      Its worse than that. Lets put an ipad between the steering wheel and the wheels. Lets put an ipad between the gas pedal and the throttle body. Lets even put an ipad on the god damn ebrake (I mean wtf, the fail safe system?).
      Then wonder why today's cars you feel so disconnected from the road and why they are so unreliable.

      Prices aren’t coming down 50%. Even though there was greed by these manufacturers they still have to account for actual inflation. Consumers are partially at fault here. Maybe they shouldn’t or didn’t NEED to turn an F150 into their daily driver. Or maybe they didn’t need heated/ventilated seats with dual zone climate controls and a digital cockpit with a heated steering wheel. But they asked for it. Trucks used to have a bench wrapped in vinyl. Now they have suede and leather. Americans are also guilty of consumerism and wanting to look cool.

      @@Michael-ur5qb I think it would be more true to say DEALERS asked for it and probably a few yuppies. The general populace didn't ask for power ass wipers, it's just that every car on the lot was ordered equipped with one or it came with the power and convenience package that had all the stuff you actually Did want. No great numbers of people demanded the power ass wiper or power sunroof on their truck.

      You can’t. All the window controllers are electric now. Crank windows aren’t made. Also … comment about the always on data … the car manufacturers are selling the data to LexisNexis without your knowledge or permission as an added revenue source. Without your knowledge or permission and you can’t opt out. It would be easier just to give your car back.
      You CAN disable the datalink by removing the SIM card which would void your warranty. It would also remove a number of safety features like auto emergency alert, in car satellite navigation and tracking after theft.
      Your insurance company might like to

Sure, it doesn't scream, "money," but, it's a nice, dependable, vehicle that will take me anywhere with a great mpg to boot. Unless you absolutely need a truck every day of the week, get a cheap sedan and just rent a truck from uhaul once or twice a year.

    There were a lot of trucks out there with 100-150k miles on them. And the bed looked like they’d never even had a bag of groceries in it. Obviously used to haul kids to soccer practice. And they still wanted top dollar for them! Trucks became the new status symbol instead of the BMW’s. There also seems to be a lot of ‘men’ driving these big trucks around trying to compensate for something.

    I bought a Ford F-150 XLT Lariat truck in 1987 for $15,000, it was a special order truck in the colors I wanted, and it had every option in the book, including 4WD, dual gas tanks, power windows, etc.
    The salesman told me it was the most expensive truck they had ever sold. And they gave me a $600 rebate check, so I got it for $14,400. It was the best truck I ever had, it had the 6 year bumper to bumper warranty, with unlimited mileage, and I drove it for 6 years with no problems.

      Since 1987 inflation has you needing $2.73 to buy the same thing one dollar bought then. Therefore, just from inflation alone, that $15,000 truck costs $41K today. You do realize that was 37 years ago don't you? Now add things like back up cameras, cell phone connectivity, and other nanny safety features, a decent sound system, nicer looking interior, and you basically get to a $50K base truck. Some of the safety junk Ford and every manufacturer puts into trucks is now mandated by laws and regulations, including emissions and fuel economy. Remember the days when you just needed to periodically put air in the tires? Now the vehicle has to have a sensor in every single wheel to tell stupid people their tires are low on air by law. And add whole curtains of airbags so the same stupid people can live another day to not check the air in their tires.

      Had my wife order me a 2022 XL Hybrid and she was told that it would be here in 13 weeks, and I soon learned that it would take much much longer. Well, when I got rolled over to a 2023 model because of demand, I upgraded to a Larait so I could get cruise control, rear electric window, and lane centering mainly. I grumbled because “I don’t need heated seats and steering wheel in Florida, but man do I love them! Haha 471 days from my initial order I picked up my truck with no surprise additional markup thank god. Walked out the door for $35k total including retail, tax, fees, shipping, a service contract, and insurance gap coverage. They and my wife wore me down in the finance office to get the two extra packages, but later I was able to cancel them with no trouble when I read the fine print and it was NOT what we had discussed .The roughest I have treated it was 600 pounds of ceramic tile and four adults traveling 73mpg with AC on doing mid 40s mpg. Drives and handles more like a car on the street, highway, woods or beach. Although the moment they come out with a Hybrid AWD or 4WD model I am selling it to upgrade. Gets almost 50 mpg because I drive like a granny makes me feel like the savings makes the payment completely affordable. When I got rolled over to 2023 Ford gave us a credit to make up for the price increase, although regretfully they cancelled the zero percent interest offers.

      Scream196, I gave up buying American vehicles back in 2010. I got tired of the dealer pricing and service bullshit.Since then, I and my extended family have bought 9 Hyundai and Kia's, of which 3 were vans. All the vehicles are still in service except one got totaled and another got sold off because of going overseas. Not one of these vehicles has ever had a mechanical problem, and 4 now have between 100K and 200k miles on them. They come with a 5yr 60k mile bumper to bumper and 100k drive train warranty. A new Kia telluride and Hyundai palisade base price here in the USA is 36,100 dollars comes with 3.8 v6, 8 speed Trans, tows 5k, comes standard with all the stop and go cruise, blind spot, lane change stuff standard. That matches up pretty close to your Durango, so unless you need to tow 6k, I'd give them a look. I've talked to the service department where I have my car serviced before because of statements about engine problems reported on the internet. I was told the problem with these vehicles is they are cheap to buy and the people that buy them are cheap and don't keep them serviced. They say kias and hyundai's don't like extended oil changes, just change the oil at 5 to 6k miles, and you'll never have a problem.

    (20/4/10 Rule) = It advises putting down a minimum of 20% as a down payment, financing the vehicle for no more than four years, and keeping your monthly loan payment within 10% of your monthly income. So if you make $60,000/yr, your monthly income = $5,000, so your monthly car payment must be no more than $500, and with rates at 7%, that would mean that you are financing a $10,000 loan (80%), so your vehicle can cost no more than $12,500 (100%).

    The biggest problem is Ford announced the Mavrick as a 20k truck, yes that was the Front wheel drive Basic XL trim. The interior was said to be lack luster and a sea of plastic in reviews, but that was something you could accept at that price point. Problem is it's the same craptastic interior in the XLT and even the Lariat aside form the seats and upgraded sound system it's the same dash just a better color of plastic. The issue is even the XL base is 26K+ the XLT is in the 30k+ and the Lariat is 40K+. I really thought the 2.0 Turbo was going to be the same as the Focus ST but on start up it sounds cheap and tinny and that is not like the Focus ST because I had one. I looked at the XLT and it was 34K and I declined to even test drive it after I started it up It isn't even close to the Santa Cruz. I can't even believe I can say that and I'm willing to spend Lariat money on a Hyundi Santa Cruz because it's that much nicer of a Vehicle.

    • @Marz78963
      @Marz78963 Před 5 měsíci +1

      I've looked at the Santa Cruz and Maverick. With the DCT issues Hyundai is having with their Santa Cruz's put me off on that. They should have done a standard transmission for that vehicle. And the Maverick, it has a better ride quality over the Santa Cruz however the plastic's are a turn off for the price. Might be worth a buy on the used market but I can't see buying one new at todays prices. I've ended up not going for either truck. I can find 2015 - 2016 Nissan Frontier Pro-4x's for half the price of a Maverick with low miles (sub 50k miles) so will probably go this route. But I am glad both Hyundai and Ford are trying to bring back the small truck market. Maybe other makes will give them some competition.

They are for the most part a SUV with a truck bed which is a good thing for most people. I thought about getting a Maverick but have decided to wait till some other brands come out with one. 30 thousand is too much for me and my 07 Silverado crew cab is in great shape and runs great.
