  • India Bans Rice Exports. Here's Why the Move is Significant | Vantage with Palki Sharma
India has banned the exports of rice. This comes after India previously put curbs on the export of wheat and sugar. Russia's withdrawal from the black sea grain deal has shaken global food market. Continuous Russian missile attacks have damaged Ukraine's food grains and port infrastructure. How will this impact the world? Palki Sharma tells you more.

From what I have read before, China made a big stockpile of Indian rice before the expiration of grain agreement in Black Sea. So smaller importers may be clobbered now. In general, while this export ban is a national prerogative, export taxes are less drastic and allow for gradual introduction. In this case, India should start with a smaller export tax earlier, and increase the tax rather than enacting a ban.

I am an American. I enjoyed listening to your news cast. I don't have problem with people who disagree with me on somethings and I have no problem hearing them out on their thoughts and opinions. So, O would like to give my opinion on the news piece that spoke about Governor Desantis of Florida. In the U.S. they are trying to push "Critical race theory" in our elementary schools causing the children to be ashamed of being caucasian. No person can control what nationality, ethnic group, or color of skin they are born with. In America there were more white young people than there were black standing and marching in the BLM movement when it first started, not knowing it as a marxist tactic. The huge majority of white people in the U.S. are not against blacks, or browns at all. In fact, many black and white people, especially young people LOVE and Respect one another, because they were raised together, and they do NOT have any where near the hatred that some of both races may have had for each other in times of slavery many years in the past. In the 60's whites and blacks came to understand each other much, much better. No one should feel bad about who they are because of what some people in their particular race did in the past. No one can change that. So, what Desantis is wanting to do is teach the truth of history about how slavery was all over the world during that time. And, by the way, there were many, many white people that worked in the fields, and had to pick cotton too. At one time in history the Scottish had the Irish enslaved to do these things, and there were those who had farms who didn't own any slaves. Plus, there were also white people working on the "underground railroad" in America helping, black people escape to the north. What about them. All white people do NOT think alike and are not white supremacist, like king Charles, and Schab, who disgustingly "think they are all that" "the I'm better than everyone else elites." Whites, like any other race have their pompous pruds. I'm sure there are Indians, as well, who think they are better than others because of their wealth. Elementary children do NOT need to be subjected to these teachings of people who say a 13 year old person has the right to decide they want a sex change without the consent of the parents. We simply cannot have this, it is communist, marxist ideology, tactics being used against Americans to do everything in their power to take our country down. I am proud of Ron Desantis along with anyone else who fights against these insanities. Right is right and wrong is wrong all day long.!

What about farmers? They are already victims of low margins or face losses due to high input cost. How do you justify them at 25rs/kg? One sided math doesn't work. Now it becomes an opportunity for middlemen to buy grain from farmers at low cost. It was not an easy decision for the Indian government either. This prohibition should be as short as possible for our own good in later times.
Just as the Middle East can't control oil forever, it can't either, and if it does, it will drive many people away from agriculture. Like every other sector, agriculture sector always needs a better deal to sustain and survive. White-collar jobs cannot give us food security. This is a major problem in India, many people don't know the ground reality, they always expect everything to be cheap or free, even if it makes someone suffer.
