- Two well trained bengals out for a long walk. Cheeto and Kona are both large male bengal cats weighing just over 14 lbs. Updated, Kona is now 17 pounds, he likes to be thrown over your shoulder and carried like a heavy sack.

It's amazing to see them walking side by side. People we come across are very surprised to see cats on a leash let alone cats walking so well together. Handling them is a bit different than walking a dog. It just takes a light tug of the leash to keep them on course as they do get distracted by birds and the sound of lizards rustling in the bushes as we walk or run through the neighborhood.

How can you not love cats? Just amazing intelligent creatures.
because 98% of cats are not as obedient, cooperative, or disciplined as these two cats
+drummer703 because 99.9% of people don't know how to communicate with cats.
Andrea Franco That's a large percent. It's safe to say you are among them
You must be one of the people who mess with their cats. Making cats ''aggressive'' and thinking that is how they all are.
Andrea Franco And you must be one of those people who has horrible grammar.
Easily one of the coolest videos I've ever seen. Thanks for posting.
YOU ARE A WONDERFUL PET OWNER! It takes time & patience to do this, but it is so rewarding to the cats when you do. I am proud of you as a pet owner making sure your pets are able to enjoy the outdoors, all the while, keeping them safe.
Will Maybe Thanks so much.
I think too, that more people should try to walk their cat. So, they still have a proper outside life & are still safe. I walk my 2 cats since 8 years and they love it.
Lol, they are making them run 😂😂😂😂🏃😫. So cute
cats are way too intelligent for my taste. I have a scruffy mutt dog that eats its own vomit and is always happy to see me... right up my alley
LeRoy Jenkins lol
Lol
Lol
🤣🤣🤣
Lmfao😂🤣🤣
Awwww such pretty kitties
Looks more like they're taking you for a walk...
True, we follow and or pull a little as needed to keep them on track.
My Ragdoll was trained at 11 weeks. Slowly having his harness on at home, than outside before finally walking along the foothpath. He loves his walks and will often run up a tree trunk. Patience is required and the cat walks you at times.
Your two cats are beautifully cared for, their coats are silky and shiny.
People do stop to say to me they have never seen a cat on a leash.
I call him my Covid cat. His name is Lapis Lazuli because he has gorgeous blue eyes.
So great to see this! Just love Bengals! They are amazing kitties!
How cute 🥰🥰😻😻
Not even just walking... Jogging with them! Good work!
Your cats are beautiful ;)
Beautiful cats.
Wow stunning looking Cats. And they walk Nicely along together😇
Lovely cats 😻
Wow beautiful cats
Beautiful Bengals!
Thanks!
I wish I could train my Bengal like this. D:
You can, step 1 - buy an H type harness at the pet store. Let the cat smell it for a few days then put it on him. Provide food or something fun to play with for positive reenforcement.
This video makes me want to get another Bengal so badly !!
So cute to see the two cuties
How do they handle a barking dog, and how far can they go before tiring out?
Cats are able to walk for miles
Beautiful creatures!
thankyou
Is it just me, or do they walk like they own the sidewalk #catitude
Bengals are very bossy!
Ooooof this is a beautiful sight !! ❤️ well done
I love your kitties 💗
lol it's like trying to walk Navy Seals behind enemy lines with a leash - they're trying to be stealthy and hyperalert but mommy's got a collar on em
So cute
They are so beautiful and wild looking the way they slink along
jet active Thanks, its is cool how they are able to walk together. Try this video Cats take their owner for a walk (two leash trained cats)
wow they are pretty
Cheeto et Kona are very elegant and well mannered, congrats to the pet owner❤️
Wow...
BEAUTIFUL 💖
Thank you
Intresting breed , i supose to be litle expensive this two fellow. Beautiful , live long life !!
Beautiful
Lea Beer Thanks, they are a lot fun..
Beautiful Well behaved cats :)
This takes practice and cats can still get startled by dogs, they jump for low flying birds , air brakes from vehicles etc can freak a cat out.
Those cats very cute and rule train
I am training my Bengal to walk with the leash and it is a bit more difficult this time around. A lot has to with the personality of the cat. I am confident that one day will get it perfect. So one cat is a handful but two bengals at the same time is just amazing!
IMAGINE IF U SAW TWO CATS ON A LEAD ID DIE OF CUTENESS
They are incredible
Dee Money thanks
***** Don't take this the wrong way, but while I completely understand keeping BENGAL CATS on a leash (mainly b/c they'd likely be stolen by someone, if you let them roam by themselves), something strange about seeing a house cat on a leash.
Walking down a sidewalk looking like they're walking across the Serengeti.
Those are beautiful cats my female tabby Diamond was a natural with being leashed I would get people coming closer to see what I was walking not too many cats like it.
I got my bengal kitten I can't wait till she's a little bit older so I can harness train her.
I think the earlier the better. As kittens they accept and get used to things really easy.
@@agavejon haha yeah your right about that but I just got her so when she gets a little used to the house I'll do that thanks for the tip:)
Cats need catparks far more than dogs. Cats are more independent and likely to run off or get killed. So every cat is to be an indoor only animal unless he goes on a leash and/or gets taken to a small outdoor fenced in area from which he can't escape. No more dogparks because dogs don't need them. Catparks only.
Fairfaxcat Dogs need them more. Because they need the exercise more.
I walk my 2 cats in nature mostly off-leash, they follow like dogs. So cats don`t have to be on leash all the time, if trained right.
Dog are so much better at walking. They do stop, but not usually that much! I think they are so cute walking together.
Wouf wouff!! Sorry... meoooow ...
Thanks for the reply :) were in the backyard but occasionally when its quiet you can hear a car faintly, not always does he react, :) how do you get him used to louder noises? is it just 10 minutes now and again on the harness experiances some noises then come back home? :)
Mine loves to go out side for a walk everyday. But I can’t figure out how to get him to follow me. He just wants to run around trees or dive into the hedge bushes. Every deep puddle he can find he goes into them to play. Another thing that makes him unique is he will stand up on his hind legs looking into my neighbors window to give a meow shout out to their dog taco bell. It is so funny watching the two of them talk to each other.
Yeah it's hard to get them to follow on command. One of mine will (mostly) and one won't. I take Kona the black one out for walks now without a leash but not Cheeto. They have completely different temperaments.
I have a 16yr old female bengal, she's always been very petite...5lbs. Her sister was 18lbs We moved down to a 1st floor apt this summer and she decided that she wanted to go outside now.. I had already put just a cute little collar on her before moving to see if she would try to slip it and she left it alone, the week we moved in, I put a leash on her we went out in the evening when no one was around and started walking thru the hall... plus that was as far as she would go.. just up and down for about a week and a half... then after that she started sitting at the door to go out each night, then it was taking walks for 15-30 min, then she wanted to patrol the entire complex. LOL Now she likes to go out when the weather is 60 or above, sun is shining and she can atleast be out for an hour or so.
Trust me when I say, I don;t walk her most of the time, she walks me or right beside me, pretty much shows me where she wants to go.. But she doesn't cry like I thought she would, or try and run like she does in the house. The other dogs and cats that are out in my neighborhood dont seem to bother her unless they bark or make some loud noise.
+dena beard That's a good story, sounds like the leash walks are working great.
What well trained cats they are. What brand harnesses are they wearing?
l cant wait to get a bengal. But l have 2 cats now 7 & 9 and not sure if all these years they'd be up for sharing me with a new member.
Oh cool! My bengal will fetch, but he wont let me walk him yet. Gonna keep trying! :)
Take baby steps, the younger the cat the better.
Hey there. I am a new bengal owner, really love the video. I want to know.. Is it hard to convince them to go back inside? Do you just kind of lead them in that direction of home? Thanks!
They really only need a short walk. At some point they tire and turn around on there own. They instinctivley retrace there path and return home on there own. Once home they just go into the house on there own, happy to return to there safe place.
No, after they have been out for awhile they seem to naturally want to come home and go inside.
Hey agave. Awesome video. I'm in the market to buy either a Bengal or Cheetoh and this video may have put me on the Bengal side. If you're in the US can you advise where you got them from and how much. It's pretty challenging finding a reputable breeeder
what harness do you have? mine hates the ones ive been getting , and i want to leash train D:
Hi, gorgeous cats!!! What kind of harnesses are they wearing? Can they houdini themselves out of the harnesses? I'm trying to find a harness that my cat cannot get out of. Thanks!
Metpet.com
my problem is, i have 2 littermates, and they don't walk to the same direction, and whichever direction I pull the other one he freaks out. couldn't find a way to make them walk to the same direction, rather than that they are already ok with harness leash and being out.
so how?
Your are correct this is not an easy task to walk two cats and at the same time, when the two are going at different speeds sometimes i have to pick up the slower one. Overtime they do seem to recognize the sidewalk as a path and follow it. Also i think they actually seem to enjoy walking side by side, they give each other confidence. Have a backup person ready to bail you out when things get crazy and they will.
If you lead the walk, then they will both follow you. I walk my 2 cats even off-leash most of the time (in nature) & they follow like dogs.
Wow they are absoulute gorgeouse
ive recently bought a bengal cat (Simba) and took him out for his first walk yesterday. It was a good first walk but we diddnt really move much(he loves his harness and leash so they arent bothering him) but he walked and then he stopped and wanted to sniff something or he wanted to go one way, i pulled the leash a little but that diddnt stop him from not sniffing something or not lying down or trying to go under a bush, how did u train ur cats to not go in another direction but follow a simple path and go the path u want them to go??
It would help me and simba to have a nicer expirience when we go out on walks 🥰😁
ps. He is 6 months old and has all of his vaccines so we waited until it is perfectly safe for him to walk, we also go at a time where its not so busy
This is fantastic....... I wish I knew how you trained them to "leash walk" like this. Any advice? I would love to teach my 2 cats to walk on a leash as well. We have gotten the harness on,but that is as far as it has gotten...... :-(
Keep the harness on them for a bit then extend the time every week/day then put the lease on and just leave it on so he/she gets used to it NEVER put leashes/harnesses on after your cat does something bad, they will think it's a punishment
Will Maybe That's a good start, some people have trouble even with the harness. Get a leash, we like the 16 ft retractable type. Connect the leash and let the cat lead the way. Baby steps, don't tug at the beginning. How old are the cats?
Hi,Great video! your bengals look beautiful.Would you be so kind as to direct me on what the brand name of the cat lead and harness you use?Where can I purchase it from? Many thanks:)
+Shannaz Ishmael Must any pet store has them, the brand is "tuff". Any "H" type harness should be fine.
Impressive! I walk mine but yours walk like dogs!
~ I always leash and car train my cat.
SUGAR XYLER that's kind of stupid who trains a car
No one said they did idiot, can’t you read?
I would have to drag my cat across the street to do that
And that's why you shouldn't walk yours
Cat walks you, you don't walk a cat. That buzzfeed video where they dragged the cats down the sidewalk was complete bullshit and they scared the cats from ever going on a walk again
I'm trying to train my bengal kitten at the moment he has a harness :) but sometimes when he hears noise like a car really faintly in distance he runs and jumps agaisnt the leadand runs pulling really hard, what do i do in this situation? i cant pickhim up hes just too scared
Thy very hyperactive and curious .noty cats.bt i like and fierce oso.
I was wondering if you started with the leashes when they were kittens? I tried putting a harness on my Bengal when she was 3 yes old and she wasn’t having it.
I live in Canada and I've seen plenty of bengals being sold in pet stores, so I am wondering if they are hard to train or it's easy for them to get wild, please give some guidance, Thank you
Mine are untrained, and unleashed, free to wander Bengals with a view catwalking with bengals
I say them, nice photos, definitely wild and free on a beautiful coastline.
***** I guess I have the space for them to walk like this. Wild over rocks and beside the sea. Have a look at them here: facebook.com/ElmotheGinger?ref=ts&fref=ts We have a book out soon, called Cat Walk. Beautiful cats aren't they, and so full of mischief measured with grace.
JackieMorrisArtist Hi Jackie, I viewed some of your beautiful photos on your Facebook page. You have a very exquisite style. Such a magnificent area your cats have to play. Thanks for visiting my channel and commenting.
Hey! Where you bought pink/red harness? I'm looking something similar for my Bengal :) You have very nice couple!! Greetings!
Pet store, "H" type harness, works great with the retractable leash.
I have had a couple Bengles before but only one but this time I have two. I'm having an issue with them both running around in the middle of the night and sleeping in the daytime. Do yours do this because I'm used to sleeping with my cat and really don't want to go into separate rooms but I can't sleep. Please help. Thank you.
You need to wake them up in the day then. Wake them up and play with them. Get some toys, maybe a cat wheel. Anything to get them to sleep a little less in the day so they will be more tired at night.
Awesome. I just bought a leash on the eBay,how much time do you think I need to train my 11 months Bengal to walk like this? Thanks!!
My sister named her bengal Cheetoh.
i wish it was legal to own a serval and that it was cheaper to get a hybrid
A serval is very hard 2 train
7 things you should know before buying a bengal cat
I am thinking about getting one but I just watched this video and I am pretty concerned
Bairong Shao
Just use a reputable breeder to insure a good temperament. They are known to be an active breed that needs attention and exercise. Cool video showing active curious behavior that bengals are known for but that's what makes them fun and interesting pets.
***** thanks for the reply, very appreciated, I am also curius about how did you train your cat, like how to behave properly. obedience, do they scratch furnitures or jump up very high and knock things off ? please answer.
Bairong Shao Not much obedience other than a water squirt gun we used in the past. Mainly you need to provide an outlet for all that energy. We have two large carpeted cat trees plus other smaller ones. Also with two cats its easier, they spend a lot of time entertaining each other when we're not around.
***** sounds fabulous, would bengals get along well with other breeds of cats? by the way, thanks for all the answer, I really enjoy watching your videos, wish we can talk more if I got bengals in the future :)
Bairong Shao I'm glad you like the videos. If you get a kitten, start him or her on a harness and leash early. Give them car rides, etc. Anything you want them to get used to is easier when there young.
What are these leashes, what brand ?
More questions please!
***** Heeeey :D Can you make a video on how you trained them? That would be great ^.^ x
Too many videos to make, so little time, but i'll try..
Place yourself between the cat and the dog, and ask the dog owner to control his/her dog. If your cat is ok, lift him up and talk calmly to him
Do you have them on a raw diet or canned or cat food ?
Should a breeder be TICA certified for a bengal or does it really matter ?
I would love to take my 3 out for walkies. But i am worried that they might start to meow constantly to get out!Are yours satisfied with just the one walk a day?
+Mishelle Mccormack
Well, Cheeto is OK with it but Kona always wants out. I am greeted every morning by him with a request to go outside, lots of meows!
+agavejon 😊 same here, since I started walking them, my Lego greets me in the morning with a loud miauw and than he runs to the door 😂
Love the cats but watching is painful because of the auto focus
I have tried so hard to teach my baby how to walk on leash. She wants to go outside SO BAD but I want her to be safe. Anyway, she just won't catch on that she's supposed to follow me. I've tried treats and praise, but she doesn't seem to care. She just tries to go in the opposite direction of me, and when I don't move with her, she lays down on the ground and meows at me. Any tips?
+Elizabeth Hudson It's more important at the beginning to let them gain confidence and enjoy the experience, so within reason let them lead the way and go where they want to go. Overtime you will begin to notice that they will start allowing you to change the direction you want them to go.
First dose the baby know how to walk?
anybody have tip for taking bengals on car rides. our 16 week old bengal is leash trained, but he hates cars. but we must take him in the car to get to the quiet parks for walks... iv tried food and treats.
What if dogs see them? Are they bigger than normal cats?
They like dogs.
How did you train them?
You can look online, many postings for step by step process. It’s much easier to start them when they are kittens. It takes many weeks working a few minutes a day a few days a week. They were not initially confortable with the sites and sounds of public streets but over time they became accustomed. Overtime they slowly gained confidence with their new public surroundings. It just takes time. With the training being the same for both, I have noticed one of them adapts to new things quicker than the other. Cheeto is a natural public ham and really loves to meet strangers.
I have domestic cat. He also walk on leash.
The cat with the red harness looks exactly like my Chettoh cat. Is he a full bengal? Both stunning cats!
Yes, both are full Bengals. They are not related and come from different parents. Both have completely different personalities. Kona is dominant in the house but Cheeto is fearless outside. We always run into dogs out on the street. Cheeto always confidently approaches them first no matter there size. He's a little too confident, but that's what makes things interesting some times.
@@agavejon Are they F3 or F1
How old were they when you started leash training them and how long did it take to get to this point?
Nicole Stookey We started them as soon as we got them. The earliest they should allow you to take a kitten is 8 weeks. We put the H-type harness on the probably my the second week that we had them. Cheeto we got at 12 weeks at Kona was 8 weeks.
***** Just go slow and observe how they react as you progress. When you put on a harness make sure not to use the leash at first and to distract them with toys and food to make the experience positive until they become used to the harness.
***** Some just attach the leash and see how it goes. It may go quick and easy or it may not, all cats seem to have there own unique adjustment period. I used the great outdoors the first time i connected the leash. They are so busy taking in the sites and smells the first time they go outside that they didn't even notice the leash was connected.
***** The backyard was first, then the front yard. At first they didn't make it out of the front yard without getting scared. In a few weeks we were a few houses down the street. Probably about six months to get them confidently around the block. Also as they age and progress with training they continue to gain confidence in life and there surroundings. Hope this helps, let me know how it goes.
Agavejon!
I wish I can teach my cat how to walk on a leash help? He is 3 months old pixie bob/Bengal breed
Hard to walk one cat. How do you walk two? Those are such pretty cats.
Jamie Crisp Thank you.
Yes it can be tough to walk two at a time. One is so much easier. Lately Cheeto is walking so much faster than Kona making it harder to take them both together.
Did you train them from kittens? What generation (f#) are they?
Yes we got them as kittens, as far as generation i think about the 11th.
How do I get my 1 year old cat to follow a straight path? I want to lead her, but am having difficulty getting her to walk back home. She's very stubborn.
well, sometimes cats just stop and won't go any further, just carry the cat at that point. As far as a straight path, just let them mostly go the way they want to go within reason at first. But yes overtime as you both get more training at this you can begin to steer them in the direction you want to go.
If the cat trusts you (which only comes wit proper training & time), then it will follow you everywhere. I go with my 2 cats on hour-long nature hikes, in various location & they always follow...they never just stop. I walk them off-leash most of the time.
The question is whos walking who
They don't wanna wear shoes? What if their paws get hurt by the rough ground?
They're...animals...
As long as the concrete isn't hot their paws will be fine
Tobias Schneider true 🤣 I guess I’m too overprotective of my cat
@@avendesora_ when I was looking for puppy supplies I almost bought boots so I'm kinda the same lol (ended up not getting the puppy otherwise I would've)
hey, did you learn them to walk on a leash together? I’ve tried it yesterday for the first time with my 2 kittens, (I had to wait for their injections) but there’s the problem that they don’t always want to go in the same direction? ..😁😁 I wanted to let them go on their own pace but one is more active than the other one.. how do you deal with that?
I have the same problem sometimes where one is faster than the other. Yeah you definitely want to let them learn to walk on the leash at there own pace. When that happens it takes two people, one for each cat.
+agavejon thanx, it’s getting better every day 😊
did you find a solution for this ? i kinda dragged them today and really don't want to do that
+kucukdede I bought a buggy, so I switch them during the walk. People stare at me, but hey... they love walking on the leash now. And I’ll do everyting for my babies. 😊 But with the two of them together, it’s just not possible. they’re Always going in different directions. 😈
hahah true.. ok so I believe I will need my gf help me out i guess. she thinks cat on leash is pretty weird tho, but I don't care at all... they are still not that comfortable with being out, they avoid going open fields, it s been a week I have been training them tho. how much time it took for your cats to be ok with it?
What if they see a dog or a dog sees them? Aren't you worried?
yamjandali They love dogs!
rare cats.
What's the best harness for a cat?
I like the TUFF brand "H" type harness, the red one shown in the videos. Fits close and tight and is very small and then.
i'm sorry about asking but... do they go poop on your walks?
try craigslist man!
the walking jacket is better, collars i dont think would be good for the neck
How do you protect them from dogs? My one just freaks out
Mine just sits there and ignores dogs completely.
But I have an anxious cat who I stopped walking for that reason
Are you sure those are cats? they look like leopards to me :P
The camera focus is hurting my eyes
I know my bad, i think that's the only low res video i have.
