    Wow, low mileage!
    This RVHauler named CHILL was SOLD FOR $54,000 USD.
    He had only 572,000 miles. He has the much sought after Volvo D12 engine that produces 465 HP.
    No Clutch! This 12 speed auto-shift transmission really works well.

    Yup those HDT's are an awesome way to go. This one is less than I paid for my Ram 3500 Laramie!
    I have driven a few HDT's (am an active CDL holder), but to be honest, the Cummins option (in my opinion) is better than the Volvo engines. That's just my opinion. Great video, welcome back!

    Great detailed description Gregg. Even though it was mentioned that you may be able to find a truck for 30K and think you can get a shop to weld up a deck for 10K. I don't believe that anyone pays as much attention to details and cater to the RV crowd as much as you do. I am a previous customer and can't say enough good things about Gregg and his company. You may do it for less money but you always get what you pay for. Nice to see you doing video's again.

    Hello Greg , thank you for the insightful comment . I found your answer very useful and interesting .
    I find the attention to detail you incorporate into your builds extraordinary . I am looking at M2 sport chassis but your option opens up a whole new world . For me the truck would be the primary driver ,and the M/C secondary . Instead of a car on the back ,I would prefer a longer condo with a kitchen and shower . That gives me the option to bobtailing it . I plan on staying under 20000 lbs . for the RV . I like to single it but a lift axle might be necessary . And just to make it a bit unique I am thinking of a wooden truck bed (oak or yellow pine ) with metal skirting . I had a wooden flatbed that was absolutely gorgeous and worked great ,till I put a sealer on it . It got so slick ,even with heavy duty straps things were still shifting around .

We have been looking at used F450‘s for around $42,000 we have currently an alpha fifth wheel that weighs 16,000 pounds and are looking for something with a small of footprint as possible with this automatic transmission but really appreciate the engineering and the way that these trucks are over built for what we need compared to the Ford 450

    • @rvhaulers
      @rvhaulers  Před 4 lety +4

      Great question thank you!
      I have been doing this for years, and I have the process down to a science. It is very straightforward. Make sure you have insurance before you start your travels. I will have temporary in-transit tags/ permits in place prior to your arrival. When you arrive, we spend time driving, training, hooking up to a trailer, loading a smartie, backing up etc.
      I have a full training regime I have developed over the years.
      Lastly, you sign 4 pieces of paper, and drive away.
      Key point - there are NO taxes or import fees at the border. At the border, you do have to go into the office to give them your paperwork. The speed record is 5 minutes at the counter, the average time is 15 minutes.

      @rvhaulers  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi Rory. Thanks for the question. There are advantages and disadvantages to every solution.
      The "older" trucks that are pre-emissions are nice, because they are simpler, less to go wrong, and lower maintenance. A nice pre-emissions truck is now really really hard to find.
      However, the newer technology and "smarts" in the newer trucks, with their transmissions, ride, comfort, and their fuel economy is stunning. (and we can find them on the used market).

    Would you be able to put a box over the lift so the trike will be out of. The weather do you have some good used trucks for sale now and if you had the right two car stacker trailer I am not a millionaire but I can afford a nice older truck with the truck you call. Earnie something like tat with an enclosed box to go on the lift so what’s in there will be out of the weather and is. Earnie still for sale. Or any used ones that I can buy and have you change some things on it fo me I have a prosthetic leg but drove the road for years I am very interested in buying one and if the price is nice maybe I can get trailer from you Get the whole rig used for around $80-$100 thousand dollars hopefully you will have some. Volvo’s and. Featherlite trailer 2 car stacker I have looked at Pete’s KWs Freightliner s but am very serious about buying one and getting it set up the way I want it Bhutto I know that you will take a 2015. Lariat with 17,670 original miles still have window sticker for truck when I bought it $68 780 thousand dollars plus ten in extras nobody has ever been in the back seat it’s. Loaded with extras if you had a used one I will more than likely buy one from you because. With a used one I would like to get a 40 foot stacker trailer to go off bumper. Hitch that will be strong enough to pull a Stacker trailer with an awning two doors one on each side need the driver side of trailer over the 3 axles that opens wide and fender comes off if you have some used ones so I can afford the tractor and trailer from you and I think we can do a used one that I can buy right and make some changes and then get a Featherlite 2 car stacker for around $80 grand I am willing to give you e deposit on one to get start on a clean used one them we can get a trailer and I can buy it all from you here is my number call me sad leave message and number I am sure that we can work something 386-481-3567. Greg , thank you for a very informative video . I do have a question , do you ever come across trucks that have governors set at 55 mph , and if so how do you deal with that ? I was talking with a Canadian trucker who told me that governors set at 55 is fairly common in Canada .
    I had one that was set at 80 mph ,there was no way to get her past 80 .

    • @rvhaulers
      @rvhaulers  Před 2 lety

      Hi Daniel, it is common for a fleet-owned truck to be governed in two ways.
      First note - 55 MPH is extremely rare. However, in the end, this is a non-issue.
      1. The company owned trucks will have "cruise control" limit. They will instruct the Volvo mechanics to set a limit on how fast you can set your cruise speed.
      2. The company will often set a different "foot" limit. You can press on the throttle pedal, and sometimes do a bit faster speed than the cruise (sometimes needed for passing another vehicle).
      Ie, the company might set a cruise limit at 65, and a foot limit at 68 mph.
      When you get a truck with limits like this, take it to Volvo and they will remove all the limits for you.
      HOWEVER, there is a HARD limit programmed into the Volvo system that you can't go past. In GPS testing, I have personally found this to be either 83 or 85 MPH.
      Thanks for the question, Gregg

      No Class 1!
      This unit is titled as a motorhome when it leaves my dealership. It is a two-axle motorhome with air brakes (just like large diesel pusher class 'A' s). In most cases, all you need as a standard drivers license, and you sometimes have to take an air-brake course to learn how the brakes work.

      Look at truck paper.com you can buy a semi truck with 500,000 miles on it with the automatic transmission for under 30,000 I prefer the international with the Cummins motor but that’s because I know the Cummins motor you can easily have A metal fab shop build you a bed with the fifth wheel hitch that is capable of towing whatever you can put behind the truck. Altogether you can have a truck with the bed just like this in my opinion under $40,000

    • @rvhaulers
      @rvhaulers  Před 4 lety

      Hello Michael. As you alluded to, there can be a significant variability in cost based on mileage, age, what we add to it, and in particular don't forget condition! As in this example, new tires, some new paint, full maintenance, and fully repaired condition adds to the cost of the RVHauler.
      Yes, as someone wisely mentioned there are cheaper units out there, but I tend to look for the NICEST candidates that are clean, well maintained, non smoking, and have very tidy interiors. The nicest trucks don't tend to be the cheapest. I invite you to reach out to me and we can share some past build prices, and show you what can be done!
