This end scene is just showing that he is looking on humanity on the side keeping the promise with the Anti-Spiral(let me get the plot twist that is also poetic;Simon will end like anti-spiral over time because is an infinite cycle like an spiral, the lore is quite deep when you pay attention to some dialogues of what is the spiral and the anti-spiral).

This is my stand on the ending. It was a really sad yet hopeful ending and I just hope that all of them are reincarnated and have a happy life together in the future they all sacrificed for like the ending of Demon Slayer although I guess they are now Spiral Enerygy and it's guardians

I know I'm late but there is a rare manga clip where they do reunite and it's heartwarming. He appears at her grave and he returns to the age of their marriage before embracing one last time
Yeah no. Simon is immortal by the virtue of being the new Spiral King. Nia is a virtual life form. The fact that they met wasa huge coincidence. The beauty of the relationship lies in this fact itself that they met and stayed together for so long and yet an inconsequential amount of time.

Being immortal simply means that you would not die by the virtue of aging, expanding this it might also include not dying of any cause like injury, blood loss or disease or even starvation. You would however be damaged by injury causing events, lose muscle/body fat during starvation or feel weak when infected. you just simply wont die.

This is the first time someone said they can't die by any injury but die by aging.

he already expected that, it was inevitable, it still hurts but it doesn't impact as much
If you look at his eyes closely while she's disappearing, he looks like he's about to break down. There's a reason he doenst retrieve her ring after she dies, and why he doesnt turn around to catch it when Yoko throws it.

Then it shows the world happy and cuts to a scene after credits where simon nia and kamina are in the afterlife smiling next to eachother. That would’ve hit crazy

You know, I think some shows have really sad moments because that's what the author intended. For example, the second season of Made in the Abyss is coming out now and it breaks my heart more than once.
Indeed in the show is infered that basically simon got powers god like,but he understands life and acknowledge that bring death to live will only obstaculize the living ones, so he trascended far away anyone could thought and continues his life

He couldn't stop kamina's death, but had to learn that his death brought Nia and without Nia he wouldn't be the man he became. He was much more happy when she passed because he learned she'll always be with him no matter what and he was content with that. That itself is maturity.

Will always love both renditions of TTGL endings. Both are bittersweet, but the TV leans more on the bitter while the movies are sweeter especially since Simon walks the Earth to fulfill Nia's wish.
And no, Simon reviving Nia would totally ruin everything. They already knew this was coming before the final fight and I am glad it ended up this way. My personal favorite anime ending just after Zero Requiem.

Long ago when i firstly watched Gurren Lagann I cried while whole final like a little girl, but now, it just makes me smile.
Because I remember all those adventures that I watched.
and after years of perceiving the ending, I understand that it turned out to be wonderful, and the cliche in the form of a basic happy end would not have suited this anime at all.
Fyi he can revive Nia and Kamina and those who died with a flick of his finger but he doesnt want to risk it bc his power is the reason why theres anti-spiral.
Anti-spiral existed long before Simon was even born.
Like how spiral nemesis can born "suddenly", the anti-spiral or its ideal too can appear again. Simon and Nia knew this, and choose not to use the power

He began at the underground, worked with his bro together, fought to live at the surface, made so many friends, lost his bro, got depressed, but he got backed up, he began fighting for humanity, lost many people during the journey, at the very end, he is victorious against the huge threat to their universe but in exchange for lost his beloved and retired from piloting Gurren Laggan, and began living as a civilian. His character is a lot better than your generic shounen protagonists.
Too bad though, this anime is the only one that is so successful out of all the anime the studio have made.

@Nawaf MM he is more like a full jar, content with the life he lived and his accomplishments, more importantly the friends he made along the way.
He did everything. Avenge Kamina, freed the other humans to make their own choice out of their own will, stopped the Anti-Spirals, Save Nia, brought Rossiu back to his senses, and save the Universe. If anything, he just traveled all over the world and let the world grow on it's own because he already made the foundation, now it's the people's turn to thrive and become their own person.
He bacame a wandering God.

What? Of course it would make sense. Nia's death made no sense to begin with. She was born a human- if the Anti-Spirals can turn her into a "messenger" then Simon can definitely change her back, and he had literally zero reason not to.

Her father ruled the world with his army of beast men while the rest of the human lived underground like moles and worms.
He helped start a resistance with his buddy. After the Spiral King was defeated the human begun rebuilding

The biggest disappointment was the fan base and its blatant rejection of the core theme of this show. To never look back and to always dig our way to the future.
When promare brought back Kamina and the fan base celebrated it, I knew I was done with fandoms.
i hated how simon just left...
Wow, such a high-quality fan animation! It's a good thing this never happened in the original series, it would have just undercut Simon's victory and the show's themes of pushing for a better future rather than merely accepting a flawed present. Still, it's a really well made what-if, and I gotta give props to the creators for it!

Here’s a reason why this ending wasn’t perfectly executed. Nia was a virtual life form right? Which means that she has no soul so she won’t be reunited with Simon in the afterlife according to my beliefs. So unless another villain started abusing Spiral powers, Simon would never be able to bring her back. What makes it even more depressing was that Simon could never move on and ended up back as a digger in search of the next generation so, did I miss anything? Please let me know.
