I just adore how failsafe has a "threaten gotham" subroutine but not a "determine whether or not batman actually killed the guy" subroutine
Such a Batman thing to do
Classic case of Bruce just slightly overestimating his own abilities- same situation as the Tower of Babel
as i remember, failsafe was programmed to activate when news of batman being a killer spread around, since yknow, evidence disposal and all
i believe alfred was supposed to be responsible of making sure it didnt falsely activate but he was dead by this time
Failsafe is neither Judge Nor Jury, he is simply the executioner
@@laundrybaskets4473 yea man true
@@TokyoDrift456 The nBatman didn't account for Alfred being mortal. After all it is more a product of Bruce's paranioa than anything else.
Bro no freaking way Batman survived reentry by using his cape to slow him down.
Edit: yeah I know comic physics aren’t real, but I’m just a bit dumbfounded
Well physics agree with you, but since when do comics care about physics?
And you have to admit it is a really cool (albeit stupid) scene.

Literally taking plot armor and turning the dial up to eleven.
it's all very simple. It worked because there's a 5th dimension imp named Bat-mite that is batman's biggest fan. so he MAKES stuff like that work. nervermind surviving re-entry..surviving re-entry WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE of where he needed to go.
All batman needs is 10secs of prep time, and see he can survive re-entry to earth from 10secs of prep time 😅
@@Zack_Zander Batman is literally Superhuman , you expect what from a man capable of dodging light and tanking hits from Solomon Grundy , Killer Croc , Gotham and more
Batman survived reentry into the atmosphere.
Madness but way too cool to ignore.
I'm just glad you know how to use too,to and two correctly.🤣🤣👏👏👏👏
Like master chief
He's seen worse...
It’s because of bat mit Batman’s biggest fan a 5th dimensional imps
The return from the moon is cool and logical, and then he entered the atmosphere...
This storyline could be adapted into an amazing action movie, with Bats having to resort to ever more unusual and extreme tactics to just keep Failsafe at bay. It could also be incredibly poignant/intense/stupidly funny at the climax, with Bruce realising that there was only one way to defeat Failsafe; cross a line he swore he'd never cross.
yes, absolutley but it would need to be after justice league 3 tower of babel.
Justice league doom is this but not his contingency 😭
Batman can’t,but Darkfire would improvise.
@@Lemuel928 what?
Have yall watched the TMNT + Batman crossover movie? Batman vs Shredder takes place
Batmans mistake in creating failsafe was not also making it the world's best detective. He jus made it capable of defeating opponents but not being able to solve problems. It activated wen penguin pinned his death on Batman. If failsafe were created with the same level of detecting as Batman was it would've did sum investigation b4 acting up on its protocols. That was batmans mistake otherwise failsafe would've been perfect.
Yeah, but why bother putting deductive capabilities in a machine designed to kill him?
@@Helstiir when you make something strong enough to defeat you, making it smarter than you is just as important as making it unkillable
@@Helstiir that's the point of the issue. Creating a machine designed only to kill and not putting in deductive reasoning. Especially considering the machine wasn't designed to self destruct after it fulfilled it's purpose meaning it's suppose to continue doing batmans job after he's dead. Otherwise if Batman felt that the bat family was capable of doing the job he wudnt have created failsafe.
I agree completely, and I think Bruce would have came up with the end result himself halfway into the story. If you noticed you’ll realized that Failsafe is the real Rogue Batman here. Even if Failsafe wasn’t created with the detective skills of Batman, he would be created with the knowledge to analyze situation’s accurately before acting. The Bat Family as well as The JL support of Batman this entire arc should show he’s not rogue. Trying to stop Failsafe caused more damage than just doing what I thought of myself 5 mins in which would be completing Failsafes mission for him. Batman mission is basically self sacrifice itself, but up to the end he was trying to self preserve. Batman wouldn’t have took have this video to figure out the answer to failsafe. DC just gotta do better pushing Batman’s limits as with all we’ve seen him do, Failsafe would just he another Grunt to the real villain in the story.
The thing is detective not only solves things but can manipulate evidence so you know
"What's your contingency plan?"
"You guys."
"Bullshit you just kicked our asses accidentally. What's your real plan?"
"Ever seen Terminator?"
Batman: If I had one I would have wiped my memory of making it that way I could not stop it
Superman:....You know what, I believe you...Just hope you don't get framed and it accidently activates
Batman: You know i am erasing this conversation from my memory right?
Superman: Yeah
Gotta love the fact that Batman stopped the fight immediately and Clayface also just chose to help everyone out. Love that shit.
Just because you are bad guy doesn't mean you are bad guy
I mean he did turn clayface into a live explosive so clayface had no choice
I mean, Clayface was under threat of getting nuked out of existence
Clayface did become an ally of Batman eventually so he wasn't completely evil.
I wonder if just explaining to failsafe that Batman was framed would have been enough to stop his rampage
Hard to say, seeing as we'll never find out
I think they said Alfred was the designated keeper of Failsafe that could deactivate it, but in this story Alfred was dead and batman didn't rig up someone else to take care of it because he didn't know it existed
He didn't remember making failsafe. Ironically Batman caused more damage trying to escape Failsafe. It's like Goku, he saves the Earth but half the Earth was destroyed
Why TF didn't he have a failsafe for failsafe if the failsafe failed
For real, I love how Batman created a invincible super robot to kill himself if he ever went rogue, but it's too stupid to investigate and confirm that Batman actually did go rogue before attacking him.
Man. 50-60 years of Batman. We finally make good use of his BaTrunks.
Also, God Dangit Batman, why is it that the only enemies enough for him as of late are basically Ex Machina machines just like him?
Because he's batman
50-60 years my ass. Batman's been around since 1939. That's 85 years.
Only thing tough enough to break his plot armor
if you think about it, most stories involving batman being beaten, is when its another batman lol
@@SageMage_ who cares batman wasn’t taken seriously til 89 anyway
Batman falling from the moon without his suit even being scratched is the most bad ass thing I've seen yet.

@@iwatchstuffs7933 exactly not that much heat lol
And shit like this is why Batman sucks.
...I... still don't know why he gave failsafe kryptonite daggers if it only wants to kill Batman...
You silly what about Batman becomes Superman ?
superman protecting batman was a very likely scenario so it needed to be able to deal with superman too
Batman has gotten Superman’s power befores
batman would rather himself be killed than survive if he went full rogue. superman would not let that happen. fail safe was given the ability to kill bruce THROUGH superman and or incapacitate superman if it was needed to ensure batmans death.
Failsafe pulled those out the moment Superman showed up tho?
I love how Batman keeps screwing over all his friends with these stupid contingency plans that always end up being worse threats than the actual villains, but they always forgive him and still love him anyway lol
Well bear in mind that the universe of the batman who laughs didn't have a failsafe.
And the injustice universe didn't have his contingency plans against superman.
And the justice lords universe didn't have any contingency plans for the whole league going tyrannical.
@@andropovneveyevich9157 Actually yes, they did. The issue was that Batman, up until near the end, did not believe that the Justice Lords had 'gone out of control'. Same thing for the Injustice, better called "Sane Justice", world.
Plus flash could have just went back in time to stop batman from creating failsafe
Seriously
The damn Failsafe robot made crime WORSE in Gotham. Nice one Bruce.
All that money and time spent on Failsafe could have made Gotham a utopian wonderland city. Nope. Typical Billionaire. SMH 🤦
@@EchoDoctrine and it still failed at its job. It didn't kill Batman.
Like one would think he would make the failsafe... well FAILSAFE. That includes getting hacked by nanobots.
If anyone is wondering why Failsafe had kryptonite blades it was simply equipped with a way to put everyone that batman could get to help him temporarily out of condition. Never outright kill them. Batman knew that Superman had every way to recover from a little green kryptonite radiation eventually if it was removed before it could kill them.
You know what they say, When all else fails Failsafe but when that fail what then? Nobody is now safe.
Safe say when fail? All what say they that when now fail, safe nobody what safe? Yes.

This was a great story. I'm wondering if the universe that spawned The Batman Who Laughs didn't have a Failsafe.
That thing would be unstoppable
And thus, by asking that question, the potentiality of it exists. By creating the character of 'Failsafe' DC opened the door for multiversal Failsafes. Ones who succeeded. Ones who are still hunting.
@@MrBadmonkeycw That sounds awesome.
@touma fr got the same idea. it would be smart move, actually. Like "If i'm going to die, Gotham will be defensless. Thus, if Failsafe manages to beat me, it could take my place as even storger Batman"
@@altonbray3825 idk. If this failsafe wasn’t smart enough to deduce that Batman was being framed, it probably wouldn’t be that hard to warp it’s idea of “justice” and have it become an even worse one.
For those wondering why Failsafe had the kryptonite daggers. It’s most likely that Zen-En Arr anticipated Batman would get the aid of the other heroes. That’s why as soon as Superman arrived. Failsafe pulled out the kryptonite daggers.
Failsafe destroyed Superman like nothing
True
there's Batman around, so Superman getting jobbed is the usual.
every non-superman villain always does, because superman solves the other heroes problems too easily. only superman's villains struggle to injure or kill him. his plot armor doesn't protect him in a Batman comic.
Yea they nerf Superman
And After that people still say superman IS the Goat. what a shame
Thanks for the explanation. This is a good example of a hilariously stupid plot that's why superhero comics are often hard to defend. Genius, World's Greatest Detective has a secret sub personality that makes a murder bot to kill himself if he turns evil but does not give it the tools to do the basic work of proving if he was guilty or not of the crime he is being executed for. In the words of Marvin: "What a depressingly stupid robot."
I mean it is Batman a detective Really no one would be able to prove it was him if he tried to hide a crime
Alfred was ment to stop false alarms
@@blastphantomgames6369 But the murder bot literally knows all his ploys and skills allegedly. I agree if Batman decided to murder someone he would not be discovered in the process of committing the crime. It's fun but it's gibberish.
What's there to defends. There's always been goofy ass storylines.
@@thelastdadonearth I'm not about to tell you you're wrong to enjoy it the story. Like what you like. But it is a legitimately stupid idea for a story, which is why I think it's rubbish. YMMV
Man…. Survived falling out of space. That’s metal af
Surely fail safe would be advanced enough to double check that Batman actually killed someone, and figure out he was framed just in case something like this occurred
I think it was designed to be shutdown by Alfred in case but as he was dead
I also think it was to avoid the risk of batman destroying evidence to cover up
1. Alfred was the only one who could shut it down
2. Zur knew that Bruce, whether he became rogue or not, could lie and fabricate his way out of it. Hence, why he made sure that Failsafe wasn't rational and sympathetic enough to be compromised.
3. Bruce is at fault because he wrested control back from Zur, who was the only one capable of stopping Failsafe.
This could’ve been avoided if that man had made a failsafe robot for failsafe. Frankly, I’m surprise he didn’t have a precautionary failsafe failsafe beyond Alfred
Alfred has a shotgun so he probably didnt think it was necessary
He designed an alternative personality who created fail safe. So Batman wouldn't have known to make a secondary contingent.
I like how Failsafe's plan was such a Batman move, it basically tricked its own system into not killing Batman. But I still think this could've all been avoided if the weird Batman just added his detective skills into Failsafe, he added everything, his contingencies, martial arts, etc. So some extra brains would've also probably helped.
Superman: So it’s a fail safe for you Bruce?
Batman:Yes it is
Superman: Then why the fuck does it have Kryptonite Blades?
Edit: Wow this is a rhetorical question I don’t want you guys to answer me in the replies cause it’s happened like 4 times now
Edit 2: some of y’all are real funny down there
Plot😅
"Tom's meme: I dont know"
Maybe through thought of what if he decided to take supermans abilities to go rogue that way, i mean it has happened before although hard to say if he would have the same weakness.
It's basically counter Batman as well as all his ideas.
Failsafe is batman but better and he carry’s the same knowledge, skills, and contingency plans against the Justice league and the only reason why he has it is to make sure Superman and other characters stay out of his way of his purpose which to kill batman
I love what you did with the robotic voice of failsafe.
This was an epic story that I could see filmed in Sin City style. But with a few more colors than red, like green of the kryptonite. Each character would have a singular defining color amidst the high contrast greyscale colors. The change from red to blue would be an intense moment and batman would wake up in a colorful world. Lol, now imagine Gotham in light pastel colors.
Love this idea
such kreativity!
Dude fell from fuckin space like it was nothin
It's not such a big deal when you think about it... 😄😄
No one can tell me that Batman is just a human when he literally survived reentry and just got up and walked it off.
Superman’s Entrance to help Batman with the Failsafe was pretty cool (no pun intended) lol
the amount of plotarmor is insane
Foreskin?
There aren’t many villains or hero’s that can beat batman, but all of them that can are goofy as hell.
I need that alternate time line video asap
Imagine a video game where you could play as Batman and while going thru the plot you randomly are terrorized by fail safe who is unphased by anything you do but you could slow him down to run and hide while you do detective work pick up clues info gather a weapon etc to finally take him on as the final boss where you can finally do damage this would have you on edge of your seat and paralyzed the entire game out of fear of fail safe popping in out of nowhere!!!!
That’d be an amazing Batman horror game because failsafe would use the same stealth tactics as Batman
Thats similar concept to resident evil 2 and Metroid dread. But yeah I’d play that game
So re 2 but Batman
majima in yakuza kiwami
Sounds like mister tyrant x from resident evil.
Interesting twist at the end with how Failsafe still obeyed its programming but also the new input
But holy shit Batman surviving a fall from the moon to earth with just his cape, briefs, and shenanigans is both awesome and the dumbest thing ever
don't you love it !!
Bro this comic goes inanely hard, not only the art is top notch fire, the writing and scenes like "Batman and Robin" is completely nuts
Batman surviving re-entry from the Moon is 😅 To me that proves that he's a metahuman. He has superhuman intelligence (imo) and he fell from the moon which requires coming through multiple layers of the atmosphere...
Imagine creating a being so powerful and so hyper-fixated on eliminating you that the only way to permanently stop it is to escape into another universe where it's programming would not allow it to follow.
I felt like I just watched a move!! 😳
Damn good storyline, extremely good natation. The voices just made it sooo much better!!
This was better and more engaging than 90% of movies DC has put out.
Mirrored in Thought
Batman "Failsafe just survived 3 Quadrillion watts to the back and survived?! of course he's Failsafe"
Failsafe "Batman just survived falling from the Moon?! of course he's Batman"
What a great storyline. Thanks for sharing and acting some of it out.
Something i’ve wanted to see for a whole is the spider-man velocity comic explained, it had a very interesting and unique plot and came with a new suit for spider-man and it would be pretty cool to see that here
I wonder if batman expected superman to always be there to try and save him in his time of need evil or not. Because that would be one of the ways to explain why failsafe came with anti superman weapons.
They are friends and given superman's abilities he is basically required if Batman is up to no good
Failsafe vs Ultron is an underrated match up
failsafe gotta take that dub bro let me explain. he has intelligence of batman (ultron has tony stark's, but back when ultron existed tony wasn't batmans level) he has nearly as much strength as a kryptonian (thats crazy man) and failsafe also has an army (problem solved for the drones.)

Now this is a good story for an awesome movie - with James Gunn on the seat of DCU - a story like this is going to be a sure hit.
It doesn't contain an obscure team of quippy outcasts. I'm not sure James Gunn is capable of producing a story like that.
If failsafe is this strong, couldn't he just be the failsafe for everyone?
As a component of the Batcomputer the Failsafe would have direct access to the already existing plans and Ra’s Al Ghul’s lethal variants of them

Great story telling and great editing. Amazing voice say less I’m subbed 🙌
so everyone is wondering why batman gave fail safe kryptonite. bruce would prefer himself to be killed then to rot in a cell since theres to high of a chance of him escaping eventually. failsafe is meant to kill him full stop. however bruce is clarks best friend clark will almost always try to redeem him. fail safe is given the means to incapacitate the league to ensure bruces death. notice how every time failsafe fought someone that wasnt bruce he never went for a kill. he left everyone alive.
Love this post! Thank you
I shouldn't wonder if mcfarlane toys are ever going to make a failsafe figure, because that would be awesome af.

You know, with the new precedent of Batman Elseworlds live action films now, I feel like DC could easily turn this into one. Just do it beat-by-beat too. Make a film for people who are already familiar with everything from the comics included here, then watch as new audiences fall in love with all that stuff and start digging deeper into the comics themselves. It's an absolute win, but for some reason I feel like a room full of out-of-touch stockholders are going to think it's too risky, so... maybe a fan film?
Wooh..this story was amazing! I wish they put this into movie...
I love emphasizing the theme of contingency/redundancy in a Batman story. This is not usually the case.
I'd love to read something like that, that's got nothing to do with robots.

In fairness instant freezing in space isn't a real thing, he was relatively close to earth which means the sun would absolutely keep him from freezing, he had oxygen to breathe as well, technically speaking what he did was entirely possible... yk except the reentry thing but its batman so lets not question his antics.
i think its time to admit that batman really does have powers bruh
Failsafe attacks tons of heroes, captures all of Batman's teammates and leaves Gotham and the world in chaos without making a single toxicology report on the Penguin?
This is why you put a good lock on your Self Destruct Button.
Kind of funny the smartest guy would create a failsafe that would activate when not sure the failsafe conditions were met lol
Truthfully, with Batman being my all time favorite hero, I feel like this story should not be this long. No way Batman doesn’t realize the answer to beating Failsafe, would be completing his mission for him and eliminate the “rogue” Batman as a threat. Failsafe being created by Batman should have the knowledge to realize Batman wasn’t rogue as the entire Bat Family and Justice League were helping him. Failsafe would figure out Batman didn’t kill penguin after analyzing the scene. And If anything, Failsafe in this story was the true “Rogue Batman”. Batman without compassion isn’t Batman as it’s shown. Bruce never lost his. Even Taking back over to save his son. Bruce faked his deaf stopping his heart to do so before. Why not do it here? He caused more harm trying to stop Failsafe rather than him doing what I know Batman would’ve done halfway into this story. for a fact Bruce would know self sacrifice would be the answer. Batman’s mission is Basically self sacrifice for the betterment of humanity. No way it took giving Failsafe the compassion he already has himself to see this. Batman could’ve and would have came up with this solution himself before Superman would have to get involved. Don’t get me wrong I love the fact that we’re still getting new story’s for my guy, but at some point we gotta acknowledge that Batman’s limits are no longer being pushed accurately. My first time hearing this story was 5 minutes ago, and within 5 minutes into the vid the end result popped in my head multiple times as the answer to Failsafe. DC gotta do a lil bit more when it comes to the pushing Batman passed what we all know would be easy work for him today.
Even Lex Luthor can't even done what Batman has accomplished by making Failsave to turn against the entirety of JLA single handedly 😅
12:44 "240 million miles" that would be nearly 2.5 times the distance from the earth to the sun. Luckily its only 240 _thousand_ miles.
It would be insane to see Failsafe vs an actual Evil Batman
So that explains why Batman where’s trunks on the outside. As basically a back up “oxygen” mask.
