Not only is this program done with style and grace, even the music and the cinematography done beautifully ! Very elegant and tastefully done ! An wonderful addition to anyone who adores history and wishes to preserve it !
Beautiful beyond words
perfectly put....what a wonderful and soothing series
@1:26:53 That mist hanging low over the grounds and surrounding the great house looks just amazing. What a great image.
I never wanted this program to end. Beautifully made. Just an incredible series.
Same!!! 3 hours and 40 minutes was too short 😅
Omg that rose wallpaper. As a child I lived in an old farm house built in 1800s. It had rose pattern paper throughout. I miss that house. It's been gone almost 50 years but it will always be my perfect memory of what home feels like.
To me it’s great to see on video historic places in all their splendor without a lot of tourists. I’m very thankful for the many wonderful historical documentaries that are produced.
Maravilhoso obrigado
There is not much place for lots of tourists where the Real Royalty are.
Excellent series! So well presented and thought out. Fascinating and informative, as well! Even the music was perfect! Thank you so much for this peek into Britain's rare treasures that we normally don't get to see and otherwise may have never even known about! This was educational and beautiful!
I love history and all the magnificent architecture. Also that family in spite of the span of time still stands together to manage and tend the care of these historic Treasure Houses of Britain.❤
Thank you for sharing this astonishing series! Everything about it is perfect! They couldn't of matched better music to the lovely scenery... Every episode at some point, brought me to tears. Thank you to all the marvelous custodians of these wonderous homes. I was there for 3 hours 40 mins.
the painting of Hell and of Heaven are beyond breathtaking, just stupifyingly beautiful and jaw dropping. How some humans can create masterpieces in stone, wood, metal, paintings, etc...really makes you proud of the human species sometimes. .. sometimes.
I totally agree, would absolutely love to be in either room, especially Hell in the evening with the candles flickering.
Greetings from the windy city of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia 🇪🇹 🇪🇹 🇪🇹 🇪🇹. We live and work today in the age of boring buildings made up entirely from Concreat, Aluminium and glass. This country houses across Great Britain and Europe surely will inspire todays and future Arcthects and Engineers and borrow them Ideas. They also give us hope we still have a functional houses from the past. They also bear moment of nostalgia about the good old days. Down here in my country, due to poor urban planing and sometimes greadiness of Authorities countless historical buildings which registered to the Heritage council were demolished in the past 15 years alone to lease the land for big money. Today for visitors caming to my city, there is little to show of the past. Thankfully the National Meusium and other Meusium around the country collected the historical and natural wealth as much as they could. British peoples you have to be proud of your tradition, history and culture. Great Job by the Castodians of the past and present. Merry Christmass!
Hello from Windy city of Chicago
Sad to hear about the demolished buildings!😔
I think now many of these dynastic families have inherited grand homes but not the fortunes required to maintain them and they are either falling into disrepair or being sold off.
Lovely comment, so sad to hear about the demolitions! love from UK🇬🇧🤍
Setting precedent makes legal process progressively easier until only one or two endangered structures remain. With at least one not having recieved timely maintanance, thus already faced with valid reason for demolition rather than endanger public regardless of any cultural historical value. By sitting on their hands rather than encouraging rehabilitation action
12:05, that chest of drawers is so beautiful.
As I’m watching I keep thinking about all the dusting and cleaning needed to keep everything so tidy....the dusting alone, with all those objects, surfaces and not to forget the number of rooms.
Yes indeed....all the dusting and cleaning....not a word about the amount of slavery involved....easy for them all to have unearned titles because of accidents of birth because of whose wombs they came out of....
Don't you worry ! I think they do not open all rooms everyday, and they do not clean but when journalists come. Have a nice Easter week-end. Love from France.
I would gladly spend weeks of my time cleaning, polishing and performing chores in this property. Imagine the education you would receive just being in the midst of the furnishings!
there are around 5/6 properties, that's why this video is so long, it does say below it that is the full video
so which Stately Home do you mean?
I'll speak for the OP and say "any will do!"
I'm sure the staff 100 years ago would disagree.
I agree. I would absolutely be free help just to spend time in places like these.

The Burghley House Episode…THAT collection! I applaud the family, for all those generations with keeping not only the “castle” upright, but for maintaining that exquisite collection intact! I was aflutter with the sight of that de Medici cabinet. It’s probably the most beautiful piece of furniture I’ve ever seen! I can’t wait to visit with my daughter one day.
We have nothing like this in America, with all the centuries of history, building and collecting. I doubt I will ever get to England to visit any of these magnificent properties so this was a beautiful way to enjoy architecture, landscaping and decorative arts from the past and into the future. I adore history and relished every moment of this series. Thank you!
What about the gilded age mansions? Like Hearst castle or Biltmore or the breakers? Just because YOU haven’t visited them doesn’t mean they don’t exist
wonder remark. some rude people in here. Beutiful film
BEYOND REPEAT, BEYOND ALL HOPE OF DESCRIPTION STUNNING!!! Even in my imagination and mind, I can't even begin to comprehend the level of mastery, beauty, detail, craftsmanship, creativity and MAGNIFICENCE in even just ONE of those mind bogglingly astounding houses.
And today, after all these grandeur, culture, innovation, mastery, achievements, art, science, technology, discoveries, and leading in the evolution of conscience and the age of enlightenment, in the emancipation of the masses and in the establishment of democracies, people, who just yesterday lived in cow dung huts, shake their fists in front of our faces and yell "what has the white man ever accomplished? He is only a blue eyed devil." That's ignorance and jealousy speaking. The white man has accomplished more than any race on earth because, I believe, he is the smartest human..
Llll
Thank You for Posting this three hour marathon of these marvelously made TREASURE HOMES OF BRITAIN 🇬🇧 - a sumptuous journey: A superb production, especially with the interviews of the current *[ guardians ] ..owners, with the impeccable Selina Scott- she has the perfect touch with stylish delivery extenuating the full trajectory of the Series. Perfect, and full of historical detail . I've absorbed it all. 🌍🌿🌍
This was AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! It's as if time has stopped when you enter these grand palaces.
Beautiful filming. Soft voice of the narrator. No crazy music in the background. Relaxing to watch.
Absolutely fabulous! I love history. I wish I could visit & feel the history!
The music, homes, and landscape are marvelous
Love the series and excellently researched families and oh goodness those homes! As an American I am just humbled by the number of such properties and magnitude of what these leading families accomplished. Granted the means to such ends can and should be questioned, but regardless, it is something I hope to see one day. The Cecils have truly borne the brunt of their success. “Never trust a Cecil” seems very deep seated in public sentiment, much like our Rockefeller and Morgan families! Michael, Albuquerque NM USA
I can't imagine the overwhelming weight of responsibility & well thought out business decisions made daily. Those who came before would have much to be proud of with this generation at the helm. Impressive
Sooo beautiful!, Never let these houses go! What history and beautiful treasures. These houses tell a story that should never be forgotten. Hopefully I will get to visit these estates! Thank you for inviting us into your home!
Very impressive collection of craftsmanship. Too concentrated for me as an outsider. I get the impression you end up walking by them like ordinary stuff. Each peace deserves a certain part of attention and admiration. Bundled together the marvels they should create become an incredible weight. It makes me think of these giant Galapagos turtles. Just the few objects i maintained from my grandfather’s heritage kept me busy for 10 years. I can’t imagine what it would be like to have these kind of cargo ships storming towards you. So I admire the people who keep these places alive. If I’d have to add a contemporary object it would represent the generations of family members pushing these buildings forward through the centuries.
I'm watching from Arizona USA and came upon your beautiful vlog. Wonderful history.
Blenheim Palace seems more appropriate for an Emperor, it seems utterly extraordinary. I cant wait to visit it.
I loved this video !!! Fascinating to say the least. Breath taking , there’s truly no words to describe how amazing these properties are and how the people who lived in them .
Incredibly fascinating Indeed!👍
Everytime i feel down i watch this video.. the houses and music just make me happy
Thank you for this. I spent a wonderful time looking at the beautiful sights while absorbing the interesting facts
This Film is really Very Bright-Brilliant. It was very kind of you to deign to give me opportunity to behold this Stupendous video!! I gratitude for this!! Let is all Holy Ghosts and Angele and Gods will be exalt your light and bright Souls Forever and Ever!!

Such beautiful treasures these are- and 3+ hours worth I'm obsessed! Thankyou
What a lovely man to listen to! I love it! I could listen to him all day! Such history! So exciting!
Absolutely fantastic! Wish this was an ongoing series. 💯♥️🌷
You know you're living in a great house when even the house has it's own name.
I wish you would show the kitchens in these amazing homes.
The American Cecils, who became such after marrying into the Vanderbilt family, now preserve our greatest American home, Biltmore
I have viewed the first three homes, will pickup where I left off tomorrow. Incredible. Wonderful insight, commentary, photography, hosted by a beautiful English rose. Thank you for elevating my taste, and understanding. All my best
Absolutely breathtakingly stunning. The guaity of the video is exceptional. Superb.

Went to Blenheim palace over the weekend and it was absolutely stunning and the gardens were incredible
Good Lord, I watched the whole thing. Love these grand old places!
Absolutely beautiful designer decorations of arts.
Remarkable, absolutely. Thank you for this
I Absolutely love History! Thank you for the Amazing tour!!
As I move to a new house this year, and I watch this, I feel sad for those houses that are long gone and could've house a lot of families around the world that are homeless right now because of crises. It also brings to light the historical value of locations that I wish was emphasized more and taught to children more so that they care for it, like the grandest of palaces and humblest of cottages today. Honestly though, I wish I could live in a grander house with my whole family, where you can live in something with history and get lost in all the rooms yet even the poorest man in the world can appreciate it.
That was throughly enjoyable!!! That chateau is so beautiful! You were a lovely "sitter" for the lady of chateau painting and Philip! Such fun!! 😊
Chatsworth- not only belonging to the Cavendish Family- but the nation as well , and this marvelous innovation of an OPEN HOUSE- is quite remarkable. 300 years strong. Unfortunately this innovation is now lost in modern oligarchs and their crippling greed, corruption. and high crimes. 🌿🌏🌍🌎🌿
wat is er dan aan de hand Marius?
what have oligarchs got to do with this?
@@lsmith9249
Maybe some oligarchs purchased Stately Homes

The show is magnificent.
Fantastic series! Well done and ty 🇨🇦
Absolutely beautiful treasures.
Aristocrats do have exquisite taste- timeless in a way but never goes out of style.💖💖💖
stately homes in our country are centuries old and taste didn't matter, everything they bought was to show
their wealth and status
Amazing beautiful history of houses so interesting designs of furniture
2:50:47 *"What has Britain given the world."* - *Lord Cook, Holkham Hall*
I appreciate this man's Authentic Attitude, his quick statement, (not replied to, but not edited out), is a most honest statement for countless people around this globe, including me, (born in Chicago, USA, and disconnected from my true place of lineage, and from the Country that should be my home.) When we are speaking to History, lineage, families, ours was "interrupted" by Britain, and never a word of remorse, rather a continued sort of animosity lingers towards us. As if we did something, wrong.
I really appreciate his thought.

I had the privilege of visiting England in 1985. I was able to tour Chatsworth and Blenheim. I was in awe.
I live in western Canada. My mother's family were of royal ancestory in England.
Loved the whole of the country.
You live in a beautiful nation!
Gorgeous monuments
Beautiful historical treasure.😍❤️🇬🇧
It's nice to see you still have some beautiful untouched places in Britain 🇬🇧
I live down the road from Chatsworth house ,❤
For the record, in the early 1950's, Queen Elizabeth II offered a dukedom to Winston Churchill. He respectfully declined, telling her that he wished to remain a commoner.
No-one makes stuff like this anymore. Just gorgeous.
Great data, of my Family was so Distance from most of Family from Landouc Province of Southern France 🇫🇷,Love the History of England 🏴 as well.
Thank you for the full series video much love
Huh. I remember watching a 1980s US-targeted "Treasure Houses" at Burghley with Lady Victoria Leatham who lived in the house.
Among all of the other condition issues both with the building and its contents, she was concerned with the restoration of the deteriorated bed curtains in the Queen's bedroom at the house. It was something like "It will be possible to order more [fabric] from Italy where the pattern still exists, but the cost would be some $800 per meter, and Lady Victoria would need 42 meters."
Lady Victoria also told a story about "Tripping over a box of Ming on the stairs to the minstrels' gallery," and how the house didn't have electricity until the 1950s, and even then it was limited to a single long extension cord that ran all through the house, upstairs, "To power [her] grandfather's electric razor."
This video was totally amazing! 😊 It’s it funny that most of these grand houses and castles were furnished and decorated mostly by men. So what were the woman doing? Rearing children and socialising? I wonder if they would feel depressed with all of those massive dark cold rooms and feeling isolated out where there is no one for miles and miles. I bet because the places were so big, they may not have used a lot of the rooms. And of all men collectors travelling the world to obtain these objects, did the wives have to stay home? Where is the woman’s touch on any of these homes besides the tea cup and the paintings of them. It makes you wonder. Ite wonderful to know that these places are open to the public. It’s totally incredible that these houses are still standing. I would love to visit and just be a volunteer helping to keep things looking perfect. I’m sure if you lived there long enough, the novelty would wear off a little. But omg it’s a real time look back in history and it’s so pricless
These places that are the historical consciousness of us the British will one day play a big part in our renewal.
Such a great opportunity of documentary moments fabulous stories 😀 ❤️ 👌 😊
Thank You ALL family and members of the team that supports this property that I may today lay my eyes upon it. I have loved England and Britain all my life but at this point I realize I won’t likely ever set foot upon those shores. I’m certain I am not alone in that rather sad conclusion. Therefore I can only offer my deepest respect and gratitude to witness this lovely place through this program.
💯♥️👍
Those Elizabetians & their flamboyant dress sense! beautiful 🎨 🖌 portrait paintings 🖼.... the Victorians, too.
.... excess overload in their styles, clothes, homes, habits...different world 🌎 & interesting.
It was like that for the very few unfortunately.
Amazing Tartarin Moorish palaces built by much taller people before the cataclysmic liquefaction of the 1800s. So much beautiful history removed from humanity. One day everyone will know our true history. 🙏🏻
Taller people? If anything, the people of Britain are taller now. Look at York Shambles, tiny doorways for the smaller people that lived back then (1350 AD-1475 AD). Have you been watching certain CZcams content claiming giants roamed & we are being lied to? Even claiming Berlin is designed for giants? If so, you are being lied to, by the quacks that spew that disinformation out.
Fabulous architective monuments.
Fantastic series, loved it. Can't wait to see more episodes.
Luv history
Thanks for sharing absolutely great
Beautiful landmark. From California.
This is a delightful series. I saw some of the grand estates, but none to rival Blenheim
Delightful and educational video and I enjoyed the presenter very much indeed. THANK YOU
GORGEOUS, BREATH TAKING
The music tracking is fantastic
What has Britain given the world? GREATNESS to be sure.
Jerusalem - Willam Blake (1757-1827)
And did those feet in ancient time
Walk upon England's mountain green?
And was the holy Lamb of God
On England's pleasant pastures seen?
And did the countenance divine
Shine forth upon our clouded hills?
And was Jerusalem builded here
Among those dark satanic mills?
Bring me my bow of burning gold!
Bring me my arrows of desire!
Bring me my spear! O clouds, unfold!
Bring me my chariot of fire!
I will not cease from mental fight,
Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand,
Till we have built Jerusalem
In England's green and pleasant land. ~ With Great Love from Canada ~
Beautiful
What a great video so colourful and interesting, I enjoyed it very much indeed
Great documentary very good thank you👍👍👍
Thanks for the remarkables moments .
Thanks for the remarkable moments ✨️ 😀 😊 ❤️ 🙏
58:22 In this amazing maximum-rococo room at 58:00, there's no place for the eye to rest. It's like screaming children trying to rip your eyes out. BUT THE MARCHING GRINNING GREEN WATER GOLLUM'S! it doesn't get any better or more surreal than that!!!
Great documentary thanks for posting
Out of all the grand houses I have seen/visited over the years, none of them has ever beat Robert Adams Culzean Castle on the Ayrshire Coast. It may not be the grandest or most extravagant (arguable) castle/country house in the U.K, but the castle sitting above terraced gardens on a clifftop location with the sea and mountains as the backdrop is just unbeatable.
The home of the Kennedy family Marquess of Alisa.
@@notnek202 It was indeed. Culzean Castle was just one of many castles to be built/owned by the Kennedy family over the centuries. Culzean actually has a twin, Dalquaharran castle, though it's an empty shell now.
@@OrganMusicYT my favorite country house is Wentworth Woodhouse home of the former earls Fitzwilliam.
@@notnek202 It doesn't get any bigger than that...!
Exquisitely Classy
Awesome intro music
Such great places for weddings celebration moments ✨️ 😊 😍 💕 ❤️
So much cleaning shining polishing dusting
Such a great fantastic antique of paintings 🖼
These poor people need more respect from their government. This is actually sad
Awesome. Thank you.
Georgiana Spencer was born at Althorp! She was a gambling addict and almost bankrupt Chatsworth. She was a wild woman.
It didn't help that she was married off to one of the nastiest pieces of work in the aristocracy in a day when a woman couldn't just walk out and keep her place in society.
She was incredibly unhappy. Although when she did die The Duke was said to be distressed. Obviously not too distressed as he went on to marry Bess. Georgiana did triumph in the end though as when her son inherited the dukedom, he threw Bess out, never married or had children.
Excellent documentary. Didn’t noticed the 3 hours
