As a photographer I spent a year plus doing nothing but free photo shoots for individuals that trusted me and had some social influence. Where do you think three years later the majority of my referral business comes from? You guessed it :)

Damn just had the aha moment, the first client I had was one referred to me by my friend to whom I was tired of doing free photoshoots.

Also remember you can give away some of your best work for free, but you can always re-package it into various content forms later down the road and sell it to the same people who actually read your free content a few months back - as long as you give immense free value FIRST - folk will eventually buy YOU, not the product as such (the basics of brand building)...so give your best work, feel great about that and get your message heard...shine your brilliance :)

I was reading some answers given on Quora as to why good writers on that platform seem to burn out and stop delivering after a certain length of engagement - it is exactly this reason, many of them expect their 'good work' to result in offers of contracts, to bring a 'return on investment'. We each expect a return on our investments, whether that be investments of time, writing good advice, offering solutions to problems. The digital platforms we have encourage skilled people to deliver, but at some point you are going to want a right hook to land. It is only human nature.

I've giving away my last 7 presentations as huge (JABS) however, its turned into large book sales on the other side from back of the room and amazon/iTunes. I've gotten to the point that I'm jabbing so much, I don't really need to set jab times - the sales are following my Jabs! The free presentations always turn into paid offers next time. Thanks @garyvee @GaryVeeShow

I Think It's Good to Do Something For Free, if You Don't Expect Anything in Return. Do It Because Your Heart's Into It ,Karma Makes 💩 Happen. If Your Intentions are Genuine and You Love To Do It Anyway? Why Not Help Out Someone. When You Do Something to Help Others and Your Good at it , Nature Should Take Care of You But if It's Doesn't Right Away its OK . It Will Come Back Your Way Eventually. I Think A Lot People Way Think Too Much of The " What's in It For Me " Kind of Attitude. Try to Be of Service to The World, your Strengths Should Get You Paid in The Long Run. Do it Because You ❤️ it 👍

So I should give some of my business card designs away for free?

Be strategic... You can show lots of "How to design cards for Free"
Do you think most people can do it by themselves... Remember they still need you hand in hand.
