Cultural Marxism

  • Cultural Marxism arose in the West when it became apparent that the working classes were unwilling to rise up in violent revolt as they had in Russian in 1917. Early cultural Marxists realized that to succeed in the West, you needed a Marxism that took into account Western ways of thinking. Their allies were those sympathetic to the French Revolution, and they appealed to the same concepts of liberty, equality, and fraternity that animated the French Revolutionaries.
But rather than an assault from without, the strategy was to subvert the West from within, through the so-called “long march through the institutions.” The West's commitment to progress made it the perfect carrier for a slow-moving transformative programme that began by identifying various opponents to liberty and equality, and anathematizing them.
The final stage of the process was in the work of Herbert Marcuse, who attacked the very tolerance that permitted dissent within the Anglosphere, arguing that this freedom was actually oppressive because it assumed a common ground of humanity (and a shared universe of meaning) between opponents. Whereas for Marcuse, it was this common ground of human nature and the human family that could no longer be tolerated if liberation were to take place. Thus began the Sexual revolution that had already been announced back in the 1930s by Wilhelm Reich.

Whenever somebody says Cultural Marxism imagine that they actually said sausages, it makes more sense.

Funny how if you say Cultural Marxism, it’s a conspiracy theory and makes no sense
But if you say “Western Marxism” it’s just everything that Cultural Marxism is but accepted en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Western_Marxism#:~:text=Western%20Marxism%20is%20a%20current,and%20the%20ascent%20of%20Leninism.

Literally what doesn’t make sense about Cultural Marxism other than the people you don’t like use that term?
You could use the term “Western Marxism” which is an accepted non controversial term and it refers to exactly the same thing

I'm not sure about your description that saying something is good or true is automatically attacked as fascist, because those critical thinkers will want to decide what is good and true. I think the point of critical theory is to question whether or not traditional labels and ideas are actually true or are based on misperceptions, not to condemn the idea that there is a truth.

As someone who a while back would have said the same, can I point you to C.S Lewis?
This fine Doctor speaks of him often. He, Lewis, is a prod from the north of Ireland, I'm a taig, born Catholic, from the same geographical area. As different as Jews and Arabs.
I've been anti the idea of a maker for most of my life.
C S Lewis gave me hope.
      And he's a prod!
Check out his Ranson trilogy, also known as his space trilogy.
