I believe this project will take twice as long to build and twice as much to fund. When does such projects keep to deadlines and budgets? This build will require skill sets and technology yet to be(I find this project both intriguing and exciting) Good luck to 'The World'...........
What will happen wen fire broke out...were they evacuate this much people 🙄 it will be a disaster.. building are in close proximity so the fire spread rapidly it will be an insane idea really.. must have practical solution for this problem
There's almost certainly a tech solution. High powered sprinklers, oxygen starvation, etc. The only issue that prevents these today are limitations of implementing new tech into old structures, city regulations, the people's democratic voice and of course... cost. But for the Line, these will probably not be an issue. They can implement the new tech directly into the new structures, city regulations won't be a problem because there are no regulations yet, and people have no democratic voice. As for the cost issue .. there is NO cost issue.
Fire won’t be an issue but disease will. Could never stop the spread of a virus in a place like this.

My greatest wish for mankind is that we start building space habitats.
Its going to take time but we need to adapt. Building space habitats also means we humans must create a safe and new form of artificial gravity that is not centrifugal.
If they will make this a little bit shorter likek 250 meters high I think they might be able to pull it off.

It is happening. Quite a lot of construction works are going on. They are recruiting people to live and work there. One of my friends is thinking of working there and has visited the site. He says it’s a lot of desert right now with a lot of trucks moving sand. They have already built a fully functioning hospital and airport.

What a waste of money when they could genuinely build a city to help people prosper and set an example for efficiency and environmental responsibility😔 :(
I think they have a high chance of successfully completing this project. It will probably not look exactly how it was planned to look, but it will be workable and different. Rather than place band aids on top of old band aids on top of old wounds, they create a new environment which rectifies old flaws, and begin again with fresh new problems.
Ever considered that this could be the start of a new way for nations to build cities or towns.
I absolutely love that a country is taking initiative and they are not borrowing it from other people but they are actually doing it because they beleive it is possible that 90 million can live in a self sustainable city.
If this works and i hope it works.

They can’t do that. they depend on promising the poor from other countries better lives, then trap them in the Dubai slums so they never actually make enough to send money back home AND can’t afford to go back home. Essentially modern day slavery and most people living there don’t even know. I got half a dozen friends that moved over there(half pretty wealthy) and none of them are very aware of how that place got built. I think there’s some crazy statistic like 60% of the population lives in some tiny slum where multiple families share what looked like a 200-400sqft shack. All that poverty and the country is literally run by multi trillionaires.
If people listen to naysayers like you, nothing innovative or progressive would have been accomplished.
It's cool and all but there will be no privacy, also too ambitious so I think they should just make a small portion then go from there.

It’s very hard to believe that this vision will go anywhere at all. Who will live like this? And in a country not well known for respecting human rights. I wonder if this video was funded by MBS himself.
The reason why this hasn't been tried before is the design is bottlenecked. The design is too long to feed water uphill and remove human waste. The Great Wall of the desert.

What a waste of money on construction. Who is going to want to live in jail without being able to go out into the outside world? And if someone attacks this line in a war or in sandstorms, the sand will accumulate outside until the line disappears. And who will be able to buy houses and get a job in this line? This is going to be an unoccupied Dubai.
