Tragically, it wasn’t always that way. Boeing used to have an unrivaled reputation for extremely high and rigorous engineering standards. But once management became ‘PowerPoint/Excel engineers’ focused on bean counting and DEI it became not a question of ‘if’ but ‘when’ failures would occur in production aircraft.

10:14 I lived in the Seattle area for about a year during early 1995 and into 1996. Specifically I was in an apartment just across the access highway from the Boeing wide body plant in Everett. At that time the 777 was just entering full scale production. One of the things in progress was the fatigue testing of a production grade 777 airframe . I have no idea what the security situation is now, but back then anybody, including non Boeing employees (like me) could drive freely around certain roads at the plant. One such road passed right by the big blue frame that was used for the testing. On a couple of occasions I pulled over, parked and sat there for a few minutes watching this process, and it was actually entertaining and enlightening. There were cables attached all over the airframe and run through overhead pulleys as you see in the video. Some had counterweights on the other end. The cables tugged here and pulled there, then released the load, and whatever they were attached to would deflect. Others lifted the wings then let them drop. Still another tugged on the vertical stabilizer. Every once in a while some strong force was sent rippling through, causing the whole works to shudder LOUDLY and produce the sounds of cables jangling.

The big problem with the A380 is landing at Birmingham, UK with a nearly full plane and two other flights landing around the same time. The terminal was swamped, Emirates limo service were calling asking where I got to. Now whether the other two flights were late or early I don't know.

A plane before it’s time but also superseded by newer materials and construction methods. With airports being squeezed for space and slots, the A380 or a modern equivalent may have its time again. New engine designs for efficiency and noise may yet make it possible to design it as a 2 engine aircraft. The double decker approach throughout the plane gives much more space for even economy class. And we await the review by the US aviation safety people on seat size. If the case is well made for wider seats and more leg room in economy on the grounds of safety, then many of the current planes will fail.

The a380 is a fine plane to fly on, but it also creates an instant customs traffic jam.

Boeing inherited the Globemaster when it took over McDonnell Douglas, it wasn’t originally a Boeing product, much the same as the F15 and F/A 18

The interesting thing is that because of the epidemic and high fuel prices, it has become very profitable to fly the A380 again,
the doom of the A380 is not yet.. maybe in a decade it will be again

Just like the third light on a car, why don't they put a third wing above the fuselage for free additional lift and mileage. One that turbulence hardly affects.

I remember Boeing was dissing on airbus when they had massive delays with the A380, saying they would not have these issues with the B787. I think Boeing ended up having a equal delay in the end with the B787. I think any major a/c manufacturer does equal amount of testing. I think with the B737 max Boeing has pushed the B737 body passed its comfortable capacity, it’s time Boeing replaces it with a new design from scratch.
