  • This model is the perfect introduction to RC model flying for beginners and everyone at the field had a ball flying it. Definitely a recommended buy if you are looking to get someone into the hobby or if you just want to have some relaxing fun for yourself.
    Pros:
    - sub-250g means no registration required
    - so simple to fly
    - durable
    - quick to assemble (just click-and-fly)
    - comes with two flight batteries and charger
    Cons:
    - not suitable for windy days if you're a beginner
    - requires 4xAA cells for the transmitter (not included)
Disclosure: This particular unit was provided for review by the manufacturer.

I'm really surprised to see this flying so well for Bruce. I found the CG was so far aft on mine that I added 15g of weight to the nose before I flew it. Yet Bruce doesn't seem to have added any. I suppose the gyro must simply compensate for the very backward CG.
BTW, there is a Mode 1 version - that's the one I have.

Bigger battery & an AIO FPV camera help shift the COG forward. And yes this is 1 of the few cheapy beginners that allow you to chose a mode 1 or 2 Tx. Motor failsafe is good too.

For $86USD (around £100GBP after postage, import fees & Royalmail monopoly tax) that looks like a pretty good beginner option. And it even comes with two lipos.
Only downside I can see is the proprietry transmitter.

I bought this as a slow flyer so I didn't have to go to the flying field. I wanted something where I could walk out the back door, launch, fly over the pasture, and belly land. It does all of that, but just barely. The controller is really poor. The sticks are very twitchy, even in "normal" mode. In "Sport" mode, the plane will occasionally loop or roll, but most of the time it won't because it's severely underpowered.
I couldn't get the receiver to bind to my Spektrum NX10. I thought binding the plane to a good Tx might even out some of its bad tendencies, but it simply wouldn't bind. I can go through the procedure of holding the Rx bind button until the blue light does its fast blink (indicating the Rx is in bind mode), but no joy.
If you or someone you know is absolutely band new to R/C airplanes then this might be a good trainer, but there are many better. If you're an experienced flyer looking for a slow flyer or something you don't have to drive to the field to fly, this isn't the model. Sorry.

This looks like a good contender.
Can I use my radiomaster TX16s transmitter to bind with this plane? I know it binds with OMPHobby's helis.

    • @theoztreecrasher2647
      @theoztreecrasher2647 Před 2 lety +1

Yep. The OMPHobby protocol is used on both their planes and their helis. 1 of the few makers that seem to have standardized their protocol. With the 2 satellite sockets you can add a DSM or S-bus satellite to use a lot of other transmitters as well. Add a bigger battery though - it is tail-heavy stock. They even added a ball bearing into that black nose cover to try to compensate!

I see all these channels with GPS platform drones and RTF packages and these guys call themselves hobbyist! Well I beg to differ as most people I run with do as well. You aren’t a true hobbyist unless you BUILD your own UAV’s or Planes.. If that bothers you that I say this well move on to those channels and learn little to nothing"
