It was considerate of that Cuda to bleed your fish for you.
That’s a badass barracuda, kinda scary for me 😳
amazing diving . . . that cubera was a heart breaker but it lived
Thanks brotha!🤙🤙
It’s cool how you clock the underwater time, hold your breath as you watch! lol
Thanks! I've had some good feedback about it. I'll keep it up!🤙🤙
Great video and great time diving with you, buddy. Ill try harder to hit the king mackerel next time! 😅
Same! And you're good. All were tough shots. I bet u didn't see me swimming with those rays when u went after that mack!
Great video Jack! Too bad about that cubera and the cuda, but you did get two!
Thanks for sharing!!!
Dang..... I hate it when the Tax man shows up. Great video.
Thanks! That was an unusual taxman too!
man you shold use the water jet booster thing for these deeper dives would love to see it
True that!
Yea that definitely could've helped for a little more bottom time!
“It might seem excessive but I still needed to brain this guy, even though he’s gonna die because he’s cut in half” Had me dying 😂
🤣🤣 I mean so true! Insane the toughness trying to swim with no back half. Savage! Gave him a warriors death. Lol
It's wonderful seeing you get better and better! Sick dives bro. Beast!
Thanks brotha! Yea I felt good on this trip!
Great video, that cubera was a lot bigger than 30 lb.
Knew it! 😂
Probably. It was just hopeful thinking he was smaller. Lol
That was some great video. I had a really big cuda take the entire back half of a 50lb amberjack. It was the biggest cuda I’ve ever seen. I was commercial fishing back then so myself and the crew had a pretty good eye for fish weights. The consensus was 120lbs. Seeing you lose half of a big fish to a cuda brings back memories.
That would be insane to see! Don't think I've seen one that big before. I'm usually not worried about Cuda, but one that big might make me feel uneasy!
@@CaptainJackSpearo it was nearly black and so fat around that it didn’t really look like a cuda. Head was so wide the snout? Looked short . Tail looked small on the body. There’s more to the story but it’s too much for the comments section. If we had cell phones back then the video would have been epic !
The Taxman comes in many different ways 🤙
Yesirrr nothing as bad as a stingray though ;)
@@CaptainJackSpearo XD
I’ve had that fill plate shot pull out too. It’s not that surprising when you see it happen up close. The gills get sort of mangled and you create a huge hole in that area and the flopper can actually go through even fully engaged. I like to hit meat myself but I don’t think I see as many fish as you guys haha
Wow very good point and interesting! If I would've gotten a full pass through of the flopper then I mightve been ok. Definitely didn't realize how big this fish was until my buddy had told me 🤣🤣
before that next mission i hope u sharpen up that spear....that cubera supposed to die😭😭😭 that one will remain in your memory for a while...yeah that fish was over 40 sure
Possibly! Maybe it was hopeful thinking he was smaller. Lol definitely sharpened once I got back to the sailboat
A sharp spear goes a long way. Big Cub
Thanks, Jack that was a great episode, I appreciated it!
I have a quick question: what is your take on double wraps and single ones?
I see you double it, so are there any pros, or cons in both?
Thanks and again, thanks!!
Thanks! Just range really. Also depends where I'm spearing. Realistically any place more remote or chance of pelagics, I'd double wrap and error on the side of double wrapping. Those 120s still shoot the entire length of the double
You ever consider grabbing some carbon or composite blades? Always fun to hold my breath with you lol
Thanks spicedog! That's what I got! The Moana carbon fins. Best things I've ever kicked!🤙🤙
@@CaptainJackSpearo Hell yes bro - I will check those out for sure!
Stay safe and keep spearing! 🐟
Hey Jack very interesting dive, even though not productive in fish caught. Always learning or being reminded about best practices.
I remember you shooting the rock last time, I think I joked about it ... "don't shoot the rocks".
Beautiful dive though, the spotted rays are beautiful and graceful. Who doesn't like turtles?? And those were nicely colored.
What do you do to correct the bounce on the shot? Two handed hold, more concentration on the shooting, more deliberation before trigger pull?
Just wondering.
Dan's a good dive partner for sure and cheerful guy. "Laughter maketh good medicine" and you guys always have some fun.
Look forward to the next video. Mantente seguro y bien a todos. (= stay safe and well everyone)
Thanks for the kind words don! So both of those, 2 hand and focus might be the fix. Gonna have to figure it out asap!
@CaptainJackSpearo
I have complete confidence you will get it under control!!
Have a good one. Stay safe out there.
@@CaptainJackSpearo
PS Jack, I have a lot of cross country ski friends.
Some have done the biathlon, a ski race where you have to stop and shoot targets With rifles along the course.
As the skier approaches each shooting station, they have to slow up the pace, and get control of their breathing, to be able to hit the target.
Practicing that slowdown of heart rate and calming concentration might help your spear accuracy.
Brainstorming here. Go get'em Jack.
Also, diving with subnato might be an aid too, but i understand you might not always want the machine attached to your arm.
See ya.
🤜🤛🎯🐟✌
The only fish I’ve ever had a cuda attack was a king fish about half the size of that one
is it okay to shoot and eat fish with a rusted spear or pole spear tip
Yea I wouldn't worry about it too much!
Jack, please start saying "it" instead of "he" and "she". These people need Salvation from sentient fish dinners.
A strange ask, but I think I could do that!👍🤙🤙
Whats your PB in cwt?
Cwt?
@@CaptainJackSpearo i mean freediving as deep as possible as you can touching thé bottom and returning back
Idk man I like these euro reels like the meandros not that I claim to know better than you.
I've never tried em. I'm sure they're fine. Personal preference I guess!🤷🏼
@@CaptainJackSpearo Rob Allen stuff is top notch no doubt. The euro reels simply freespool then the fish applies pressure, so there is no thinking involved. You can however set a little drag on most models so there is a little tension there. I do prefer the system but as you say to each their own
