Thank You- Photo Shop and InDesign have been the most challenging for me. I learned Illustrator first because everyone told me how hard it was. My thought was if I learned it the other 2 programs would be a piece of cake.. Not really. :)

Thank you for these tutorials. I have learned more in one year than the other 15 years of PS.

Thank you for everything you have given me. I use your brushes and overlays in almost everything I do and I always give you the credit you so richly deserve.

It would have even more useful to paint in an ellipse without hard edges - just soft and white - to demonstrate the value of blend modes. And applying blend modes to the butterflies would have yielded cool effects as well.

Really, I still have NO IDEA how to apply the Blending modes in an actual composition. I really don't see the need to create a white glow which obscures the image.

When you're on a layer in Ps, if you hover your cursor over the name of each blend mode (top of the Layers panel) you'll see how each successive blend mode changes the look of your image. If you see a look you like, click it to apply it. If it creates a look you like, but too intensely, you can lower the Opacity of the blend mode effect right next to the Blend Modes panel. A glowing look could add 'oomph' to beams of lighf from a lamp or street light or could add atmospheric effects to an outdoor scene....ditto, you can lower the Opacity to taste.
