Thank you for the video,
What's the best way to convert your handwriting into a font and use it with axidraw?
great video..i downloaded all the extra svg fonts from mad scientist but they wont show up to choose from in inkscape...i put all the svg files in the proper inskscape foler but the inkscape v 1.0 default fonts only show up during render...if i use the utility tool to generate font table all the new fonts i added show up in the view...but how do i get them to show up in the main choice choosing view?
How to convert a single-line TTF font file into SVG font format?
hello vision plotter, I want to ask you a question, how do I make the plotter print one letter after the other, as if I were writing a person, I can't do it with inscape, can you tell me how I do it .THank you
Another great video Duncan, very clear and concise explanation! I’m having a blast with my AxiDraw, but while looking at it I was wondering that if you were to disassemble it and attach longer v slots on both axis and replace the belt with a longer one accordingly, would it be difficult to adapt the programming to plot on that larger area?
Thanks for the kind words! I've never tried what you're describing, but my understanding is that this is possible - and it's how EMSL builds its larger custom robots. You can find the code for the Axidraw software here if you want to poke around: github.com/evil-mad/axidraw
I get an error... "Width or height attribute missing on toplevel tag"
Heyyy..
Am using this app as well but when the font is selected from hersheys text i cant make space between letters..! So what to do for that ?? How can i get space after selecting the dont i wanted ?? Please reply
Somehow it seems all fine, but Idraw then starts plotting a border around the text?
can not make it for japanese font, please kindly help
Thanks. I assume you can use these fonts with other plotters such as iDraw which also has an InkScape extension.
Were you able to get the axidraw extension to work with idraw?
I can't get mine to work... it's so sad. I convert the text to Hershey, it's looks great, then I go to "generate laser g-code" and I get "inkscape has received additional data from the script executed. The script did not return an error...." anyway the path shown is crazy and has nothing to do with the text....any thoughts??
Is this the same extension also available in Extensions/Text as HersheyText? Or it's something more oriented to a particular goal?
I believe Hershey Text is available beyond just the Axidraw software now, but I could be wrong.
could you tell me, what version of inkscape do you have, please? And Is that you using 4xiDrawing extensions to make g code file for cnc plotter ( Servo)?
We're using the latest version of Inkscape and the Axidraw software.
How to make it write?
I have a pen plotter I'm using to write "handwritten" letters on 8.5"W x 10.9"H wide ruled lined paper. I use Inkscape to set up the letter, format the text, and generate gcode for the plotter. I'm having trouble getting the text to align properly.
I recommend getting in touch with the pen plotter manufacturer directly. They'll be able to help!
@@Plottervision I'm also getting hard to convert this 'hershey text' into gcode using Unicorn extension format. Do you know how to convert it into gcode?
Hi there,
I'm debating on getting an axidraw pen plotter and offer my customers to send 'hand written' cards with the gifts they order.
I handle about 100 orders a week, could you tell me if you think this would be feasable, or would it be a lot of work to set up the plotter for every custom text it needs to write on a card?
thanks.
Good question, and unfortunately not one I have an experience with. You'd probably need a way to create SVG files with a stroke font programmatically, then you could feed them to the plotter. Best folks to ask would be Evil Mad Scientist Labs who make the machine - their customer support is great, and they'll know if others have done something like this successfully.

Hi Thomas, I have the same idea as you. I also want to send handwritten cards. Did you found the answer? It would be nice to contact you. Greetings, from the Netherlands
how to an Arabic text convert into single-line
text?
This seems like a good place to ask this. I do bookbinding as a hobby, and I would like to print pages with a real fountain pen and a hand font. Is there an inexpensive plotter option (software or hardware) that would be able to take in a large text or word processor document and parse it into something a plotter could write out, and pause for page change? We are talking about signature format, so every sheet of paper would be front/back and 2 pages per side. A3 size or so for folding in half.
Or do i need to look at just printing normally in a fancy font and forget this idea? I don't mind having to work for the result, as i know none of these small machines have the ability to eject pages like the more pricey autopen machines used by companies and governments. I just don't want to have to retype, or copy paste every single page of a 300 page book into inkscape, lmao!
Interesting question. I would say it would be worth getting in touch with Evil Mad Scientist (who make the Axidraw) about this and whether it would be possible - they're good folks, won't give you a hard sell.
Did you find a way to do this?
is it possible to plot a form template? i want to place a form down and have the plotter fill in the blanks
I believe that's a functionality that's available in Axidraw Merge, but I've not tried it myself! wiki.evilmadscientist.com/AxiDraw_Merge
@@Plottervision "substitute data from a spreadsheet file into your SVG template". is exactly what im looking for! Thank you!!
How do i download and get more hershey text fonts on inkscape if i have windows?
You can download them from here: gitlab.com/oskay/svg-fonts/ - click the download icon next to the blue "clone" button.
@@Plottervision Thank you. It worked. Is it possible to add fonts outside of gitlab that work with hershey text in inkscape? Do you know of any?
@@svenega74 Don't have any particular recommendations, but our understanding is that they're not too tricky to make!
Hello, how can I fill the interior of the font?
If you're talking about regular outline fots, you can use the Axidraw hatch fill Inkscape extension. Planning to make a video on that soon!
@@Plottervision Thankss
You never did show "how to write text with a pen plotter".
How do you actually generate the gcode to send to the plotter?
