this game had such an impact on me that the first time i went to NYC (as a full grown adult, having not played this game in over a decade) i was in awe, not because of the buildings or the people or the cultural meaning -- none of that. i was in awe because it was *like i was actually in spiderman*
and it wasn't even my game lol -- it was my older brother's game that i occasionally fucked around on but mostly just watched him play
A lot of people don't realize that NYC is actually low-poly and SD textured.
It's the only way to have that many people in one city.
LA has all those tech companies nearby, so they get all the alpha updates.
One of the many reasons I hope to see New York one day

This is my favorite game hands down. I had this on the PS2 and played it nonstop til about 2017 when the disc broke. Seeing this game again just makes me.. really, really happy. Also as for bruce campbell abuse, if you get all the hint markers they say something different ; )

I remember while playing this game and fighting Doc Ock on the train...I got thrown in front of the train, got hit by the train, rag dolled all the way down to street level about 7 blocks ahead, my lifeless corpse hitting a pedestrian...and the pedestrian yelled at me "Hey! Watch it, buddy!!" Like, sir...I am dead.
I used to just swing into the train at Mach speed just to get launched and an npc said "Hey, Spivey! You da man!" as my lifeless body flew

It's also just so very fitting for the character. I mean, at the end of the day, Mysterio is really just a guy with a bunch of special effects. I still love him as a villain, though, because he's so fun with the right writers and artists!

The ragdoll physics in this game really sends me to another world. I wish more games these days did stuff like this.
Diablo Three has ragdoll physics w/ dead enemies and it sends me everytime I'm fighting a battle and they start being launched in the air and landing on their heads

IIRC the reason that so many people have started these longer form videos now is because the algorithm starts to push them more if you want proof look at any channel that posts shorter form content compared to a channel of a similar sub count which posts longer content (animation channels excluded) and you will probably see in the newer videos that the longer videos are tending to do better which is a long winded way of saying CZcams likes longer videos Kevin makes longer videos we happy CZcams happy we all happy

These long playthroughs are great, especially the older games because they are so bad they're good. We definately need an "I'm walkin' here" count. :)
I know it seems really goofy in this playthrough but it's actually a really good game. The web swinging of the new spiderman games is designed to feel like how it is in the game. Certainly a bit dated but a game that holds up, especially when played on the actual console and not an emulator
@@dogbot55 Many of the PS2 games are my favorites to this day. It can feel weird going back to the older graffics but after playing (or watching) for a bit it's just as fun as when it was new. :)

I imagine Radiator being a fancy avant garde night club with the background sound of a single radiator as the only music. Honestly every time I used to hear "OH nO My bALLoOn" when I used to play this game used to drive me nuts and I'd get so annoyed if I missed the balloon by a few seconds. Hearing it happen during Kevin's playthrough almost gave me PTSD-like flashbacks I swear
I remember as a kid one of the balloon children was glitched out, laying halfway in the floor sideways and crying about their missing balloon.
Weirdest thing is it never happened again, it was like a glitch that couldn't be replicated ever again.
I laughed for like 5 minutes straight, almost pissed myself from laughing.
Funniest shit that will never happen again. It was on the PS2 as well with a very scratched disk so idk maybe thats why it happened.
If Kevin keeps making more long form videos like this, maybe when the Fable DLC playthrough starts we can finish in at least three years!

This just unlocked so many memories. I forgot all about the huge tube tv I used to play this on constantly. The thing was so heavy that it warped the dresser I had set it on, and I couldn't get into the drawers to get my clothes out, and I'm pretty sure the pause menu to this game is probably still burned into the screen.

Every other Spiderman game ends when you fall a little out of bounds or just plays a canned animation.
This is the only game where you get speed lines and Spiderman hits the pavement. It's amazing.

I know this game is a huge meme but I have such fond memories with this game. I thought freedom in games was really cool when I was younger, so the fact that I could just swing around the city at my own pace was so much fun for younger me. Even when I play the game now I donât get through much of the story I just kind of swing around for hours. Never beaten it, probably never will
