For unsolicited offers? I hate this part of retail. If a customer wants helps let them ask. Don't bug them trying to buy something you'll probably get something out of. Thus I applaud what he did there if it means for less buggy retail agents not having anything else to do other than bug you.
While as a customer, I agree with you. However, in retail that's what you are taught to do. Greet the customer and see if he/she needs help.

Enjoying these vlogs Woody. I'm a master mechanic and have been working on cars for 20 years, yet I just spent 10 minutes watching someone else change oil. So you must be doing a good job of keeping things entertaining.
looks like a piece of a piston skirt... you should tear it down and see what you have before it craters... if the cylinder isn't tore up too bad, you can replace the bad piston, re-ring and re-bearing it for next to nothing.. if it's beyond repair, get a low mileage engine from a salvage yard.. $500 bucks and you're running again.. you can do that stuff yourself..

woody looks like it may be a ringland. after oil temps are operating temp turn it off and take out the dip stick and see if you see any white smoke. white smoke= bad ringland. you may know this but if not, free tip

Leave your truck on the ground and turn the wheel all the way to the left. Gives you plenty of room to take off and put on the oil filter. Do this all the time with my 01 Tacoma
You should find a place that does oil undercoating for cars and give them the used oil. Maybe could arrange some deal to get your cars undercoated as well :D

Woody, from what you are saying I can pretty confidently say that the truck has a lifter tick. So I am assuming the metal fragments are from a broken/exploded rocker arm. Kind of an easy fix as long as the damage didn't spread.

Touareg's are one of the most unreliable vehicles you can buy.
+OMGBoomify the v10 are a lot more reliable then a range or land rover with their ever failing suspension.

+9697JAY newer ones maybe, the older ones I've seen have 300k mile on the clock still running like new with the original engine I've seen so many land rovers sitting on their arse it's unreal not cheap either.
also I guess the newer regs are in the Cheat box era so you'll have to be careful there.

Although, it has a different type of oil filter than either of your cars. It isn't concealed in any metal casing.
+Infinite you have a canister style oil filter most newer cars have them
Looks like a piston skirt possibly, witch would also cause the piston to tilt in the cylinder smacking the cylinder wall making that click, my jeep did it but it was way more catastrophic haha had 225,000 on it

2 things for the oil filter 1. you should fill it half way so it will take lest time to fill it 2. the oil filter should be hand tight

Hey woody I would definitely get some axel stands and a chuck to stop the car rolling back while in the air. I've seen it happen many times in the garage. Also to save loads of time and mess get your self some futomo valves there fantastic for quick oil changes basically replaces the oil plug for a tap open close switch. You can find them on you tube also.
Could cut open the oil filter that came out of the car in question and have a look for badness. Oil analyzing is also a thing. But would need to collect it as it comes out of the car.
cut open the used filter from the 4 runner and tacoma. Seems like an easy enough way to ID which motor the metal was from.
I have seen that type of Lightning storm 3 times this week in Central Florida haha.
Depending on the sound of the ticking, the ticking on jackie's motor could just be that it needs a valve adjustment, which is highly likely being it has over 200,000 miles on it. Its not a big issue, but if you get it taken care of you could see better gas mileage and emissions. The 2uzfe's/the uz line of toyota v8's, aren't known at all for blowing chunks, they really just keep on running, especially if maintenance has been kept up to date with them. They are very well known to go more than 300,000. There are at least two known lexus ls400's that have the 1uzfe and they are nicknamed the million mile cars because they have 900,000 plus miles on them. The metal chunks are more than likely from something else.
Around 11:00 is when i realize that i have that same broom that i use to clean out houses for my job, i found it in a burned out condo building that i salvaged for work because it was free, lol....

Lifter knock I'd bet. As far as the shavings... could be a bearing but unlikely, I'd bet it's a gear in the oil pump. In other words, the oil pump is failing.

I had an engine die shortly after finding same type of metal after an oil change. The metal turned out to be chipping inside the cylinders and and pistons.

Honestly those chunks don't look like bearing to me. and ticks are usually lifters or rod bearings. add some Lucas and see if it goes away.

You should tighten you oil filter only to the point where you dont need a tool to take it off. You should always be able to take it off by hand. IMO they only sell strap wrenches for oil filters is because the other guy put it on too tight lol

woody- slap a neodymium magnet ~5lbs on the oil pan to see which car the shavings are coming from and you can tell which one is about to go!
