Thanks for the range test, good real world scenario. One of my kids is looking at university in DE so we might get to experience your beautiful weather in our ‘23 Niro EV
Aerodynamic drag is always the biggest factor, and colder air is more dense, and therefore higher drag in the cold.
Great choice of music as always 👍 Enjoyed the drive 🙂
Great test. It's good to see someone consider all the small details (GPS speed, margin tracking, etc)
most likely my next EV after the i3.
I love my 2022 Niro. It's perfect for the daily commute. Drove it from Buffalo to Orlando last summer (1100 miles/1700 km). It's comfortable and fun to drive. Love that you can reclaim a little mileage going down hills with the regenerative braking!
I agree, love ours too and it’s so reliable. 🇬🇧
1700km in a Eniro is a bit too much pain. It will take 5 more hours than in a Tesla
It's a nice little CUV for around town and can do a 500km trip pretty easily if you've got the patience. It's just weird to me that Kia didn't do more to improve the charging speed/time. Hopefully we can expect to see a charging test?
Same battery and cooling system, that is why
@@BatteryLife if that's the case, it's disappointing that they didn't leverage their 800v expertise and supply chain. The price delta between the Niro EV and EV6 is very narrow but the technology gap is huge.
Also ev6 are just too big!
@@anthonyc8499 Kia hardly earn any money on every ev6 sold, if the niro used same tech it had to basicaly cost the same.
I have a Niro ev and an ev6. It does feel a lot slower even on a 50kw charger, but a better route planner has only 30 min difference in charging to travel from Scotland to Southampton, so the charging speed is not a huge issue just feels it.
Would be interesting to do the same test in summer in optimum conditions. Guessing you have the heatpump option with it Chris?
Heatpump it is!
@@BatteryLife Totally jealous, Kia Australia would NEVER be that forward thinking.
Hi! Íd have two Questions:
- did the Kia have a heat pump?
- would your ID3 be comparable according the consumption under equal conditions?
Thanx
Yes, heat pump.
Id.3 similar consumption, less range
Is it really that much of a problem having the extra flaps covering the charge ports? If it’s extra protection I’m for it, are we really getting so lazy that we can’t pull them off and put them back after a charge?
I think it is needed.
If you had the opportunity to buy the Niro (4 trim) or the Ionic 5 (ultimate trim) for a similar price which wife you choose. I know the Ionic should be better, but we seem to prefer the Niro when viewing. Would value anyone's advice please.
Depends what you are doing with it. Long distance Ioniq 5 is better.
@BatteryLife thank you. Greetings from Wales, U.K.
For the retail price the Ionic should be a much better vehicle, however the handling and economy seemed better on the Niro. Slow rapid charging on the Niro is a concern, however we'll mostly be charging at home. Going to order one of them this weekend and unsure of which to go for?
wow the warning starts at 15% already? wow.
On some other cars it starts at 20%
Whoah that's a low range?? Is because you were doing 130km?
25kWh per 100km is pretty good at that speed with heating on and below 0. But I know what you mean lol
cold and fast, that's why
Never trust the GOM of kia/hyundai XD
Eniro was more efficient
