About Khem:
Khem can be called as a twist on notes of raga Yaman. Same notes taken in a specific fashion with stress on rishabh and dhaivat create this beautiful melody. The bandish Balamwa tum bin is a composition of Ustad Alladiya khan sahab. Some sing it in ikwai where as Kishori tai has chosen vilambit addha for this composition. The drut bandish Mora manhar na aayo is Kishori tai's own composition set to drut addha teental. In my personal opinion this raga gave a huge canvas to kishori tai and she created an amalgamation of different subtle emotions of longing for the beloved like no one else! The sheer emotive aspect of her khem renditions has always been mesmerising, making the listeners forget their earthly problems and taking them to a state of bliss.
