Immediately my mind went to ScarJo. Child actress. Raised in NY. Attended PCS with Christy. But anyways, I severely hate bullying. It's affected me into my adult years a little bit too. I stood up to a lot of my bullies in my tweens and beyond because I was sick of the ignorant comments. I very much don't like having an odd man out in groups because I know how that feels whether that's being ignored or the center of cruel jokes. The best thing I can do is make everyone feel included and seen.

I have never been bullied but I was a bully myself when I was in elementary school. There are times that I will randomly remember mean things that I said or did to other kids and I become overwhelmed with shame and sadness. I am not that person anymore and haven't been since that time in my life long ago, however I often wish that I could meet those kids (now adults) again some day and tell them how deeply regretful I am of my actions and how sorry I am for hurting them. As crazy as this may sound, I never truly meant harm. I would lash out and even I didn't understand why. Now as an adult I understand that the abusive home that I was being raised in turned me into this kid who harmed others. To me, being mean was the "norm". The state eventually stepped in and removed me from my home but by then the damage had already been done. I despise bullying and as I got older I became the kind of person who always stood up for those who were afraid to stand up for themselves. If there's ever anyone around me who is getting bullied I will step in without hesitation and I have been this way for most of my life. If there's anyone reading this who got bullied by someone, I am sorry on their behalf. I hope you can take some solice in knowing that some of us do grow up and learn from our actions.

Now as a 27 year old, I realized that I was also a bully, not because I ever directly bullied someone, but because I never did anything to stop it and I was just on the side. I know that those that were bullied probably never hold a grudge against me, because I’m not that primary bully face, but I do feel bad now, as a mature adult, that I didn’t do anything to stop it or defend them, even tho I knew it was wrong. It was rarely physical, and when it was, it was guys smaller than me I guess because they sensed weakness, and since I've always been a big guy, they could make an example of me. Their hits wouldn't really hurt, but they'd humikiate me and I was afraid to fight back.

The thing with bullies is they don’t remember bullying they don’t remember who they bullied they just think it’s normal and a lot of the time it’s their natural personality. They have issues then and now growing up. So when the people who they bullied confront them they often don’t have any memory of it or deny doing it. It’s pretty sad, kids are cruel.

A lot of these bullies grow up in highly abusive households too. I’ll never forget working at a before and after school program where we did art and crafts until the parents could pick their kids up from school. There was this boy who would say the meanest, most cruel things to the other kids there and he was constantly on a time out. And then his dad walked in to pick him up and everything made sense. He grabbed his bully son by the collar, was screaming and swearing in his face, belittling him, mocking him, and told him he’s gonna live the rest of his life as a failure since he “can’t even win a baseball game”. It was absolutely horrifying.
These bullies don’t learn their cruel tactics from nowhere!

I remember when I was younger in my school days especially when I was a teenager I suffered a lot from being bullied and treated badly and made fun of by my classmates. Nobody with a normal mind and a normal heart wants to be bullied or mistreated for it is not a pleasant feeling. Many people would say that unpleasant experiences such as bullying can make an individual stronger since it is said that pain and rejection makes you stronger through time. I feel for ya Jeremy and hope you don't have and serious lasting effects. I tried to walk away at times but sometimes I would be surrounded by other students who would not let me leave. I'm talking 20-30. One time I finally snapped and charged at a bully. Although I did get whopped that bully left me alone after that since he saw I was no longer a passive target.

Walking away didn't work for me growing up, I was followed and harassed. My fear of fighting back didn't come from the kids, it came from my parents. I was afraid of getting suspended and disappointing them. I was known as the good kid who didn't bother people and stayed out of trouble so my parents were proud of that and I didn't want to disappoint them.

Man I can always count on you to deliver such a beautiful message. I've also learned that closure was whatever I said it was, and that I may not always get it and I would have to make peace with that. I am so glad I found your channel! I feel like it's just you and me having great conservation. Also I am be 32, and I still love watching Kim Possible on Disney Plus lol.

I hate that I’m just coming across your page within the past week.. but am so grateful I have! You have sparked my inner nostalgia as a child, but also have hit home with my inner demons, and along with helping me relate with personal things. I wish I would’ve seen these things sooner. 😂 Thank you for being so transparent, and continuing to be such a genuine role model! 💗

Just here to say I recently found your channel, I've loved everything you've done since I was a kid, and I love seeing you in Austin. That's home for me so it's been so fun to watch your videos and feel like we're walking and chatting in some of my favorite places growing up. Thank you for being our big sister. I'm the oldest, married with two babies now, and it's comforting to hear you just talk about your life experiences and share your wisdom. Thank you for sharing your heart with us!

Christy, these videos you've been doing recently are so amazing! I love seeing you talking so openly about experiences that are often universal but that a lot of people don't talk about or bury. It feels like going on a walk with an old friend. Love it!! Also, your advice is great!

This is amazing Christy. I am still in therapy from middle school bullying. I was an overweight gay kid, and it was awful. It does stay with you. It's hard to look back on those days still, but I think it's great that you are working through it and honest about it. I hope I get to the point of being at peace with it. I have grown from it mostly and I have a great 34-year-old life now, but I hope to not be hurt by those days in the future.

My biggest takeout is that we have to find peace. I was trying to find closure from the others who hated/hurt me (e.g my ex and friends who hated me to be exact) - years later and I finally agree with you: I'm not going to get that closure with most people in life, everyone has moved on, and I can totally relate.
Nevertheless, Christy, I'm enjoying your content!

I feel like I was only ever bullied by the people I called my friends in school. I was always the type of person who loved easily. It doesn’t take very long for me before someone starts to feel like a friend. I had a few friends in junior high who basically kept a diary that they passed to each other all about me. I know about the diary because long after one of the group had left the school, she came back for a visit and gave it to me. It was pretty traumatic, because I could see by the date on the diary around the time that they no longer considered me a friend, and it was a lot earlier than I would have expected. One thing I noticed when I came back for a visit once is that those girls don’t remember bullying me at all, and so I let it go. I have much better friendships as an adult that are genuine.

Wow I had a similar experience in middle school. It’s so weird when a group of friends decide to drop you inexplicably. You internalize it a lot. Especially at that age. But it’s funny you mention that they don’t remember bullying you, the girls who did the same to me all reached out years later with no memory of how they treated me. I wonder why that is.

Thank you Christy for encouraging people to be courageous and firm throughout despite the hardships
Sucks that some of these people were famous
