    Laramy-K Optical is a digital uncut and coating lab unlike any other. The only exclusively uncut lab in the country; we provide our customers with independent, high-end alternatives to corporate brands. Through craftsmanship, technology, and independent, innovative vendors like Younger, IOT, A&R, and Quantum Innovations we offer our customers the Integrity portfolio of freeform lenses and coatings. Made in the USA, the Integrity brand is not a generic house-brand, but is the absolute best available, designed to give the wearer that “wow!” experience.
    In addition to the digital line, we still offer conventional surfacing, including glass. Maintaining traditional equipment gives our customers vastly more flexibility in their dispensing, particularly when it comes to more difficult prescriptions.

    If you try to call and get the prescription yourself the other office usually wants the patient to be the one to ask for it otherwise you are given a hard time. Even patients are given a hard time by their doctor when asking for their prescription.

    These scenarios probably happen very often. I deal with clients myself, there are all kinds of customers... I always had simple vision, but now at 43 years old I'm wearing my first progressive lenses, I know that vision can change quickly in a few years. Here in Quebec, they recommend having an eye exam every 2 years. Eye exams are paid for by the governement for children under 18 and seniors over 65. Luckily for me, these costs are reimbursed by my corporate insurance. Not everyone is so lucky. But as a customer, I wonder. Why not have an eye exam again after 2 years and be sure to have glasses adjusted to our vision? I had terrible headaches before I got my new glasses. Yes, it comes at a price, but my life is so much easier now! But I know, difficult customers have always been and always will be. Customers, sometimes...

    For most people vision doesn't change much between 25-35 years old. I used to wear same glasses until they fell apart. I still got annual eye exams just to check eye health anyway. Eyes are important.

      Mass-produced -5.00 glasses not custom made for individual patient PD bought off of amazon would be trash and unusable for driving (or anything else).

    • @LaramyKOptical
      @LaramyKOptical  Před 2 lety +1

      That is simply untrue, false, wrong. An individual that needs the correction of -5D would benefit greatly from just about any pair of glasses with that power. You are stating assumptions as facts which are incorrect. John

    i love your channel. and i am really sorry, i have to disagree with this video respectfully.
    optician sees exp. rx and make lenses without suggesting to see OD. and pt later has issue with eyes and it could have been avoided if seen by OD early. who is going to be responsible in that case? i would feel guilty, because i see optician as health worker first before business personnel.

      @@neandertull6777 i agree 100%. although i would feel neglecting patient if I dont explain to patient why we need updated rx.

      I think this is why the vast majority of optician clinics/service centers have 1 or 2 optometrists on rotation and require an evaluation if making anything other than fashion glasses. Usually they provide a discount when purchasing a package (exam, frame, lens) as well which can be negotiated somewhat. From personal exp however, I can go to 3 different optical shops and get 3 refractions and they will have slightly differing degrees for cylinder value. That's a different issue.

    Hi, quick question, ...my lenses coating are peeled off and have O-ring marks and cloudy....do you guys provide re-coating services? If so, how much will it be? Thank you,...

    • @LaramyKOptical
      @LaramyKOptical  Před 2 lety +2

      We don't provide that service. It really can't be done. You can (sort of) remove the coating but you can't redcoat them again. I'm afraid it is time for new lenses.

  • @philipdarnall787
    @philipdarnall787 Před 2 lety

    The FTC is failing opticianry. All they need to do is order a pair from each regulated state with an "expired Rx" and fine Amazon, etc $100K for each pair.

    • @LaramyKOptical
      @LaramyKOptical  Před 2 lety +4

      Or they can realize that it is 2021 and that horse left the barn 20 years ago. We shouldn't have to rely on the FTC or any other regulation or legislation to protect against a free market. Legislative protectionism isn't the answer to anything. If opticians don't want people buying glasses online then they should give people a good reason not to. Like I said in video --- "...like religion and politics you will believe what you will believe." I'm sure I won't change your mind and vice-versa. Peace John
