My first board was a landy but everyone was like its all about loaded (ironic as Landy is Van based).
I do admit the bamboo is flexy and fun on loaded but i like super well carved foot pedals/concaves to be honest. I gotta deal with alot of kms with bad pavement to get to work and precision helps me avoid small falls (despite like you said, a miniscule difference of degree but in a busy city like Van.. its a life saver also trying to avoid hella ppl who have zero situational awareness).
Not to mention.. ordering Loaded to Canada.. man they rob you with shipping and i can literally hit up Landy HQ where i live
Thanks for saying so! They both do the same job and both brands use quality hardware. Both are safe picks but I do use my Landy a bit more, plus it was cheaper too.

I agree with most of what you are saying, and I have a bigger foot so I prefer less concave, the ballona is really interesting to me. My current favorite is the Moonshine spark and I want something a little shorter, thanks for the review.
Outside of longboards, I've never stepped on something so flat. And Loaded is awesome brand

For transportational utility I recommend a board under 8" width. Something like a 7.5 threads through debris and crowds, pushes easier as legs more in line, can have bigger wheels without bite, and can hang under the arm from any backpacks shoulder strap when need both hands-free off board.
When people w/o other options relied on boards for distance transport 8" and over was exclusively for vert. Size has crept up as downhill and taking other transport between spots became prevalent. All day freedom is still best served by a sub-8" board after all you will be carrying it or needing to stow it.
Any grom/kids board is a cheap option just stack on shock and/or riser pads and up the wheels to 63mm to 72mm and you have cheap take anywhere all terrain utility.
Better in hand/s for defensive utility as a club or shield. Ceramic bearings for all weather and your one and done!
I was horrified when I realised a 6" wide, 22" long penny stock can have the cheapest 72mm or 70mm wheels you can find thrown on w/o risers due to thinness and be a more convenient terrain tolerant transport than my stupidly large pile of boards. Cheaper to make your own though and as said and grom/kids board is better value, better shaped, lighter, and you can support the brand you like.
A small sidewalk crack almost broke both my wrists on a penny board I borrowed lmao. I think I might try some risers to play with bigger wheels as you say.

Great and entertaining review.. Same I was looking at the Bellona, Landyachtz, Arbor Pilsner (really nice), and few other options. But went with Santa Cruz Street Skate Street cruiser. at 8.79 wide and 29.05 long, w/ 60mm wheels, and best its the old school vibe. only thing I did was changed the bearings, and added old school rails ( which I like to help carry and slides) picked one up for half the price of all these option. just get out an ride !
So the different trucks don't make much difference in your opinion?
Durability and longevity I can not speak to, they both look solid but I only had them for a month. The major difference I noticed is from the truck spacing, ballonas are wider and dinghy is narrow, wheels closer together. The dinghy is very responsive and can take sharp turns/carves where as the ballona feels more planted and mellow. Did any of that make sense? I'm kinda typing based off feel alone.
Not to say the ballona is unresponsive. Both are super snappy considering they are short ridged boards.
