  • This video is about the best travel credit card for 2024 and an amazing credit card point hack that saves us thousands of dollars per year. We believe the Chase Sapphire Reserve is the best card for frequent travelers, especially when combined with World of Hyatt, for several reasons:
    1. Generous rewards program: The Chase Sapphire Reserve offers lucrative rewards on travel and dining. Cardholders earn 3 points per dollar spent on travel and dining worldwide and 1 point per dollar on all other purchases. Points can be redeemed for travel, gift cards, cash back, or transferred to airline and hotel loyalty programs at a 1:1 ratio.
    2. Valuable sign-up bonus: Chase often provides a substantial sign-up bonus for new cardholders. This bonus is currently 60,000 points, which can be worth hundreds or even thousands of dollars when redeemed for travel.
    3. Travel benefits: The card comes with a range of travel benefits that enhance the overall travel experience. These include a $300 annual travel credit, which can be used to offset any travel-related expenses, such as flights, hotels, rental cars, and more. Additionally, cardholders have access to airport lounges through the Priority Pass Select program, which provides a comfortable and relaxing environment during layovers. Other perks include trip cancellation/interruption insurance, travel and emergency assistance, and primary rental car insurance.
    4. Flexible redemption options: The Chase Ultimate Rewards program allows cardholders to redeem points in various ways. You can book travel directly through the Chase Ultimate Rewards portal, transfer points to partner airline and hotel loyalty programs, or redeem them for cash back or gift cards.
    5. Travel insurance coverage: The Chase Sapphire Reserve provides comprehensive travel insurance coverage, including trip cancellation/interruption insurance, baggage delay insurance, trip delay reimbursement, and emergency medical/dental coverage. These benefits can provide peace of mind during your travels.
    6. No foreign transaction fees: The card does not charge any foreign transaction fees, making it an excellent choice for international travelers. You can use it abroad without incurring additional charges.
▶️ We started our channel to inspire and share our world travel lifestyle, adventures, and optimistic outlook on life with others. After completing a two-year journey in our Airstream to see all 50 states and 51 National Parks, we left to travel abroad. We have downsized our possessions and sold our home so that we can wander about with only the things in our backpacks.
We love living on the road, traveling each week to a new location. We plan to travel extensively to every part of the world. Ours is not a slow travel lifestyle but rather a vagabondish one. The goal is not to check a country off a list, but to experience it by meeting new people, seeing how others live, and making new friends. We believe in laughing, loving, and living our lives to the fullest.
We are working hard to build a beautiful website where you can get travel information about the places we have been. In addition, we post blog articles to help you travel better. Our channel is a way of augmenting that effort, so sometimes we post videos about how to travel or a vlog showing our lives on the road as we do an activity or an adventure. We also post Shorts, so check those out, too. We hope to entertain you, but most importantly, we want to inspire you and give you the confidence to plan your own adventure around the world.

Perfect timing on this video about travel cards! We are ready to embark on some serious retirement traveling, so I was just researching the Chase Reserve and the Amex Platinum $695 (+ $175 for additional card!), but there are some extra perks with the Amex (such as a $240 digital credit for our SiriusFM) that might make it worth the extra $ to us. One of the most important perks for any card, though, is access to lounges. That lounge access had been greatly restricted in recent years since lounges had become so overcrowded. Whichever card we choose, we'lll definitely set it up for automatic payment in full each month. And, I definitely agree that simplicity is important. No juggling cards for me. Thanks for the tips!

I've had my Chase Reserve card since 2015 and love it! I got in when they had 100K point bonus for new sign-up so the value was even better. During Covid when I didn't travel, I used the $300 travel credit to top off my transit pass in my hometown. And when a pebble flew up and cracked the windshield of my rental car, I submitted a claim to Chase and they reimbursed the $75 bill within days. As I plan to travel more in 2024, I requested a credit limit increase and they doubled it. I use it for everyday purchases and pay in full every month.

Pretty much agree with your view for the Chase card. I got one as well. Aside from the Hyatt, I like to use the points to exchange for flights and hotel rooms. Chase travel will almost have cheaper rooms than published rate. I also got an American Express card, it gave me access to centurion lounges (limit to some airports only), but the points are worthless. So Chase is my primary travel card. I am glad that you enjoy Taiwan, there are many more places there for you to visit. Be safe and have fun.

I’ve been on the fence with the Sapphire Reserve card for awhile. Fairly recently, Chase had an 85,000 point bonus reward for new signers. I happened to be in my local Chase Bank and the banker I was working with mentioned that if you sign up at Chase Bank they add in another 5,000 points, bringing the total reward up to 90,000. I’m keeping an eye out for the next big reward special offer to sign up.

Great video Bev and John! Based on your use of the card for all you do, what would you say is the range of points one could accumulate in a year? I know it depends on spending and price point, but anecdotally, is there a range you would suggest based on what one incurs while traveling full time abroad? Thank you! Craig M

    • @RetirementTravelers
      @RetirementTravelers  Před 11 měsíci +2

First, we think card is worth it just spending the $4000 and getting the 60,000 point bonus. For example if you traveled full time and spent $3000/month on travel, that would be $36,000 x 3 or 108,000 points.

First, thanks for the kind words about our channel. You can go on your World of Hyatt account and search for hotels at a location. Make sure you have the box checked for "use points". Select the dates, location and hotel and it will show you the number of points required. We usually transfer a bigger portion over from Chase so that they are already there when we book a hotel.

Then I learned that Chase is the biggest funder of oil and gas projects in the US, ergo the world. hose Big TOil pipeline and drilling projects? Mostly funded by Chase. There's a national movement to divest from the banks that fund Big Oil--and I signed on to that. I'm not gonna lie, it wasn't easy to cut up my cards and find "clean" cards with good rewards, but to me, one more step toward aligning my values with my actions was worth it. I've just entered my 70s, and I've done a lot of the things you have. We recently got the Capital One Venture X travel card. It has an annual fee of $395 and seems to offer similar perks. I'll have to compare it more closely to the Chase Saphire Reserve to see what the differences are.

Both are amazing cards. We just really like the additional perk of transferring points to Hyatt because we have found the best hotel bargains there. We spend about 300 nights a year finding lodging as full time travelers.

@@RetirementTravelers We really like Hyatt too. From the brief reading, I did this afternoon, it sounds like the Chase Saphire Reserve is better in a few ways. As you said, the Hyatt perk is big. It also seems to be quite a bit more flexible in how you purchase airline tickets, which seems a bit restrictive with Venture X.
We don't live "on the go", like you, but if we did I'd probably switch to the Saphire Reserve.

Appreciate your thoughts but believe the Capital One Venture X is the better card. 2 points per dollar on everyday purchases and 10x hotels/5x flights. Priority Pass, primary car rental insurance. $300 annual credit. The benefits are virtually identical to Chase but twice as many points on everyday purchases makes it a better deal than Chase.
