That is Awesome 👍😊😊
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel It was so helpful, that I donated to your channel - and I want to encourage everyone seeing this to do the same - worth every penny!!
I'm a 65 year old woman I fixed my washing machine thank you for the video
yay!! you've encouraged me. this is where i am today and wanting to find some comments of folks (around my age - 57 here) who'd done it!! i'm fairly handy so i'm pretty sure i can!
Thanks! You have been an invaluable resource. A man giving his knowledge away to the world. So that is the way!!!Thank You!!
Thanks so much Michael😊
Thank you so much for this guided video. I was able to change the motor coupler and my machine is up and running. Beats having to go to the laundromat. God bless you.
I’m so proud of you😊
This video save me a lot of money and time! I really appreciated! Thank you so much!
You're welcome!😊
Thanks so much for your very clear and complete explanation of how to replace the very inexpensive part.
Thanks so much Dewey👍
Followed each step and my washer is working again! Thanks so much!
Awesome,
Thanks so much for the feedback 👍😊
thanks Scott - you saved my weekend. This video basically diagnosed my problem. I was able to get to and find the broken coupler in time to get a part on a Sat. Your video was incredibly helpful. Thank you for taking the time to do this video including showing part number. Your effort saved me sooo much time.
Thanks so much Glenn👍😊
Love it, very explicit and clear, thanks for the tutorial,
Thank you for freely sharing your knowledge, I was able to repair my washer in minutes following your instructions
Thank God for CZcams! Had this issue, purchased the part, and just fixed 10 minutes ago. Thanks for sharing!!
Very impressive Tim😊👍
Thank you so much for your video. I followed it and our washer is working again. Same issue has happened a couple years back and a handyman charged us $80 to repair. The fix cost me $7 and about 30 min of my time. Thank you again and bless you!
You’re very welcome Jessica❤️😊👍
Thanks Scott! Well produced video!!!
thank you for this video!! mine stopped working today and i found your video immediately! i've ordered the part, which should arrive tuesday. i'm going to attempt replacing it myself, so i will update later!
Your Totally Wonderful!!!! All I had to do was see where you put your screwdriver in the hole at the beginning of your video and now my washer is working like a charm!!! Thanks!!! Big Time Thanks to you!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Glad I could help Lisa❤️😊👍
I am glad I got that lucky and all it took was for me to put that screwdriver down there in that hole. HAAA!!! LOL!!! Whatever that thing is down there in that hole must have gotten stuck. I really am glad I didn't have to try and start taking everything apart. 😁
Scott was “right on the money” with everything! Fixed my machine-now it agitates and spins !
Thanks Scott! You are the bomb!
😃✅👍🏻
Nice job Roger👍👍👍
Perfect video. I'm facing this very issue. My problem is room to navigate the repair.
Great instructions!!
Thanks so much Heather ❤️😊👍
so, curious, heather8931....we're you able to get it done yourself!! imine stopped working today and i believe this is what is wrong! i've ordered the part, and hoping i can do the repair myself!!
Thanks for the help!
You’re welcome David👍
great vid ! thanks Scott
Thanks so much Jason😊
Thanks so much This was in fact broken. Just wish my appliance store was open :)
This was incredibly helpful and well done. Thank you!!!! However a step by step to put it all back together would really help. Some things are intuitive, others are not and I’ve already broken some plastic clips just trying to get the cover back on.
Noted!😊👍
Thank you sir!
Glad to help Yoshi😊👍
Thanks you video excellent 👍
Thanks Steven😊
1000 Gracias👍😌
Thanks so much👍
Hi Thanks so much made the Job easy. Smelt rubber burning on the start up, Ran ok but shut it down in case id=s that Normal. I figured it is
Nice job Jim😊👍
Thank you for you easy clear. Amazing video. I do jave the problem need to fix it lol.
Glad it helped!👍😊
I will like to know what’s the name of the part thanks.
Thanks for this video, just ripped apart my Kenmore Series 80 and sure enough all 6 fingers were busted off, $12.97 on Amazon and new ones on the way hopefully that's all that's wrong.
Nice job👍😊
enjoyed your video. whatever you do dont use the coupler with the metal insert. though it would appear to be a better coupler, it will be the last one you ever install on your machine. the problem is the metal coupler will destroy the shaft of the gearcase and the motor. its the third generation of the part over a 28 year period and the metal insert is stronger than the shaft it mounts to so it rounds off the shaft instead of breaking. Use the cheap plastic one and you wont destroy the machine. I think Whirlpool did it on purpose. thanks
InstaBlaster.
Newbie here - My washer has all the signs of a broken motor coupler - It makes noise but does not agitate/spin, and it stopped spinning after I washed a blanket (another sign). However, after taking everything apart, the motor coupler has no obvious signs of damage and isnt rounded out; still fits well into either shaft and spins the shaft when I manually spin it. Any suggestions? Thanks!
That sure sounds like a motor coupler.
Maybe one side of it has the plastic forks broken, or the rubber piece is torn .
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Hi Scott, thank you for your reply. The coupler is good. I removed the entire gearcase from the bottom to see if it was the clutch. I could not spin the clutch with my finger, so it doesnt seem like that was the issue. However, when I tried to manually turn the input shaft that the motor coupler would normally attach to, the output shaft did not spin. Every now and then it would barely move a millimeter or two. I also noticed that the gearcase was leaking oil. So my conclusion is that the transmission is bad. Does that sound correct? Thanks in advance for your help.
My kenmore series 100 makes that noise when I plug it in, without even hitting start yet. When I spin the tub a lil, it'll stop making the noise, but starts again. I hope this will help to fix mine.
So I’ve got the outer box removed and I’ve taken the two clips off the water pump, but the pump (which seemed to just pop right off in your video) will NOT come off. I went so far as to slip a screwdriver behind the pump and tried to pry it off the shaft that runs into the pump. Wouldn’t budge. It feels like there’s something on the end of the shaft that is keeping the pump from coming off. Any idea what might be happening?
You’re doing good,
Rust has expanded the metal shaft which is now stuck in the plastic water pump.
Use even more force to break it free.
Dont forget the two 1/4 " screws before prying
Is a kenmore washing machine in the united states the same as one in canada ? Im looking to purchase a part and noticed that for one certain part there is a different part number connected to it in canada than the states . How do i know if im getting the right part?
Can you post that Canadian number so I can check on it?
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Thank you the canadian part # ps1485646 and the american part # is 285753A . The american part is cheaper to buy . Can you tell me if these two part are the same? I have a kenmore washer mod# 20692001. Thanks for your help and time .
ugghhh wish I could do this myself 😩
You can do it😊 Let me know if you need help👍
I have a Kenmore 80 series that won’t spin, agitate or drain. It makes the same buzzing noise as in the video. I replaced the water pump and I followed the steps in this video but the motor coupler isn’t broken. Do you know what the problem could be?
It might need a new motor start capacitor.
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Thank you for replying. I just changed the start capacitor but no luck it still won’t drain, spin or agitate and makes the buzzing sound. I did notice some burn marks on the relay switch in the motor. Do you think this could have something to do with it?
I did that , but now it's clicking stop and starting at the same time, I smelled something burning, so I just stopped it , I'm wondering if it's the Motor going bad or the transmission or the capacitor not giving a nuff boost
I would change out the capacitor.
Thanks I will try that
This is the same model I have and I can not get the water pump off. I took the clips off and lift and nothing..it’s very rusty-any solution? I can see the coupler is broken between the motor and transmission..I just can’t lift off the water pump;(
Can you get a big flat head screwdriver in between the pump and motor and pry it off?
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel lol I have tried-it almost seems like it’s connected/retractable lol. The part arrives today and my neighbor is going to try to help tonight-I’ll keep ya posted!! But Thxu cause an 8dollar part is better than the 150 repair guy 😂fingers crossed/thx for the response🙏
Fixed!! For 8bucks! Lol thx man!! It’s laundry day😂
Nice Job Debbie❤️👍😊
Need help, my washer leaves clothes wet. agitates fine with new doggies, i replaced transmission, motor coupler, clutch assembly. Everything works fine except no spin. When I tilt machine over it starts to spin, I put it back level and it finishes the cycle and spins fine. But when I start a new cycle, it doesn't spin again. Tilting machine somehow fixes it but won't stay fixed next cycle.
Almost certain that a new lid switch will fix it👍
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Hmmm... The machine does turn on/off when I open/close the lid... When i put a screwdriver into the lid switch hole it does the whole cycle like agitate, add water, pump water out. only thing not working is the spinning. sounds like the motor is running loud but not spinning the drum... I've repaired several of these direct drive machines, and this one has me stumped.
I'm having same problem. Just spend 7 hours working on this thing completely replaced assembly, dogs, even a rubber shoe, clutch, everything and it won't spin during spin cycle and leaves clothed wet. I have no clue what's going on. 😕 if you figured if out, let me know!.
@@AM0ERIC0AN ended up that my supplier sold me a defective transmission. They replaced it under warranty and now the machine works great.
Hello,
Can someone tell me the purpose of the white paper, ours is falling apart and the one side says about electric shock. We don’t know where that warning piece goes either
It’s ok to leave them off. Just cheap dust covers.
Mine won't spin or agitate but it doesn't sound like the motor is getting activated aka no noise only silence after the filling stops
Thanks Edwin,
Just needs a new lid switch 👍
You were right lol i figured it out moments before you replied, i didnt have a switch so i by passed it for the moment. Thank you
i cannot get the pump or white thing (first thing removed) back out of the way. should i remove hoses or try to work around??
(seems silly question...just want expert's opinion)
I usually pour the white plastic water pump all the way to my left so that it locks up against the metal washing machine frame.
thank you. I ended up using duct tape to help hold it, as it would not stay put. got it all done and appears to be working. fixed for under $7. thank you so much!
I've had to change mine 3 or 4 times weak setup
Need to avoid overloading the machine.
you need some new agitator dogs too
Always a good idea👍
This happened to me with a full tub. Do I need to empty the water first? If so, how? Also, how do I access this/remove the cover?
Hey Peter ,
It actually should still drain.
I'm actually doing it rn and you don't have to remove the outside cabinet, just prop the washing machine up and you can get to it from the bottom
That’s right. Good idea.
How do I know if it's the motor or the timer? It just filled but then just sits there, won't do anything. Timer issue? It is 12 yrs old.
Highly likely you just need a new lid switch 👍 Easy to do.
My motor don't have the pump on it it has a wheel for a belt to connect to the agitator (transmission)
Can you send me that question to:
Scottthefixitguy@yahoo.com
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel I have 3 kids so my issue required a bit more urgency, I bought a new washer. Thanks anyway
My washer spins but wont agitate, the dogs are good, the agitator just spins with no resistance
worn out agitator gear or transmission
Must be the motor getting weak.
almost sound like Ray Romano
This is Ray Romano, with the COVID dry up in new Sitcoms, I’ve got to get work where ever I can find it😂😂😂
Make sure those couplers are all the way down or the clip won't clip.....
Good tip👍
Thanks for the help!
You’re welcome 👍
@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel What can I use on the springs in the motor? My wash has been sitting for 2 years and the springs are in need of some unsticking.
