Brando & leigh had the best scenes u cant take ur eyes off them. She is playing her role so well & in an older style matching the old south where Brando brought in a new style of the method acting which works perfectly with the new south theme. What I love about leigh's performance is when she is lying she speaks in that whimsical high tone. When she gets down to the truth with mitch her voice becomes deeper. Great actress
I am just flabbergasted by miss vivien’s performance , this ladies and gentleman this is acting , her movements her words her articulation her gestures her tone , and the way she delivered every line with such power and conviction is just breathtaking she used every single atom of humanity with her to bring this magnificent role to life , I can’t help but feel sorry for poor Blanche , she was just a lost soul that looked for love in all the wrong places and ended up with a drinking problem and mental disorders
There are so many great scenes in this one of a kind film. This scene is one of my favorites. Brando is powerful and charismatic, but it is Leigh who casts the spell. I almost feel like we are watching Leigh having a nervous breakdown here. She does so many incredible things. Blanche is in no way a match for Stanley. And I never noticed this until recently, but the quiet, almost imperceptible "thank you" that comes from Blanche near the end is heartbreaking. She is just too soft for this world.

And back in the 1950's men were stomping over model cities in rubber monster costumes, I can't really appreciate your point when so-called "bottom of the barrel" entertainment has existed from the earliest days of cinema. The more things change, the more they stay the same. There are plenty of modern dramas that while not quite as good (probably because this has the benefit of being adapted from one of the greatest plays ever written) certainly come close to the sublime qualities of Streetcar. If you think films aren't as good nowadays, then you're not looking in the right places, because if the mainstream doesn't have it, then the independent scene will. Marvel is obviously cookie-cutter, no one is denying that, but people clearly enjoy them regardless, it's audience demand that keeps these films coming out 2-3 times a year.

I've never seen this film but only seen snippets.....Even so, i get the impression it's likely an oldy but goldy.
