Hardware gore with Robin is always funny when he reacts to how broken some of these devices are.
Personally, I prefer when Lexi does the Hardware or TechSupport Gore subreddits because she has major experience with tech and as such, her reactions are so good.

The potato is a proof of concept for holding Glados. Sadly, V1.0 left a little to be desired and started the whole psychotic ai phenomenon. Great job on that.

I had my mom's old iPhone 4S for a while; the screen was shattered, it was like 8 years old, and it worked flawlessly. Those were the greatest smartphones ever made.

You could be magic like me. My phones have never had a single problem. I've thrown them across rooms, dropped them down the stairs, stepped on them, and both of mine only had minor chips in the protector.

Interesting that the card adapter was one of those that converts micro SD to like what goes in a PSP. But yes, if just an SD one, FREE with every card.
With the router dangling, in my school all the switches in every room are dangling on a ceiling DIRECTLY above students by ~1.5m

My friend actually 3d printed a case for our school’s router a few years ago and it’s still in use today

and... then there is me using an ice pack wrapped in a sheet to cool a laptop(sheet absorbs any water)
This makes my old laptops cooling upgrade not seem so bad (it was sitting on wood blocks with a USB desk fan blowing on it. Before, the desk was heating up to around 70C)
The computer that is just hardware in the PS 4 box reminds me of the fact that my dad's friend from uni had a TV built in a trash can. So, my dad studied in uni specialising in different kinds of engineering and a lot of students made money on the side by building TV (TV parts were quite easy to buy on the specialised hardware market near their dorms and buying individual parts and assembling them by your self was way cheaper than buying a TV in a shop). The most expensive part of TV was unexpectedly the shell, so my dad's friend built a TV for himself, because he bought extra parts in case some were faulty, but he didn't want to waste money on the shell (he was still just a broke uni student and building TVs didn't pay as much as you'd expect + there was an economical crisis at the time and food prices were astronomical), so he bought a trash can, cut out a hole for the display, put everything in and closed the lid. The TV looked unusual, but worked just fine
Edit: Old smartphones being very small is what I miss the most about them as a person with small hands. Those were the only ones I could hold (and use) with only one hand
3:58 i don't know how that happened, because i actually kept my Chromebook from 11th grade (about 3 years ago) and i've dropped it a lot, as well as played games with graphics that were clearly too much for it to handle, slammed it shut on multiple occasions because i have anger issues, have spilled milk on it, gotten crumbs and hair under the keys and the most damage it got was the frame around the screen is a little looser so it doesn't shut all the way and occasionally you can hear the fans grinding, but if i smack the side a little, it knocks the fans back in place (at least i think that's what happens, i mean, the grinding stops when i hit it, so i dunno).
i mean, that looks like a Chromebook, so i dunno, maybe that one was made cheaper than mine.
I have seen almost all of this and then some, but that amount of dust inside PS3 was insane. Almost beats the wool underwear trousers I found wrapped around monitor tube in 80:s.

5:59 oh I recognize this one, that's a Power Mac G5 with liquid cooling! The seals break down in the system and then the coolant unleashed corrosive hell on...everything, really.
You know, for a moment or 5 I was interested in what Apple was doing with liquid cooling. Then I remembered it's Apple.
Somehow, they make a business out of selling the cheapest, most proprietary and closed-source shit that is PURPOSEFULLY designed to not work with something unless it's an Apple product, at a premium price, and people just lap it up like it's water from the fountain of youth.
I don't understand that. I have an Android tablet, and a PC that I put together myself (that is water cooled, both CPU and GPU).
Going on 5 years later now, and they both still run just fine and still get software/security updates.
With the PC, that's because I chose quality components all-around when building it. With the tablet, well to be honest I did buy an expensive flagship Samsung tablet, but it has a cover that's a keyboard, and a neat little pen thing (sort of like the Apple Pen) that recharges by induction charging FROM THE TABLET (so you don't have to stuff AAA's in your Apple Pen), and apparently it's supported by a lot of art programs or something, but I haven't gotten into that yet because I can't fucking afford any of them because they're all "software as a service" as a way to make more money and not because they're actually innovating.
1:44 Techinally, it boots and the buttons work, you just need to purchase a new shell, screen, and maybe a speaker and it will be back in working condition for you to fuck around with

the potato build make a good background
The two melted graphics cards at 2:07 were definitely used for crypto mining as you can see more cards in the background of the image. If that's the case, good, hope that was a lot of money in the drain.
Robin you underestimate the power of the 4090. They can melt right through the power cables
I'm aiming to get a 4090 with my next PC (or whatever Nvidia comes out with after that, hopefully it costs the same as the 4090 or less but we both know that ain't happening).
You know what the first thing I'm doing to it is? It's not putting it in the PC. I'm putting a waterblock on it.
Water cooling is the only sane solution to cooling such a power hungry card. It's also great because you can put "the rest of the heatsink" SOMEWHERE ELSE that doesn't try to tear out the PCIe socket on the motherboard due simply to the weight of the GPU.
I'll only be looking to use an active back plate if the GPU has VRAM chips on the back of it (like the 3090 did). Otherwise standard water block.
I have a 2DS story, when I was in middle school I would take my 2DS and play games on the bus with headphones, but one day after I had gotten on the bus to head on home, got out my 2DS, turned it on and I was met with rainbow cracks inside the screen.
2:55 i actually hade a phone like that once. punctured 4 holes through the middle of the sceen by repeatedly hitting it on a corner of a table. somehow, touch worked in the entire screen still. also if i pushed just right on the screen it would actually give a somewhat clear image around where the screen was broken for a few minutes so i could still play games

My friend nathan dropped his school chromebook so much in 6th grade that in 7th grade the tech teacher specifically gave him a super strong model of chromebook so he wouldnt break it
1:46 actually this is very common in the DS/3DS sales world because there ARE people that only care for a working motherboard. The shell can be replaced, and there’s an abundance of replacement LCD screens.

1:25 depends on if the server uses JBOD or just these 2. If its just these, its kinda scary. If its Just a Bunch Of Disks (JBOD), its gonna be fine if you put it onto something.

Also, the adapter at 5:47 is a Micro SD to Memory Stick Pro Duo, those aren't so plentiful, and I think they've been out of production for quite a few years since they were never official.
With the remote, I have 2 potential causes: Skin moisturizer, or hand sanitizer. Potentially both.
You'd be surprised how deadly those two things are to a lot of kinds of plastics.
