    As an irish person, if you think Terminal 2 is crowded, good lord Terminal 1 is like a feral french riot. All the budget airlines fly from Terminal 1. the things i've seen there have scarred me for life

    Aer Lingus’ first class service from the 70s and 80s was one of the best in the business- Irish Linen table cloths and napkins with porcelain napkin, rings, full size, Waterford, crystal wine, glasses, and water glasses you would order your dinner in the upstairs lounge and then go down to your seat and they would have it all set up and prepared and then the 3 flight attendants would come by with the dinner trolley with the roast beef, stuffed lobster tail, baby rack of lamb, assorted vegetables and potato gratin with fresh baked bread and incredible wine selection. It really was very well done to the last detail.

    Pre-clearance is what gives Aer Lingus an advantage over other European carriers. I took it once and feel like it's a "must" travel on. Also, I did not have to travel to London to catch my flight as there was a flight available from where I lived in the UK previously.
    I think the throne seat works well if you're travelling alone.
    But a big black eye is paying for wi-fi at full price when in business class. There needs to be at least a discount of sorts and €22+ for a 10+-hour flight is too expensive in today's world.
    Another issue I have is that you should be given a second full meal for that length, not a light snack like the one shown.

      Given that I live in Manchester, if I was going to LAX or SFO, I would use my national carrier Aer Lingus to use the US pre-clearance at Dublin on the connecting flights from Manchester or Liverpool as I still hold an Irish passport in the 21 years I’ve lived in the U.K. - I don’t think I’d use it at Shannon though, unless I was flying from London Heathrow

    In the past few years, Aer Lingus’ services from Manchester and Liverpool (nearer to where I live in Manchester, with direct rail connections from Manchester Victoria to Liverpool Parkway, in some cases all the way into Liverpool Lime St and Merseyrail out to Parkway despite passing right by that station without stopping, especially on Northern Rail) seems to have fallen down a little bit - on arrival in Dublin, despite there being direct Bus Éireann coaches to Navan (as my family live in Dunshaughlin Co Meath) even outside of peak hours, the traffic around Dublin Airport is so heavy that on departure from Dublin Airport it can take an hour to reach the N2 just south of Ashbourne, even when using the perimeter roads near St Margaret’s, but once into Rathoath it’s a clear run into Dunshaughlin - not being able to bring a large suitcase as checked baggage is one reason why I’ve used the SailRail ferries via Chester and Holyhead to Dublin instead or I’d hop on one of the cruise ships from Liverpool to Dublin

I fly EI LPL-DUB frequently on trips to Dublin (I have to go to Dublin 3-4x/year on business) because their product and overall experience is loads better than FR. I wish EI's LPL flight schedules were moved to allow for connections to the USA - my parents and brother live in the USA and I can't fly EI to/from LPL without overnighting in Dublin.

    Pre-clearance from Dublin is an absolute bonus and it prevents me from considering flights to USA from other European destinations originating from Ireland that may be cheaper than flying directly from Ireland. Agree the gates to USA in Dublin can be crowded but the bonus of have been pre-cleared is so much better than queuing in an immigration line in US. You also mentioned the new Aer Lingus colour scheme - I hate it and wish the would retain the mostly green fuselarge colour- makes them look like any other airlone as most seem now tobe going mostly white

    • @PatrickSheaAviation
      @PatrickSheaAviation  Před 11 měsíci +3

      I will miss the all green fuselages of Aer Lingus, but I guess IAG feels differently. I also love the Preclearance. It also makes connections much easier in the US

    • @fabianmckenna8197
      @fabianmckenna8197 Před 10 měsíci +2

      Pre clearance is absolute bliss. We make the yearly trip to visit family spending up to three hours in US immigration and it took 15 years, to find Aer Lingus. Only economy class but that's fine, decent food, polite staff, what more do you want.

    Aer Lingus Business Class is the cheapest on the North Atlantic route; consequently it doesn't have the bells and whistles of most of the other carriers. Last time we flew it (DUB - MCO), it was cheaper than Delta's Premium Comfort Plus and a lot more private. We have flown Delta PCP but I'd pass that up any day for Aer Lingus business class. Plus; as the presenter states, you just can't beat the pre-clearance for convenience at the other end.

      I don’t remember the exact number right now, but it’s not that far in advance. It’s more like 2 or 3 hours prior to departure, but there is a big sign telling you if preclearance is open for your flight. Fortunately there are shops and restaurants outside of preclearance to hang out at and if you’re in business class you have the Aer Lingus lounge as well outside of preclearance
