She can't kill the Demon King because she can't comprehend a peaceful era. So she'll lose, since she doesn't want the fight to end.
Meanwhile, Frieren doesn't care about combat. To her, it's just a means to an end. She can beat the Demon King because defeating the Demon King is just part of the goal; the final destination is the peaceful era.
Serie is powerful but she's horribly disadvantaged against the Demon King because of her outlook.
