- What a cool performance! Tommy and Phil Emmanuel pay tribute to some of their childhood heroes, Hank Marvin and The Shadows, with a medley of their instrumental hits: Apache, Dance On, Frightened City, F.B.I., The Boys, Peace Pipe, Man Of Mystery and Foot Tapper.

Captured at the Fritz-Henßler-Haus in Dortmund/Germany in August 2005 during some kind of warm-up gig one day prior to the 2nd Tommy Emmanuel Guitar Festival in Rietberg.

Phil was a huge Hank Marvin fan, as is Tommy too. After finally playing live with Hank at a live concert, Phil was pulled over by a policeman and he had had a bit too much Jack Daniel. Phil told the policeman that he didn't care _"I met Hank Marvin tonight and played with him."_ True story!
Yes Phil is a loss that hurts so bad to us, but, let's think how Tommy must ache. This is more than stunning musicianship, this is absolutely exemplified love of brothers.
It truly breaks my heart when I watch clips of them playing together, knowing Tommy will never have that again. There was such an extraordinary bond between them 💔 they're a joy to watch 😍

Years back when Dire Straits were in Sydney they had a huge after party with Tommy and Phil playing for them and they did a lot of Shadows hits.

I love the way they did Peace Pipe. Such a great job and man Tommy was right it's important to learn rhythm guitar first. He is like having a band behind Phil's electric, but then he usually tours as a one man show/band.

+Mightymikespest Hosspeker Agreed...It's not that rare that two siblings pick up the same instrument, what's rare is how far they both took it. Years of practice to become that good you would have figured at least one would have given it up.
Talent at it's best they can nearly play the kitchen sink, great stuff.

I don't know that it's masked... it's just what goes with the electric. And the echo here is for that Hank Marvin sound. He does plenty of dry electric stuff & acoustic stuff too...
