- These 5 suspension upgrades will make unlock your Volvo's true handling potential

Volvos are built from the factory for ride comfort. This means soft bushings and compliant suspension parts that help absorb vibrations for many thousands if not hundreds of thousands of miles. The downside to this more compliant ride is the degradation of those critical components after many years and abusive miles. And when you're trying to turn an older volvo into a track toy, like what I'm doing with my 2005 S60R, there is a clear path you have to take to replace these critical suspension components that will immediately make your car handle so much better.
In this video I got a chance to speak with Chris from iPd and he explains some of the suspension components available from iPd that will turn any worn out Volvo into a handling machine.
Check ipdusa for these suspension components: www.ipdusa.com

got IPD 25mm sway bars on my 740 with bilstein B8 shocks, lowering springs and full poly bushing under the car, it's so different from a stock 740's ride it's ridiculous. ridiculously fun that is :)
InstaBlaster.
IPD = I Paid Double
Haha XD
yes!
I found this video very interesting, as I might soon be rebuilding the front suspension on my parents V70n that might become mine.
About 350000km and about 18 years in Swedish weather conditions “has taken its tole” (mostly on the shift booth, bussings, handbrake booth, shift knob, springs, dampeners and the thing that has me most worried some body work).
I’m looking foreword to spending my summer on fixing it up.
More great content! Keep up the solid work!
Thanks for your support!!!

Love the c30 P1 lower torque mount!
“Have you felt the difference between the sway bars?” “Ours are solid rather than hollow. IPD makes the best parts”
So one is thinking about weight and the other is thinking about durability.
? 🤔
@@zigzag7194 No, hollow bars are actually stiffer. Solid bars are more durable but they bend easier.
@@theraleighdriversclub4057 You're both full of shyte. The stiffness of the bar changes with the moment of inertia of the cross section. Hollow bars can be lighter AND stiffer, depending on the i.d. and o.d.. Material at the centre of the bar, centre of rotation has weight but no ability to resist torsion.
You are forgetting one of the most easiest and best upgrades for your Volvo. The PU subframe inserts. Makes the handling waaaaaaay better and direct (more 'BMW like'), even with the stock factory springs/sway bars.
I didn't notice any difference, when I did the ipd inserts on my v70 wagon. But, most people say that it makes a difference.
Link?
Great vid :)
If I have new front struts and decent rear strut life as well, can I just put in the lowering springs and be set, or is there more I need? I heard I need to get my wheel chamber set cuz when it’s lower the wheels sit off, I saw a rear camber bushing ipd sells, so I’m wondering if I have to do all that or if I can just put on the lowering springs and be okay, I’m planning on getting the swag bar and new endlinks as well
Sway bar ordered and on it's way from USA Pensilva to Ireland ; -) happy days. I went for a 36mm German spaccer lift kit. Irish roads are not for lowering springs. Back end Mad spring (assistance spring).
Bring on the bad Irish roadside.!!!
I wonder about the difference btw what polestar has done for sway bar vs the IPD
Any recommendations for 2009 s60 2.5t fwd mods?
Can I get those sway bars to my 2006 D5 or its just for stronger petrols?
What do they have for the 2012 Volvo c70 t5 ?
Great video! I didn’t know about the control arms.. definitely need to upgrade to those.
Love ipd
Bit shipping to canada is too expensive!!
I recently ordered an ipd rear anti sway bar for my (new to me) s80 v8. Other owners say its the best mod for these cars, hands down; so I'll see when it shows up this coming wk. I'm going do a review of it on my channel.
Would be curious if it's a noticeable difference, I got the same v8
@@manitobaerial I think so, yes. Now, if you're not ripping around corners and S-curves, it may not be worth it tbh.
I have a 06 v70 wich isnt a r but will that control arm fit my car ? Ik it sounds dumb i just have to ask bc i dont know volvo im just getting into being a vovlo fanboi🤘🏻
Tire paint is an extra 50whp for those that don't know lol. Clean ass R.
What do you mean when you say P2? Also, I have a 2012 S60 T5. I know as far as Polestar, I can’t upgrade it. Can I upgrade it with iPD parts? Great video by the way! Very informative!
P2 01-09 S60
P3 2011 + S60
Humberto Garcia Ok!! Makes since! Someone told me I had a P3 but I had no idea what that meant! So I am assuming it’s like a generation thing?
It's different chassis styles. Just like the Nissan 240sx is classified by s13, s14, s15.
@@cadeosburn5957 The previous car V70, S70 and 850 were all P80.
Any suggestions for me,I have a rebel blue 2014 V40 D3
Have the swaybars but the coating they used rusts up real quick here in Canada. After a few years now it's already rusty looking. Shame too because it looked cool when first installed. Got the lower torque mount from FCP Euro. Top mount from IPD (don't recommend because somehow it's already shot) and the inserts for the top bar and the subframe inserts (bitch to install) also from IPD. More vibration for sure but not as much as people say on the reviews. When you really notice is when you turn on your AC and the compressor kicks on. Vibrates a lot.
I have a V70R and im looking to do all the upgrades that you mentionned. As of today, would you say its worth going with IPD?
@@charlestherrien3290 Yes and no. Sadly there are not very many options.IPD, FCP Euro and Viva Performance are what I could find. Have a look at what they have.
@@youtubasoarus okay thank you man
@@charlestherrien3290 No worries, best of luck finding what you're after. And enjoy the R :)
I have all those parts on my S60R
1 FAST R how much vibration do you get from the stiffer transmission and engine mounts on a scale to 1-10 one being good ten being bad
@@andrewbrown4642 oh it vibrates your dash, steering wheel, door panels, if its loose your gonna hear it rattle
I say a 7 out of 10
@@herbal_p Confirmed, yet worth it.
Hey I have an 04 s80 t6 will what can I do to make it more sporty like the s60r
Is it automatic
I like iPD but the backorders are *insane* on some of their stuff. And some of it (Like their "HD" Spring seats) just don't live up to the expectations. Their exhausts are really good though, minus the rusty clamps!
Any progress on your fuel delivery issue?
Picking up a used PEM and harness kit from someone on Facebook. Gonna try it sometime this weekend.
Thanks for your inputs!!!
Also... check your mail soon
-Hansen
@@ShiftingLanes I like mail! 😂
Hopefully the PEM is the issue, if the pump is dead it's not too bad of a job though. Keep us updated in your thread on the owners group!
Edit: Just saw your message (Patreon doesn't like notifications, apparently) thanks for shooting me some stickers lmao I was joking around but I won't complain 🤣🤣
It’s a small token for the support you’ve been giving us.
Cheers!

I have a problem with the pen sometimes the car stall and can't start. After change ... No more problems!!
Delrin subframe bushings, nuff said, it'll feel like it's on rails after that, easily installed in an hour too. (assuming new or poly suspension bushings).
This owl in track suite lost a bit of weight , however people still complain about quality of the ipd parts
I hate all these new engine mounts and bushings, so much more vibration at idle. Next time going back to stock✌🏼💚
So are these only for the s60r because I have a 60 2.5 so can I use these parts also
Don’t think so. Not sure though. Try fcp euro just type in your cars info and it’ll tell you what fits
My IPD sway bars have been sitting on backorder for 4 months. For a p2. Think they'd have those in stock or something, especially when putting them on sale, and they just keep pushing them back a month every time the date comes in. Their shipping really sucks tbh. Other than that, good company but a bit overpriced.
I recommend delrin subframe bushings too from kahplenke racing, not their poopy inserts.
That sucks. Thankfully my rear anti sway bar is supposed to show up this wk. I ordered one for my new to me s80 v8. Ship time seemed super slow though.
@@Pedal2Metal_on_CZcams Yea, must be they can't find a reliable shipper out there or something. I get stuff from the west coast usually in 2-4 days from most companies.
Nice s80, those things are monsters, have fun with it!
Just chiming in again, I've had these swaybars on for 4 years now and they are probably the best suspension upgrade I've done. It has Bilstein b4 and Eibach prokit springs aswell, for anyone looking for future reference - handles 130 mph corners great on a fwd.
P.S. Best endlinks and control arms are Lemforder from Germany. Use powerflex bushings on the control arms and your transmission and engine torque mounts... you won't have issues for years.
How useful is this for an s80?
Anyone have experience tuning a 3.0 6cup turbo XC60? (2011)
Why do people choose the s60 over s80 for the mods? it must be the compact size. Will these mods be similar for an S80? I have a T6 2011 S80
p2 s80 didnt have as much engine choices, also easier to get power ouf ot p2 s60, the p2 s80 t6 had weak GM transmission that couldn't handle the stock power. The handling on the s60 also was better.
can these parts also work with an 08 s60 2.5T ?
Yes
Does anyone know how to check the transmission fluid on a 04 S60R? Can't find dip stick
U ever find out? I have the same car.
Under the air box yellow cap
@@solow970 Its a super PITA and you have to reach underneath the air box and go back in nearly blind. I don't like it one bit. :(
My S70 T5 needs a new torque mount.
ShiftingLanes - Check out my 2005 S60R which I picked up in February. She has 115K mikes, see here, scroll down within: instagram.com/kp1790/ I did all OEM: front end control arms, balljoints, sway bar end links, front rotors (Textar), front pads (Textar), rear rotors and pads (Textar), MAF Sensor, Air Filter, NGK plugs, All Engine/Tranny Mounts, Serpentine Belt Tensioner, Serpentine Belt, Thermostat, all Radiator Hoses, Transmission Fluid change and complete paint/interior detail. The Timing Belt and all tensioners were just done. Doing Coil Packs soon, as well as front/rear struts/shocks and springs. Cheers.
A hollow bar aka a tube...
This what i need is android radio in s40... :(
unfortunately , those are " just " lowering springs...
If you don't like IPD you don't own a Volvo simple
LOL, I have now been living in the US for 3 years, their infrastructure on the ROADS is crap. In Sweden, this is great stuff but in the US your call will be beaten and broken within 3 years.
I agree although the further west you go, the better the roads are. California and AZ have some of the best.
of course your going promote your items for sale , it is not an upgrade , it is a sales pitch
They are way too expensive…….
