Brilliant! I know the man of who you speak.. he taught me to fly microlights 20+ years ago. He's actually a decent chap trying to scratch a living working on guitars. I've seen many of the positive responses that have been written to him - there are some very pleased customers out there. I own a few guitars myself - all of which have been improved by Mark, and I've had a couple of tinkered guitars from him as well which I like very much (a Peavey and a Cort) - but regular 6 strings, I don't have the sausage fingers. One of the key points he makes is that guitars out of the shop are dreadful - not at all setup and with a nut keeping the strings a mile off the fretboard making chording really hard, (especially barres) for beginners. In Boston last year I went to one of their enormous guitar shops and played with many of the guitars. The expensive Fenders - all rubbish setup. The only guitar that was well set up was a Schechter (and Mark had told me that that was the case - he was right). This is where the criminality is to my mind - all these big shops selling guitars to beginners that are rubbish to play and more likely to put them off a guitar career. People are buying his guitars and the customers are satisfied (some have returned to buy more) - surely that's the most important thing? But an excellent video- I shall circulate to all of our friends. Well done :o)))
I have to say Mark is a god among men, how dare you all criticise his clearly top notch luthier skills, have you ever seen an SG with a artek single coil in the neck position before?? Nope thought not, that's not just a conversation that's a vision of true musical majesty. In 25 years time we will be paying £5000 plus for one of his spiritual creations, and he will be regarded as a true visionary in the guitar world... Mark (d phillips) my words. Obviously I'm joking he is clearly a simpleton :-)
