This would have been way better than the awkward Forever version, but still I can see why this didn't make it past the drawing boards. Maybe if they toned down Robin's actual involvement and focused more on him grieving his parents death which literally just happened.

Maybe Batman talks with Dick Grayson a little later and spills the beans on his own vendetta against the Joker. He might also give him this advice: “Don’t let vengeance be your primary goal, otherwise you’ll become no better than him. I do have a genuine score to settle with him. But I promise I’ll bash him a couple times for you. I’m also going to make sure he can’t escape justice. I’ll be in touch. But now, it ends.”

does anyone else feel like this scene actually would have made the movie a lot better? I think batman making the joker and in turn the joker causing the tragedy that created robin is a great plot device highlighting the consequences of his obsession. instead they rewrote it so batman blows up a chemical plant, killing dozens of henchmen (how very un-batman, by the way), and joker invites him via a very awkwardly executed tv broadcast sequence. this scene would have emphasized greatly how twisted the joker was, and introduced a compelling robin without being campy or awkward. batman forever ring a bell?

No, it would have made the 1989 movie too crowded to squeeze Robin's origin in the end of the movie and too coincidental for Joker to have happened to have killed both Batman and Robin's parents and Neal Adams hadn't created the awesome new Robin costume yet until 1991 (1989 was the anniversary of the 1939 original solo Batman and how very 1939 Batman-like to kill, by the way). In Cinefantastique [November 1989] Tim Burton explained, "We could never get Robin in before the last third of the movie. By that time we just wanted to get on with the story rather than introduce somebody else new in tights simply because the comic lore dictated it." www.1989batman.com/2013/08/vintage-magazine-article.html
In Rolling Stone magazine [June 1989] Tim Burton explained, "Ultimately it was too much psychology to throw into one movie. If there’s another movie, Robin would have to be established at the beginning, not be crammed into the third act." www.rollingstone.com/movies/movie-news/michael-keatons-batman-54349/
If Warners would have let Tim Burton make more Batman movies after Batman Returns then the Richard Grayson Robin could have been introduced properly, and Tim Burton had changed his mind about the Marlon Wayans idea that was considered just for Batman Returns. Tim Burton explained, "In fact, we weren't even sure that the Kid would definitely be Robin. No matter what we did, though, he screwed up Batman's loner psychology, which is the deeper aspect of the character. Although I didn't think about it at the time I hired Marlon [Wayans], I realized after he was cut that a lot of people would have made a fuss about Batman having a black sidekick." www.1989batman.com/2014/10/vintage-magazine-article-prevue-august.html Tim Burton explained, "At some point there was the discussion of Robin and again the only way I could see it was to try to find a profile that worked... There was always the idea that maybe in the 3rd or 4th...I mean at this point we saw it as a potentially ongoing thing maybe and therefore there was always that thinking 'if we don't do it in this one we'll do it in the next one' kind of a deal." czcams.com/video/AzGj48kKmcY/video.html

Marlon Wayons was considered as Dick Grayson in Batman Returns. But because it was too many characters involved in the story, Tim decided to delete Robin. I think, in my opinion, that Tim Burton would've made a huge difference if he carried on for the third film and have Marlon Wayans as Robin. So far, six Robins such as Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, Stephanie Brown, Damon Wayne and Carrie Kelly were all white. Not a single one is black, Hispanic or Asian. Marlon would've done an excellent job

This is way awesome, and Conroy and Hamill are excellentt. But I am glad it wasn't included. The Joker telling Batman who he really is at this point spoils that moment near the ending. The movie already shares two origin stories Batman's and The Joker's. A duality of tragedies. Jack made Bruce into Batman, Batman made Jack into The Joker. A third origin story would have been too much. The 1989 Batman movie is just right the way it is.

To be honest, I'm kinda glad this was taken out. The reason being that it's just too much for this story that's already bloated. Remember, this scene would've taken place after Joker showed up at Vicki's apartment, way into the movie, and near the third act. You don't just introduce a character that is late into your movie and expect to give any development. It could've been exactly like how Green Goblin was added in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 where they overstuffed it, and he has no time to breathe as a fully developed character. I can see why they took him, rightfully so. The studio was the one forcing Robin, and both Tim Burton and Sam Hamm agreed Robin would have no space, and wanted to just focus primarily on Batman and Joker's relationship. Keep it simple. That's screenwriting 101 for ya. I also feel that for how stiff the batsuit was, seeing Keaton's Batman on a horse would've looked awkward.

The actor was a young Kid Named RICKY ADDISON REED. He was in "Return to Salem's Lot. since they cut the scene he was out. Then in Batman Returns, Marlon Wayons was cast as a character that was "The Kid" in some drafts. A mechanic who wore an "R" on his jumpsuit and he fixed the bat mobile. In another Draft he was running with the triangle circus gang only to find out that the Penguin was responsible for his parents deaths. I'm glad that this didn't happen. However I would LOVE to see what Marlon Wayon's suit was going to look like had they actually built it. I know there is a design out there but it's a drawing. Would love to see a sculpt!

The original idea was to have Joe Chill as the killer, and the mob boss Grissom was actually supposed to be Rupert Thorne. I mean, why invent new characters for a movie that's supposed to be based on the comics? In my opinion, Grissom should have been Thorne and Mayor Joe Borg should have been Mayor Hamilton Hill.
