WITHOUT CHAINS | Late Rifle Elk Hunt

- Late season elk could mean frigid temps and lots of snow. I got to the area with a day to scout and dry weather. I found elk right away so the hunt was looking good. I found multiple groups of cow elk, but the bulls were not around as this was a post rut hunt. I opted to move areas and that turned out to be a great decision as I was able to find more elk and finally got on some bulls. Follow along to watch this late season adventure unfold!

Love it, if there is a will there is a way! With the right tires & chains on all 4 corners….sky is the limit!
One of the best aspects about spending time in the wilderness is how much we learn about survival & our ability to overcome adversity. This video reminded me of similar adventures & experiences as a hunter learning the ropes. There is soo much more to hunting than finding & shooting animals.
Your content is authentic & genuine, very few content creators in the hunting arena stick to this….NEVER sell out! 😎🤙
That’s right! Had to learn the hard way but was fortunate to have the right guys with me that would do whatever it takes to get it done!
Thank you so much! I’ll keep after it!
That was a brutal exit, dinner and drinks were bought by you I bet.
Haha yup that’s right!
We’ve been there before with trees down across the trail and having to cut and chop for days to get out of somewhere with the stock.
Geez those are tough days!
Yikes!!!! No chains??? Great bull!!! Congrats
Thank you! I will have chains for sure next time!
Should have obviously had chains, however airing down your tires to 6-8 PSI in heavy snow will perform better than chains. You would need a compact compressor that can be purchased at any overland website. Guys air down and re-inflate many times in the back country. I have been in 30" of snow, and airing down made the difference between getting out, or becoming the Donner Party.
That’s a great tip! I’ll have to look into a compact compressor!
I had a similar but only part of one day to get out one time, but I had chains on all four tires and was stuck. I had two guys show up on snow machines wondering what the heck I was doing there with a truck then they rode off leaving me to my stress of trying to shovel snow faster than it would drift back in. Sucks when you don't even know where the road is.
Oh wow! That’s crazy they didn’t help you. Yeah that sounds like a rough time. Can relate 😅
Bet they’re reluctant to come help you pack an animal out again. 😂 Poor guys did all the hard work while you just drove… 😆
😂 no I was out there shoveling we only had 2 shovels. We alternated, but I was also the only one filming the shoveling 😅
My back and legs hurt just watching
Haha oh we were super sore! That was one hell of a work out!
Nice
Thanks!
Chains or a snowblower. Look into V-bar heavy duty chains. Good friends you got right there ..
I’ll have to look into those chains. Yes sir for sure!
Awesome video! Where did you get that black elk rope hat at? Congrats a good bull!
Thank you so much! That’s a @gethushin hat!
That toyota was fine it didnt need chains just that ford
😂 the Toyota was the reason we got stuck. Ford would’ve made it out that night.
