  • Got some PC parts for a steal of a deal. When I went to check them out I found evidence of roaches! Watch how I cleaned these parts and find out if they still work!

    I like getting dirty computers. sometimes you can get it for a little less. There is one time i bought a pc case. guy threw in motherboard and ram stick and wifi card. got it home. there was all that weird gunk on it... turned out to be roach "stuff". cleaned it.. motherboard didnt work, but rest did. luckily i was going to paint the case. started to take it all apart, drilling out rivets... there was dead roaches all in it. so.. had to clean all that out and then paint it. now it looking good!

      been their with dead roach filled pc's myself, but i agree. i look for the old and grimmey gross pc's as you get better deals and people tend to judge a book by its cover. had one I got at a yard sale, covered in dirty, dust, food, juice you name it it had it. got it home opened it up turned out to be a ryzen 5 2600 system with a gtx 1060. the case was crap and had no window so it was a gamble. Paid $50 and lucked out!

    Man it sucks someone moved in about a month or two ago and brought them into our complex. And now my computer *and just discovered my interface for my music* are heavily infested.
    I've had issues with my computer glitching out and not displaying and stuff.
    I hate neighbors

    I grew up out in the country, house was surrounded by pine trees which is a breeding ground for roaches. It's sooooo hard to get rid of them, but for me there's two smells in my top ten list that i absolutely can't stand, the first and second being battery corrosion on my hands and roach s*&t....especially if it's heated up by electrical components. I will dead ass turn around and walk right back out of someone's house if i smell it.

    I would just do the same thing you did, but I would have checked the inside of the case outside the house. If it was going to be worth it, it was going to be worth it, but if it didn't, it didn't. You got your $20.00 back and some free ram that works.

    im not familiar with this problem, do we even get roaches in the uk? but surely you could only get this having the pc close to the outdoors like in the downstairs kitchen or conservatory or is it litteraly in any room of the house?

    • @DLMtechgarage
      @DLMtechgarage  Před 22 dny

      You get them from dirty living conditions and then they drop their egg sacks which can birth like 100 of them and they can multiple very quickly

      @@PapaMav I have had older ram sticks die but never persued the warranty. Newer on one with warranty I have RMA to the manufacture with no issues but never really excersice the older lifetime warrant ones. Mostly because the customers want the computer now and cant afford to wait. I keep a stock of older ram and sell it if they have a bad stick and typically toss the bad stuff out.

    I'd use dish soap and water for first pass clean. Followed by 91% alcohol to remove water and set in sun out watch and movie then test it but yeah never bring anyone electronics into house with opening it especially game consoles like playstation 3's and 4's. They are by far the worst roach motels out there and cleaning them thoroughly is essential and may fix many systems just by removing dust hair and bugs. Always replace the thermal solution such as paste and defective pads so fixed 2 ps3 and 1 ps4 by just cleaning it.
