Shasta Daisies: Cutting Back and Propagating The Cuttings

  • After your daisy blooms fade, cut them back about halfway and they will rebloom. This is an excellent way to make more plants, too. It is best to take fresh, non diseased and well watered cuttings for best results. You can put cuttings in a potting mix or directly in the garden in you have loose soil. It only takes a few weeks for new leaves to form. Place pot in the shade and don't allow to dry out too much. In late fall you can transplant into your garden.

Like the tip on homemade rooting hormone. When propagating a few plants, I’ve used straight honey…roots galore!

Hey Momma! I have some shasta daisies and wondered if I could propagate them. Then after a brief search I found this video. This is great news! Thanks for showing how it's done. May I ask what size pot you are using and how far apart did you place your cuttings? Just wondering how tall they will get in a 14" planter? Thanks so much and keep on making videos. Your instructions are clear and the video shows exactly what you are doing. Very professional and completely helpful.

Because they will not let the hose running like that, water is precious!
