Classic watch addict... "I have too many" but "I'd like to see a ...... version" and most probably "I'll get that!".
Cheers Dan, we're all in the same boat mate.... Be well, ask for more!!!

Absolutely agree about this watch! The proportions of the already beautiful watch have even benefited from the downsizing. And as always I'm massively blown away by the quality of the handset.

As a fan of Seiko and an owner of a vintage Grand Seiko with a similar design, I saw the thumbnail and instantly thought it was a Seiko homage, then I watched your video and sure enough, it is! A classic design with a beautiful case. I feel that the only other case design that love next to this is the Tag Heuer Carrera. This is amazing. I’ve never heard of these before.

Great review, couldn't agree more with everything you said, the watch is an absolute winner. I love the classy vintage Grandad style but with modern perks 😄There is very little that Escapement Time could do to improve it but I would love to see them add a few dial options with sunburst effect with an "even" layout i.e. numerals at 2-4-6-8-10-12, "quarter" layout i.e. 3-6-9-12 or a "6-12" layout.

  • @thenexthobby

I have one incoming, because more than one reviewer noted - as you did here - how the 40mm version won’t sit well on regular wrists. 36-ish mm is exactly where this case design needs to be.

Very nice watch and is certainly something I may consider if I need a nice but inexpensive dress watch. I find as someone with a 17 cm wrist that a big watch is fine; I wear divers all the time. Dress watches on the other hand should be small. So many watches now are not in that traditional size or even style. I love the four ticks a second quartz too. Wish we saw more of that.

Nice review mate. It's interesting they've done a 36mm version now. As back when I reviewed the original 38mm, they ended up replacing it with the 40mm. They told me that 38mm was too small and people wanted bigger watches. So, then I got the 40mm and reviewed that one. Perhaps I'll have to try out this 36mm one now too.

Great review. Looks like a great fit. If they're listening... My wish list would be, 1) remove quartz from the dial text. 2) maybe escarpment time over 2 lines? Would look like a GS then. 3) beveled/shaped hands. I think that's it. Not asking for too much?

I love my original and this is a great addition to the line up.
I’m happy with my pull/push crown as it’ll go nowhere near water. And unless it’s the very high quality of the Rolex screw down crown, it’s another thing to go wrong imho. Paul.

I can kind of see what you mean with the quartz. It does advertise the superior precision associated with quartz though and it would be a little crass to try to pass it off as mechanical. To me, if the movement is pleasing, it’s pleasing, regardless of how it’s achieved.
