thing thats an indicator of how terrible katarinas state is and how they fked up her entire premise is checking how many pentakills a champion gets on avg per game, kat went from #1 most pentas a couple seasons back to #3 in season 11 (behind samira and yi) to now #7, getting passed by a new champ every patch. you'd think as the quote on quote "queen of resets" she'd get the most pentakills out of all champs right? and thats why ud wanna pick her up in the first place: multikills and pop offs. but that doesnt happen much anymore and for a while i thought it was just me playing bad or imagining things, but the stats back it up. and still riot claims theyre changing her to "bring her closer to her core fantasy" which shes further away from than ever before.
lol yeah everything u said is how i feel too. shes literally only fun and viable in low elo so i just mess around with different builds and have fun with kraken and stuff, but climbing is a different story when ur pretty much useless early game and others will most likely flame u for the champ being useless xD. Its a shame because Kata is the most enjoyable champ imo cuz of outplays, pop offs and pentakills like u said.

Kat is really F right now. She already has bad laning phase, no cool things such as Invisible, Untargetable, CC or even Slow effect in her kit compare to other assasins, only rely on her reset and mobility which is predictable. Now she cant even 1 shot anyone mid game now. The Elec + Lichbane are the only things that give me the FEELING that Kat is still an Assasin, focusing on how to kill someone as fast as possible, then jump out, even though it is not the strongest build. I dont dislike the AD AS build, it give me the opportunity to fix things with the auto attack if I mess up my combos. But as mentioned, with this kind of build late game, Kat is out-tanky by bruisers, out- damage by assasins. She really need a buff to be put in place. Importantly, the buff need to put AP Kat stronger than AD Kat late game.
I've been playing a couple of games this past few day and must say having to fully channel my ult to barely kill an adc when I have 3 items just feels wrong. I don't get why they did all this when the meta had already face out asassins thanks to patch 12.10. And she isn't even one of the most oppressive champs in the game.
Im pretty sure I know...afk farm mid / look for roams / get nashor and deal 1800 with single R + 300g from first strike / proceed to buy anything cause this champ can be even played with lethality / write everywhere how useless kat is and keep crying while anyone with working keyboard are hardstucking 80%+ wr with 100k dmg per second
@@polar6826 i prefer ap kata build because its easier to build magic penetration but we can all agree that kata needs serious buffs now because she is unplayable without 3 items
I have been rushing bork on my main for the past month, but with the ad nerfs I’m unsure how good that is anymore. So I can’t really answer bork + nash because idk if the bork is worth it. I liked lichbane before the durability update but now I think you won’t have enough damage/burst unless you are really popping off. Elec is prob still worth it over first strike in some matchups but I need to try first strike more
@Kathawk i agree, its not as good as before where you can literally 100-0 solo kill level 3 some champs, but in the right moments and opportunities (e.g. skirmishes with jungler) it can still be great if you know how to hit your aa's.
Maybe giving up on burst Katarina and going Nashors + Tank Item first might be better now haha Mythic obv. Rocketbelt, ain' no way you're doing damage otherwise, Magic Pen is a must now.
I guess they changed that? I've been playing for years. They reworked runes a like 5 years ago. Before you couldn't change runes in champ select so you better have enough pages already setup XD so I got as many as I could. I can make like 15 or 20
It's not even fun to play Kata anymore, it's just frustrating. The amount of effort it takes to find success is just not worth the reward anymore. Sure, every once in a while you get a really nice outplay that looks flashy and cool, but then you realize, you could of done the same thing on 90% of the other champions with a fraction of the amount of effort, none of the risk, and all of the reward.... Just not worth it anymore. Kata has to play GrandMaster Chess just to be in the same playing field as the champions playing elementary checkers.

League of legends be like 90% combat time = ur stunned
Kata with first strike against non-poking champs is really good (full ap maybe divine if enemy has a lot of tanks/bruisers)
They need to buff ap and they probably will buff ap build champion is literally unplayable
