  • This is a re-upload of the video I originally uploaded on April 5, 2017. One person commented that there was an error regarding one of the birds.
This is a clock that my Grandparents Menninga got in 1998. This clock plays one of twelve species of birds every hour on the hour.
This clock was passed down to me in 2007 when they moved to Stoughton, Wisconsin. My sister loves the sounds of this clock, too. She has a similar clock, but it can sit on a desk. She got it from my great-grandmother, who originally had it before she passed away in 2010.

This is kind of off-the-wall, but this is the clock my grandparents have and the bird sounds no longer work. I remember all the sounds it made from when I was a kid, and recently I've been hearing birds that distinctly make the song of one of the birds from this clock but I haven't seen any of them to identify it (I've heard them before but there seem to be more here this year). Turns out it's the white throated sparrow! Thanks for this vid, helped me out

What do you think of this? I'd like to make a clock like this one day. My version of this clock would be electric-powered. I would have a way that one could choose what species of bird they want to hear for each hour. I would provide recordings of all kinds of bird species, not just limited to twelve of them, so anyone who wants a clock from my company could put in their request what species of birds they'd like to hear on each hour. As an example, the bird calls I would set on each hour for me are as follows:
    1:00: White-Throated Sparrow
    2:00: European Starling
    3:00: American Robin
    4:00: California Scrub Jay
    5:00: Wood Thrush
    6:00: Canada Goose
    7:00: Trumpeter Swan
    8:00: Barn Swallow
    9:00: Swainson's Thrush
    10:00: Black-Capped Chickadee
    11:00: Northern Bobwhite
    12:00: Common Crow

There is a button on the back to sync the hour and the bird call. We always use the morning dove as our key, it is the only call we don't like!
