- This video shows you the top 3 players in the MVP voting for each season from 1956 to 2020.
LeBron James, who now plays for Los Angeles Lakers, has been selected to this list 11 times and eventually became the MVP 4 times.
Kareem Abdul Jabal was elected MVP 6 times in total, and no one has broken this record.
Michael Jordan and Bill Russell followed closely, and they were both elected MVP 5 times. - Sport
86-87 is totally insane. You got Magic, Bird and Jordan all in their prime.
Late 80s were incredible if you think the amount of talent. You got Isaiah, Kareem, Moses, Barkley, Karl Malone, Hakeem, even Dr. J for a couple of years.
Jordan??? His prime was in the 90s
61-62 is in my opinion crazier. I still think it’s dumb how Bill won with 18.9 ppg, 23.6 rpg, and 4.5 apg, when Wilt had astronomically better points, better rebounds, and Oscar had way more assists than both combined. Russell was lucky as hell to win that one, it should have been Wilt 1, then Oscar, then Russell.
@@VanguardSolarEnergy
Jordan’s prime was from 1987-1998. So the late 80s was the start.
@@wiltchamberlain3484
Russell wasn’t lucky. He won because he has one of the best defensive seasons ever in 1962. Looking at offensive box score stats won’t tell you that obviously.
Rip to these nba hall of fame
Elgin Baylor
Dolph Shayes
George Yardley
Wilt Chamberlain
Nate Thurmond
Wes Unseld
Kobe Bryant
Pete Maravich
Moses Malone
Each one of them are a hall of fame no matter what you say.
I cant believe kobe died that's so tragic. It's so unreal to hear that, may we wish to be half as successful as him one day.
George Yradley was not hall of fame but RIP
1961-1962 1.Wilt chamberlain2.Oscar robertson.3.Bill russell
Regarding 1962 it looks bizarre, why Russel and not Chamberlain or Robertson. But I've read what Russell was focused on the winning above everything else and played that way that his team would win. But Wilt and Oscar were just stat padding. They put personal stats above team success. For example playing bad defense in order to get in position for a defensive rebound. Wilt for example used to get rebound and instead of passing for a fast break he waited for everyone to gather so he'll also be on the offensive side of the court to ensure that he would score instead of anyone of his teammates.
Early in the days players themselves voted for who is the Most Valuable (not the best). And contribution for a team was more valuable than personal stat padding.
What is stat-padding? Just look at Russell Westbrooks game. Especially in OKC and WAS. He leaves his defensive assignment in order to grab rebound. Steals rebounds from teammates, gets lots of turnovers because of bad passes, because he tries to get 10 assists.
Westbrook was not the 1st to do this kind of stuff. There was Chamberlain but thankfully for him he learned that in order to win he must put his personal stats aside. And in the seasons when he won championships he had similar numbers like Bill Russell and played similar stile. Same goes for Robertson when he won championship he averaged 5.7rpg. Enough for a 6.5ft guard. Lets hope Westbrook will also learn this. Because he has necessary skills and athleticism to be great player. But unfortunately looking at his play in Lakers uniform he had not adjusted his game in any way.
@@raimundasm Thanks for that. Everybody thinks I’m a casual when I say Wilt was stat chasing. That play style paired with his size/speed is why he averaged so many points and created so many untouchable records. If Shaq was allowed by his coaches to play as a ball hog, I’m sure he could’ve averaged similar stats to Wilt.
It's because the players voted and they hated Chamberlain. Btw, he went 40/29 against Russell that season. "No one loves Goliath"
@@Rickygrines he was allowed to play as a ball hog like what literally what ruined chemistry for Lakers and shaqs worth ethic wouldn't give his career enough time to set such untouchable records also wilt is just a better version of shaq is almost all regards.
@@raimundasm i think these mostly are myth russels team was superior when you look at stats these are excuses that someone was looking for win . i mean offense is kind 50 percent of game next to defense you cant say some one is that good but he has least effect in 50 percent which is called offense so bill wasn't superior in his team in offense at all

This is a pretty solid top 10 players list lmao
bill russell 11fmvp, fmvps weren't giving when he played
fmvp is named after him
imagine averaging 50-25 and not winning the MVP, biggest joke ever
Bro imagine today, a player averaging a triple double for a season, and another averaging *50 POINTS PER GAME* and both of them not getting the MVP.
not just 50 tho, 50 and 25
FROM 81 to 88 BIRD was on the TOP3.
He got injured and didnt play in 89.
Lebron from 2008 to 2016. (With 2005, 20017, 2019 too)
Crazy
GOAT shit
From 1980 to 1989 Larry Bird received 67% of ALL NBA MVP votes.
Still the last player to make 3 peat mvp but Jokic also on his way it would seem

Shaq was not the best player in the NBA in 2005.
The KING should have at least one more, for his second run in Cleveland
Dang Harden really dominated the 2nd half of the 2010s. More career MVP votes than Curry, KD, and Westbrook
Dang and only win one of them lol?🤣
1961-1962 I'll go with Wilt Chamberlain those numbers are so huge
Same for me
Regarding 1962 it looks bizarre, why Russel and not Chamberlain or Robertson. But I've read what Russell was focused on the winning above everything else and played that way that his team would win. @@EezoTheChezo yes he did lmfao.
The music is good What is it?
Your vids are so underrated
Bird is still the last one who made 3-peat but Jokic on his way
LBJ has 11 times mvp candidate😮😮
I’d have liked to see how many team W’s each of them got along with points, rebounds and assists
17 18 LBJ was greatest player of all time at single season
Not even the best version of LeBron
False. Not even a top 5 Lebron season.
Larry should have had 5 but ok
paul arizin ONE OF the first dominant big men i didnt forget about george
Season 2016-2017 Russell have average triple-double LMAO
It is just disappointing how nobody saw how wilt was averaging 50 points and 25 rebounds in 1961-1962, and they still voted for bill russell.
People did see that. But they cared more about team success than individual box score stats. People saw wilt’s 50 as being selfish and helping himself more than his team.
James harden be like: nothing much just averaged 36 points
Wilt and bill be like: nothing much just averaged 25 rebounds
Westbrook be like: nothing much just averaged a triple double
Sorry guys I don’t know what this was meant to be
1979-1980 and 1980- 1981 Now that's what I like to see.
Can we jus say something about Bob Petit
Lew alcindor Is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
😑duh
I saw some Chinese sentences in the background🤔
Lebron should 100% have 6 and could’ve had 8 if it was fair
If it wasn't for the injury he was ready to go for his 5th last season
Bill russell is overrated.... Wilt > Bill any day
The Celtics don't win 11 ring with Wilt instead of Bill. Bill is the GOAT defender and winner, ain't nothing overrated about that.
@@sideshowbobsaget8876 Wilt is better player wise... Bill should be known more as the greatest role player ever.... Btw hakeem is the 🐐 defender btw
Personally I would love to see the two switch teams. Wilt may not have won 11, but I guarantee you there’s no way Russell even wins 4 with Phila. Can you imagine Wilt surrounded by the talent that Bill had at ease? Unstoppable.
@@wiltchamberlain3484 This guy gets it💯
@@accountant3847
Bill is by far the GOAT defender. Bill’s worst defensive season was better than Hakeem’s best defensive season. Bill wasn’t just a role player on the Celtics, bill was the Celtics. Tell me, how did the Celtics do in 1970, the year after bill retired?
Kobe didn’t even get top three in MVP voting in 2006 that’s insane
but tbh i feel like russell westbrook had the best season bro
Wilt shoulda been MVP every year from 60-68
Kareem shoulda been MVP every year from 70-78
The 1990 season Barkley had the most first place votes did not win MVP
2019 P.George ahhaaaha the guy made the play-offs in the last week of the season, playing wit westbrook.
Jokic lead a injured Nuggets without any teammate averaging 20 points, most of the season in the 1st place.
James Harden got robbed he should have been MVP at least two more times Stephen Curry should never have won two MVPs back-to-back one of those is LeBron's
Which one is lebron's ?
@@petrosxristodoulou 2015, Steph only averaged 23ppg, thats nothing for a pure scorer like him. 2016 is unanimous, he averaged 30 on insane efficiency but not the first 1
@@Anthonydu01630 if it wasn't curry in 2015 then it should have been harden not lebron
That's why you watch games and not just look at stats. Curry was the clear MVP in 15&16
@@Anthonydu01630 it’s not all about points bozo and Lebron only avg 25.3 while Curry avg 23.8 which is only 1.5ppg more
Wait, if Steph Curry was the first unanimous MVP in 2015 or 16 I don't remember why is there number 2 and 3 in the list, just a question, no disrespect to n2 and 3 in that year
You have vote for 1 place second place 3d place 4th 5th
So curry got all the vote for first and other get vote in other position
@@cyrilevain5183 ty so much I didn't know that
If Harden played defense he would’ve gotten more credit… and would probably have a chip.
0:54 dude dropped 35 20 and 5 and finished third. thats gotta suck.
That’s what I’m saying. How the hell did Russell win that season? The only thing he beat Baylor in was rebounds, and he should have, too. Bill is a center, Elgin is a guard!
Mj should of had many more mvps
Yes, at least 3-4 more
So should Kobe.
@@hainavidotcom definitely not that many
@@jasonmoukala8909 if you take away the retirement. definitely. 1989 and 90 should have gone to MJ. that's 2 right there. 97, was a hair-thin second behind Malone. so Malone can have that, but who won the chip? 94 and 95 Mj would have gotten that playing full seasons no doubt. What if he doesn't have the knee injury in 2002? his stocks were rising all the way to 30 ppg prior. 3-4 is lowball.
@@hainavidotcom nah 2002 is Duncan all the way
Baffles me Kobe doesn't have multiple MVPs. He was the best player in the world from 2001 to 2013. Meanwhile, Nash - who's an all time great PG - has two MVPs.
Well you're tripping get out of here you're frightened nonsense on the internet to argue with people he was not the best player from 2001 to 2013 don't know anything about basketball
Kobe was not the best player from 01-13, get out of here, he was the best player from 06-10, max
KOBE wasnt half the player NASH was in 05 or 06..
KOBE in 2001 and 2002 wasnt even the best LAKER player.
@@gggyy7104 07 was still DIRK.
KOBE struggled to lead his team to the last place of the play-offs in 2007..HOW can you be the best with that.
steve nash gets almost 3 mvps
chris webber didn't even get an mention in 2002 dispute having the best team and in wcf game 6 was rigged in favor for the lakers
The 2 years Steve nash won kobe wasn't in top 3 hmmm
How did Baylor NOT win 1960-1961??? And how did Wilt not win 62??
Bill Russell was easily better than Baylor in 1961. Hint: basketball isn’t just about offensive box score stats.
Notoriousakagdubb f dmoney, jrock, lil Chris, lit sisters and kd da kid rap hip-hop is "we got dem g$%$" (album is beware of D.O.G.G. n tha hood) death row/lit sisters/TXFH/interscope recording
Bill Russell is the most overrated player
Bro People don't know how to vote the right players kobe should have 4 mvps thats some people put like at 10 on a top 10 nba players of all time
stop lying..he got one and didnt even deserve that one...GASOL was the one who made those LAKERS better...WHEN GASOL got there with him they only lost 4 games in 2008.
He missed 10 games and they got 5 W and 5 L.
2005 and 2006 NASH was a lot better then KOBE who just shoot a lot.
Kobe got more votes for 1st, but Nash had more votes overall. It happened the same to Charles Barkley when he played for Philly. It was this ruke that was the reason he won only one MVP, wich is absurd.
@@paulosantiago7457 Kobe didnt got any MVP votes in 05.
And in 06 NASH was by far better.
Scoring more doesnt mean you are better (mostly because you are also shooting more).
Kobe was losing (and he couldnt blame anyone because he was the one with the ball all the time).
