Catholic convert from Judaism here. Catholicism is the fulfilment of the Hebrew Scriptures. There is a way that Jews can be made to see the truth of God in Christ. If I could be made to see, then so can the other Jews.

Catholics is astounding. I should know more about how the Old Testament is fulfilled in the New. I do my daily Mass readings and commentary from the Church Fathers but it's out of whatever Bible is used in my app. but I learn the most from commentary by George Haydock. I left the Catholic Church over 50 years ago over the horrible changes that occurred from Vatican II. I grew up loving my faith and the Holy Mass. I came Home from Vietnam I felt like I was in a Protestant Church. As a result I searched and searched for something that would give me the Peace I had in G-d’s true church.Long story short converted to Orthodox Judaism 20 years ago. I am Hasidic Jew living in New York now. I went back to the source. I could never fully deny Christ. Although I thought the church had become another Protestant church.. I went to something that was the least compromised faith hoping it would bring me back to HaShem and in many ways it has, but not like what I had in the church. The sacrament of Holy Communion with the real presence! This was the purest form of closeness to HaShem. Now with all the confusion and Pope Francis and the Garbage he is now bringing to the church this is a scandal. I wouldn’t know where to go or where to pray Etc. May God Bless i

!! איזו הדרכה גדולה !! Worth the wait again, Fr. Mawdsley. Love the idea of the united wills of the Father and the Son. I remember a conversation with a Jewish friend. She asked: “Should I become a Catholic?”. I felt stumped. Yeah, she should. But, how? She was a faithful ‘Torah Jew’. The best I could come up with was: “Sure, if you want to. But first be a good Jew.”. She never brought it up again; and I had no words. So, today, my question is: Now what? Can faithful Catholics vilify Jews, blame them for everything wrong in the world, support notions of conspiracy, and insult Jewish people? Just as God blinded people or silenced them for a purpose (Zechariah, father of John the Baptist), cannot God allow people to be so close to the truth yet not able to step over into it? And, should Catholics bash the only people on earth who are that close, who at least recite this central truth every day? What would be the point of that? מה יעשה אברהם אבינו. Lots of questions. But, questions arise from interesting teaching. You’ve done it again, Fr. Mawdsley. Can’t wait until your fourth book. Happy Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord.

Regarding the prayers in the Good Friday Holy Mass for the conversion of Jews: Sadly, I found out not long ago that the TLM Priest in my area had asked permission to pray the old traditional prayers, and his request was denied (this is not private news). It's so disappointing because as you rightly said, we want souls to be saved, we want the veils to be lifted from their eyes, plus, when the Jews convert, we know (as one of your viewers pointed out on your last video) that it will be a great sign of Christ's Second Coming.

Well, there is a lot of misunderstanding there. Jesus never did anything wrong, never sinned, never committed a crime. Nobody's faith required He be punished or killed. The faith of Abraham embraced Jesus, and the Law of Moses did not allow for the illegal trial and unjust accusations against Him. I mean, nobody can reject Jesus out of reasons of faith. It is other reasons He is rejected (including ignorance).
As to the prayer, if makes a lot of sense for a lot of reasons to stick to Latin. "faithless" is not a good translation.
May I say, with respect, I think Judaism puts a lot of emphasis on 'tolerance' and 'multi-culturalism' and minorities because it suits Judaism very well that no other religion becomes too powerful. But Islam and Catholicism are not so. They are all or nothing. Obviously I think Islam is wrong. But I understand why they are all or nothing. The point is, to be true to itself, Catholicism has to be 'all' -- universal, or it is empty, zip, nothing, a lie, a human invention, wicked.
But the 'all' that is Catholicism, being from God, allows no injustice, including attempts to force anyone to convert. Where that has happened, it is not of God. I don't believe it has happened as much as the popular narrative claims, but still it should not happen anywhere.
      God bless.

Btw, speaking of the Face of God, just editing this paragraph in book no.3 (Crucifixion to Creation):
The OT feeds our faith. The Shewbread in the tabernacle was a precursor to the Holy Eucharist. God instructed Moses to set upon the sacred table “loaves of proposition in my sight always” (Ex 25:30). This word “proposition” derives from the same as for the Mercy Seat on the Ark which the cherubim covered: propitiatorium, a place of atonement, of reconciliation, of soothing. Behind the visible bread is the invisible mercy of God. In Greek the “loaves of propostion” are called the “ἄρτους ἐνωπίους”, meaning “Bread of the Face”, as in “face-to-face”, Bread of a Personal Encounter (cf. LXX Gen 16:13; Ex 33:11; Prov 8:9). In Hebrew we have לֶחֶם פָּנִים לְפָנַי תָּמִיד , “the Bread of the Presence before My Face always” (Ex 25:30). The OT guides us to where God’s Face is to be sought: in the Holy Place, in church sanctuaries, in tabernacles.

Right. In the video I said wasAdam and Eve were "trying" to take the fruit from the Tree of Life [12:30]. The fruit that they actually took was, as you rightly say, from the Tree of Knowledge, which I did not name when later I said they "took" fruit. But it fits with the sinful notion that 'scientific knowledge' enables us to steal 'life' by killing embryos to make vaccines which are supposed to keep us free from sickness and death.

You how things make sense years or decades after the fact? In 1978, I did some research to write a paper on the Hasidim in Brooklyn. As a result, I learned basic Hebrew and discovered I could understand Yiddish because of having spent five years among the Old Order Amish who speak Penna. Dutch, a Germanic dialect. I grew up in New York, so that accent was taken care of. Combine it with Yiddish and Hebrew, and I ended up understanding. I know what is 770, the Rebbe, (No, they’re still waiting, those who still think he’s the Moschiach. We Catholics had to wait only three days; they’ve been waiting 29 years!) Yes, I know about Kabbalah. It’s a form of spiritualism, not to be messed around with. When he said to take five minutes, he was actually elaborating on a verse from Tanya, a book of Kabbalah. Still, truth is truth. The devil knows and states the truth when it suits his end.
What you’re seeing here and Fr. saw on the plane, is the “veil” spoken of by St. Paul, (II Cor. 3:15). It’s so obvious, yet not to them or their descendants as the result of their sin. In a sense, the rejection is to them, almost another Original Sin whose stain continues down the generations.
Yes, the tuchus in your face was deliberate! 😮 When done to C by J, it’s a joke. When done to J by C, it’s an antiS hate crime!

Reminds me of the time we give united to the Holy Mass, even in the Little Way, which is the battle against self in giving ourselves in our duties and states in life.
It reminds me also, that Rabbic Judaism is connected to Protestantism which comes from the separation of what would be the teaching of the religion of the True God in Moses to see Christ, but them choosing the teaching of Man in the talmud and soli scriptura because they have not accepted to see His Heart and His Church by the Holy Sacrifice and the Cross being the way to sacrifice our understanding to the Wisdom of the Divine, which is as the Rabbi said the Higher thing we can sacrifice, in the spiritual life in the way Christ has done something in Spirit and Truth. I do think this is so deep to do so is to remember that connection of John saying Behold the Lamb...
We must give the Jews the same conviction, to not deny the Truth, but show them God's love by providing the Promise of the Sacrifice He Himself, to dwell amongst us and save us Himself which the Prophets foretold, and share this gift. God reward you Father.

10:44 how do they expect to carry out the "3rd Temple " sacrifices without the Levitical Priesthood? They don't have the genealogical scrolls to know every descendant from the Tribe of Levi and whose family are ethnic semites or descendants of converts?
Idk... I've always wondered just how they think they're going to pull it off exactly how the Old Law demanded?

I often think that if Abraham had of sacrificed his son Isaac that it would have been sufficient atonement for him right there and then but not for all humanity for all time, yes it was a perfect act of love from him to God but it would not suffice for the atonement of all humanity.

Father Mawdsley, I was thinking about how their may be an archetype of the Jews rejection of Christ in the Old Testament narration of the Angels rejecting God. The angels were consecrated to God (as were Jews) and both were shown Gods plan. The angels who accepted His plan became part of the heavenly host. Those who rejected God (non-serviam) felt themselves too exalted to serve simple men. Ever since they have worked to undermine Gods plan. In a similar way, those Jews who accepted Christ became Saints while those who rejected Christ (a lowly Nazorean) and his plan to perfectly fulfill the covenant and also bring the lowly Gentiles into it, now emulate the fallen angels in disrupting Gods law and leading souls to damnation.

Yes, much has been prepared. It might be, however, that claims about the red heifer and claims that they have men who can safely serve as "Levites" are all a bit of lawyer-speak. I mean, anything can be justified if your lawyers are capable enough! In any case, I think the project will press ahead regardless. It is by no means true worship, but it is very significant. It's a sign for us, and everyone will have to choose which way they go. God has everything in hand: His true Temple is Christ.

@@ScriptureandTraditionFrJM Reading these comments about the third temple reminded me of an article I read several months ago where the Israel government was testing the DNA all immigrants coming into Israel to verify their Jewish ancestry. It occurred to me that if their scientists have somehow isolated the Levite's DNA maybe that could be a way to identify some people that they could claim are from the line of Levi? Just a thought or maybe I read too much science fiction 😊

    • @ScriptureandTraditionFrJM
      @ScriptureandTraditionFrJM  Před rokem +1

I wondered the same. Even if it cannot be done, that won’t prevent claims that it has been done. Or else, if it were possible to identity 12 general groups, however mixed up now, and one came out more defined than the others, it could be of Levi, as there were less cross marriages with other tribes from the priests. But I don’t think anyone is claiming DNA can carry such details of ancestry. In any case, they already have various legal arguments to get around it.

More precise when our Lord Jesus Christ's heart was pierced he was already dead but mary felt it .....which means one can see or have beatific vision only if he follows the dictum: ad Jesum per Mariam(genesis 3:15)
The message of fatima is the all about this imitation of our lady her love for god ,a perfect self sacrifice which we gain when we have perfect devotion to her immaculate heart ... where our lords kingdom got established....still being established in every heart that believes this dictum and only through this dictum, one will attain salvation ....

I have a question about the word "perfidious" in the pre-1955 liturgy. I don't question that it is the correct word, but I wonder why it's the correct word. If Jews are blinded to the truth, it seems that they are not perfidious (meaning treacherous, purposely unfaithful & deceptive), but just unintentionally blind. Maybe the prayer is referring there to those Jews who ARE intentionally treacherous, or to those Jewish leaders in the time of Christ who were intentionally treacherous. ???

Is Rabbinic Judaism the legitimate continuation of Judaism? A Judaism which has no Temple to perform the bloody sacrifices as required by the Old Covenant? In fact, there is no sacrifice performed in Rabbinic Judaism. How is G-d to be worshipped quo G-d without a sacrifice as demanded by the Old Covenant? Sacrifice is the rightful worship given to G-d alone. We can give praise and glory to people, the heroes of our nations and cultures, but what is the only thing that can be given to G-d alone? It is sacrifice. Without sacrifice, there cannot be worship known as Latria.
I would also point out that Rabbanic Judaism began around 170AD with the writing down of the Mishna by Judah haNasi, this form of non-Covenantal Judaism did not exist prior. Covenantal Judaism continues in the Catholic Church. IT IS THE COVENANT WHICH MADE JUDAISM, It is a covenant which made the Catholic Church. Jews were supposed to be a covenanted people. So if G-d is rejecting the covenanted sacrifice, something is wrong or changed for Jewish people.
Behold the days shall come, saith the Lord, and I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:" [Jeremias 31:31] LXX
Why with the House of Judah and not with all the tribes? Because Jesus is from the House of Judah and a direct descendent of David.

    • @ScriptureandTraditionFrJM

It is just one among various reckonings from the rabbis. After Isaac's Binding (Gen 22), almost the next thing we hear is of Sarah dying aged 127 (Gen 23:1). She was 90 when she gave birth to Isaac. This makes him 37 at the time of his Binding.
This is not cast iron, but perfectly credible. One can argue for other, younger, ages too.
