Very nice blind guys. Gotta say that if the TJBP is close to Blanton's, it would be a good substitute price wise here in So Cal. Blanton's starts at $120 here and goes up quickly from there, so a $40 passable substitute would be a steal. Don't hunt whisky in So Cal, it will break your wallet real fast.

Benchmark in a Rock Hill Farms bottle?
Agreed guys. I don't think you should hoard cases of the TJBP. Or pay secondary, which you are starting to see unbelievably. But I understand why you might want to get a bottle with a back-up or two, IF you like the profile. With white box products, there's no guarantee you'll see a second release of this. Nor do you have any certainty that the Batch #2 is going to be anything similar to this #1.
Cannot find Blantons or EH Taylor in our area of the Chicago suburbs, I happen to love 1792. Going to pass on Trader Joe's.

It could also be Benchmark FP which is a substandard product.
I was just going to type something to this effect. Would be interesting to have the Benchmark FP in the blind.
TJ has a habit of bringing in all kinds of surprises that come and go, including booze. Seems they have gradually become a bigger player in retailing booze as well. I think the pandemic helped push them in that direction. Guessing that because a lot of distributors were sitting on unsellable inventory when restaurants shut down, TJ offered to take a lot of this off their hands. Seems Costco was doing the same - a lot of great stuff was on their shelves too - Bardstown Disco, Calumet 15… Knowing TJ, they smelled blood and inevitably swung deals with these distributors whenever possible.
Respectable brands were on their shelves next to their store label stuff. Some of it was at SRP - Barrell @$89, and some was discounted - Hibiki Harmony @$55.
TJ now has been regularly carrying Woodford Reserve, Wild Turkey and Laphroig for months. Wouldn’t be a stretch to say that TJ has developed relations to the point where distillers put the word out that some extra barrels of this or that are looking for homes. TJ never passes up a good deal and has a knack for making lemonade out of lemons.

My recollection is T.J.'s had a barrel at the front door and a ladle. 3 dips to tha quart. Liquor to be funneled into nondescript bottles branded with a generic T.J.'s label. $29.99 per bottle.
Great review and dismantling of another weak product. I don’t get why people buy this or Benchmark. Young, weak bourbon, leave it on the shelf.
A lesson in bourbon marketing… Rock Hill Farms & Caribou Crossing bottle. I would have a trader Joe bottle on my shelf just to show people three identical bottles, three different juices. MARKETING

@@simpl3lang Even that's a lot. I buy liter bottles of Old Forester rye for 21 and usually get handles of Evan Williams of WT 101 for 30.

We wanted to compare it with things at or near the same proof point.
When Dutch grabbed the bottle, I thought for sure he was gonna pour 3 glasses.
How similar do you fellas think that is to benchmark full proof? That is also young and 125 proof
Haven't tried the comparison, but would make sense if it is similar.
Plot twist, It's actually a younger 1792 full proof.
They bottle an exact product for Liquor Barn stores in KY called Flatboat Full Proof 125. Was told it's sourced Barton.
