Thanks everyone for all the advice, once we get this cow shed done were super excited to start on the barn which I think will be an epic journey so thanks for all the comments as it's helping us plod on through and overcome any issues we face. Have a lovey weekend everyone 🎉😊
When you've got a ride on mower you made it in life 😃😃
It sounds weird but I've always wanted one. I have no desire for a sports car but a ride on mower is perfect hahhaha
Great progress guys, well done getting those beams up, a real achievement.👍❤
I honestly didn't think it could be done with the two of us hahah 🤗
Excellent two wins today!
Indeed we were very lucky it started so easily 🤞🤞🤞
Congratulations! One step closer.
Indeed thankyou so much 🙏🤗
Goodness you two are a force to be reckoned with getting those beams up and in place.
We're here watching and cheering you on. Love the riding lawn mower, what a wonderful addition to the team.
Take good care guys and be well 🤗💕~ Lacy, Mike & Hamish🐾
PS. Enjoyed the IG motor biking feed ~ around your area with Theo.🏍🏍🏍
Haha thankyou. We need every last cheer we can get 🤗 yeah the motorbike day was so fun. It was so beautiful up in the mountains. Is your insta the one with the robin? 🤗🤗🤗
Strong wife, happy life !😅
Hahahha indeed. 🤗🤗🤗
Well done. Looking forward to seeing the next video 👍😊
Thankyou Tom 👍
Hi Dave and Sofia!
You must feel a great satisfaction checking off yet another project from your "to do list"!
The mower will come in quite handy! Love the videos and the content! Great job, keep smiling! Have a fantastic weekend!👍❤🥰
It felt amazing getting the beams up I honestly didn't think it could be done ha. The mower is great needs a bit of tlc but could be such a useful tool to have. Feels like a go kart haha 🤗🤗
@@escapetothequinta haha..
Like your sense of humor!👍
If you can't laugh what else can you do haha
Well done job! Congrats! Those beams are so heavy, but you managed that.👏👏👏 I loved the new toy. It was fun seeing you in the fields driving happily. kkkkkkk. Have a lovely weekend!
It felt like a go kart haha. The grass is a bit too long so may have to strim and then keep on top of it with the mower. I am an F1 fan so may have to put a Ferrari logo on and number 44 hahhah. You too have a lovely weekend 🙏🤗🤗
@@escapetothequinta Put the logo and number🤭🤭🤭🇵🇹
I think I've got too now hahah
Awesome, a must have for your garden.👍❤
It feels like mario kart driving it hahhh 🚗
Lol, I was thinking that you need to get a kidney belt if you cut at that speed.👍😂
I wish it went that fast hahahha would be done in 5 mins 😎🤗
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PROGRESS, I WILL BE FOLLOWING WITH GRATEFULNESS.
Thankyou Antonio, are you in Portugal too? 🤗🤗🤗
@@escapetothequinta YES I'M FROM THE NORTH
AHH beautiful up there I was riding up near the Serra de estrellas last week. Magical place. I have a friend in Covilha and there are some wonderful places there 😎🤗🙏👍
Still can't believe we got those beams up! 😅 so proud of us ❤
More you then me 🍯
We think its the Vespa of mowers! Nicely done.
The brand or just that type? It's seems quite good though I think the pulley band could do with replacing it seems a little loose and cracking slightly. I'm glad I don't look too daft on it hahhha 🤗🤗🤗
Haha based solely on looks as stated by my 6 year old!! But my husband does hope we haven't seen the last of the other tractor!
No the tractor is one of the next things on the list....... Talking of Vespas I have an very old lambretta which will need restoring at some point hahah 😎
Thanks for your vid 😇💟💟💟 Love and bless you guys, good work guys 👍😁💪.
Thanks so much seriously means a lot 🤗
❤
Thankyou for your support I see you pop a message in every week. Really appreciate the support 👍🙏❤️❤️❤️
You should but the beams over that then make the lintel with bricks so could be more resistent
Would be cool to use those red bricks 🧱
Great job💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks 💯
Beams are looking great mate and very level 👌🏼
Thanks bro.... It's been a chore ha
👍👌
Thankyou 🤗🤗🤗
Eso va pareciendo una casa 💚
Thankyou 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Well done, team work makes the dream work😊
It does indeed.... Lots more to go but honestly we love every day. Feel like we're in heaven ha 🤗
One step closer indeed!! Well done…and a ride on lawn mower…wah! Living the country dream. Thanks for the video guys.
Thanks dude! We are living in the country dream man ..... Lots and lots to do but the fresh air everyday is a dream! Love the cap 🧢
Lucky it wasn't an electrical storm......
I know right hahhha ⚡✨⚡
😮 Strong Sophia 💪 Well done you two ... beam by beam ...
Thankyou she really out did herself, strong as an ox 🤗🤗🤗
You have an hydrostatic transmission on the rear differential and that has to 2 things you need to keep an eye on, the fluid level and that the cooling fins near the fan are free of grass clippings so it won’t overheat if that tranny goes bad you’ll have to push it to cut grass
Ahhhhhh I'll need to try and find where the fluid goes. Is it specialist gear box oil or motor oil? I don't like the idea of pushing it hahahhhaa 🤗
@@escapetothequinta it’s a type of hydraulic oil for transmissions if you go online and go to your tractor manual you will get the exact grade and you will find it easy in dyi stores
Ahhh that's awesome I'll try and find what type it needs and check the levels in it to make sure it's not too low thankyou so much Jamie 🤗🙏😎
Good job🐨🩷🐨🌸🌸
Thankyou. 🤗🙏👍
Im not sure I'll fit on that mower 😂😂😂
That's exactly why I want to see you on it hahhhh 🤗
Just being curious - why not put it stright onto the terminals on the battery, instead of through those small wires??
I did try but the jump leads couldn't bite the terminals as they were too big. I was lucky I had those bits of wire laying around hahah. I wonder what that port is to the left of the battery though could it be like a trickle charge port maybe that would be cool
Some serious heavy lifting there, great you guys managed to get them in! Why steel and not wood? Cheers Bert
Heya Bert. Well we went with metal as if we went wood it would have to be like 30cm x 30cm to span the 8m which would have been way too much money however I do think I want to clad them in wood so they look prettier what do you recon. Yeah was some real teamwork there, Sophia is a tough cookie ha 🤗🤗🤗
@@escapetothequinta Heya Dan, well I would have gone from the front-door wall to the back wall, every 600mm would have taken about 12 beams in total from about 1700x650mm, Then us 18mm underlayment sheets to cover it up with some nice Portuguese roof-tiles. Inside between the beams you then could have placed insulation. You would be having partly visible beams for character on the inside. Anyway long story from me how I would go about, carpenter's brain here ;))). Your idea about cladding them in wood sounds great. What type of roof are you guys considering?
That was the original plan but the price of wood here has tripled in the last year which made that option way too costly ...... But will need to bit the bullet for the barn as I want big chunky exposed beams. I love seeing old wood it's fantastic. I'd love to learn to carve some spoons and a cup. 🤗🤗🤗
@@escapetothequinta I would still have to seriously look into that, about expenses and what not. Prices here in the Netherlands have gone down and are about normal level again. What sort of construction markets do they have there and are they also online so I can check out pricing? Planning on moving hopefully as early as next year round summer and look for property up North of Portugal. Your plan for the barn sounds exciting!!! Saying that your whole homestead is a very nice property with a lot of potential!!! Cheers Bert
One of the main outlets is called Leroy merlin and I think their website works across the world the one nearest me is bricomarshe but the website never worked for me in the UK. But going to lumber yards and things is apparently a lot cheaper. North Portugal is wonderful I have a mate up there near guarda and it's stunning up there my latest Instagram posts are us trail riding up there and it's out of this world 🤗 I haven't regretted the move one bit. We have quite a lot of people from the Netherlands here too it seems like it's quite popular moving here now. I have no regrets and I don't think you will have either. When you start looking though I'm happy to help 🙏
Hey guys another great video! Really nice work in the cow shed! But today my question is, how did that ride on mower did fit in your van? And above everything, where did you got a mower with a freaking cup holder? That just made my day! A cup holder on a lawn mower, you're living the life! xD
Hahah next time I use it on a video will need to use the cup holder just for you buddy 🤗🤗🤗 it's a big old car haha but it just fit if it was any bigger it would have been game over ha
Ahahahah you do need to use it! Maybe a cold snack would look great there xD (don't drink and drive kids!) I think you're better than me on Tetris to get that done xD You need a 4x4 truck for all your adventures for sure! @@escapetothequinta
That's the dream. I'd love an old land cruiser hahah ...... Need to keep dreaming
I do love those! Open bed or closed? I do have a 2002 Mitsubishi L200 and I can say they are very cheap to maintain and they are like tanks! Best thing ever to work with, taking wood from the forest, moving seed or fertiliser, moving small bales around! For 10 years was my only car, I make almost 600kms with the same engine! @@escapetothequinta
Open for sure!!!! Yes those are amazing trucks. All trucks are so expensive in Portugal though would love an old d21 but would have to stay local as they are not great in fuel. What are those fiat pickups like. Look like the front end of a Punto with a flat bed ha
I wouldn't sow beets in pots, just direct sow for best results.
Dang I'll have to do that next time ill try and transplant them while they are still young. Never grown them before but they have just started popping up .... So exciting
No you are doing right with the beets, you can do it either way, x
May have to try both and see which ones do best. I have heard though some plants really don't like being moved once planted 😬😬😬 hopefully these do okay. I was going to put them between asparagus as they are shallow rooted and shouldn't interfere with each other
Spending time mowing seems wasted time, since a few sheep would eat the grass and work well for land management.
Yes that is the plan at some point but unfortunately we haven't got the infrastructure yet for sheep need to get the borehole working for sure first and fill up the water tower that way I know they will have water all summer. But definitely on the list I was more thinking goats but now I'm edging towards sheed as we have much more grass then weeds 🤗🤗🤗
