- No one can compare to the prince who wears a medallion on his chest, sounds so quaint, can’t he have a chip implanted in his chest so, how futuristic was this show ?
Anyway, one of the earliest Japanese anime tv series (Planet Boy Papi (遊星少年パピイ Yūsei Shōnen Papī)
Yes lots of childhood memories with that theme and the crazy xylophone takes centre stage and the school choir vocals, it’s a unique sound and would never happen now, that kind of daggy innocence is just not in anymore, we’re way too sophisticated these days, cold and calculated, so I think the kind of humanity this show represented has been lost, we used to have a high imagination in a low tech setting, now it’s high tech with not much imagination, oh well.
Prince Planet was a member of the non-violent Universal Peace Corps who left his home planet of Radion to travel to Earth.
He crash-landed in the Southwest of America and was rescued by young Diana Worthy, whose family had made a fortune in the oil business. Here he adopted the Earthly name of Bobby and moved to New Metropolis in order to fight the minions of injustice.
His mission was to bring our planet into the Galactic Union of Worlds, but first, he had to rid the world of all war-lovers and violent evil-doers, which he accomplished with the use of his power-giving pendant, which frequently ran out of energy thus placing him in enough danger to keep the excitement levels up from episode to episode.
Prince Planet was a unique hero due to the fact that he refused to use violence to defeat his foes. Instead, the young champion used speed and strategy to make his enemies beat themselves. Sometimes he enlisted the aid of his friends, magician Haja Baba and wrestler Dan Dynamo.
Audio is good, video so so.

Back in the early 70's we used to run home from school to watch this show
Me too, cannot believe it now - and his voice was a females voice - not that I noticed as a kid. We must have all been brain damaged.
We used to watch at school in the auditorium after lunch.
Loved the theme song too!!
I was that kid! 😁
@@eklektikTechno Me Too. In the Early '70's, Baby, every *Soul* *Brother* wore a *Medallion.*
Wow, the best Prince Planet intro audio I have heard. A TV show I loved from day one.
I'm 63 now, and I loved this show when I was a kid. Best audio version of the intro I've ever heard. Great job!
Prince Planet
No one can compare, to the prince who wears, a medallion on his chest
Using all his might, changing wrong to right, Prince Planet, he's the best
Now it's no surprise, that he fights bad guys, and he makes the bad guys pay
Whether day or night, like a flash of light, Prince Planet's on his way
Here comes Prince Planet
Prince Planet
Oh the things he'll do, will astonish you, Prince Planet, he's the best
Race a meteor, with a dinosaur, save a damsel in distress
Right before your eyes, from out of the skies, comes the hero of the day
Out of the outer space, now to take his place, Prince Planet's on his way
Here comes Prince Planet
Prince Planet
Im 55 years old
This is still my favorite cartoon
1960's. Mornings before primary school. Loved this show.
My favorite cartoon ever!!!❤
Every morning before state school in the 60's......loved it.
Prince Planet was ahead of his time. You see he has a fin on his helmet like a lot of modern cars.
Gotta think of the pedestrians!
Favorite cartoon in the early 1960s as a preschooler along with Flintstones.
Then in late 1960s it was Marine Boy, Herculoids and Johnny Quest.
Japanese two out of five
omg this brings back so many memories ..ty for the trip down memory lane
I noticed a lot of replies from people who grew up in the northeast. We watched Prince Planet in the 60s in Philly. Good times!
Awesome, brings back memories of my youth for sure. I loved this cartoon.
Oh dear...
I'm 63 and had forgotten.
This just took me back to 1966, 67 as a small 6 or 7 year old.
I remember the cartoon well.
Wow! my brother and I love this cartoon, lol telling my age
Thank You. 💞💞💞💞 Loved Prince Planet! I would watch this show every afternoon as a small child in the late 60's early 1970's! I had P-Medallion off our cupboard door that I would wear and PPPPPP my older brothers and sister with 🤣🤣
A must watch show each day after primary school in Australia. I still remember the theme song quite clearly.
I loved 🥰 this show in the 1979s
I was about 12 living in the projects Robert Taylor's Chicago. love it me and my brother and so many of us
I too remember this cartoon, and like you and you brother, I loved it so

Im 57...this was the shit when I was a kid!!
I have bootleg copies of almost all of the episodes of this cartoon.
There were 52 episodes.
I need that
All I had to watch this on was a black and white TV, but my mind saw the colors.
My bro and i used to tie our yoyos around our necks and play prince planet.
First time I've heard the bass line. Thanks.
That is definitely a flash back to when I was a kid!
I miss the cracking lightning effect, but seems like not reproduced here. Still, a great memory of a classic cartoon
Its bassline is very I Saw Her Standing There, which itself is very I'm Talking About You.
I remember his arch enemy was Krag of Kragmar or something like that.
I remember this the from Neo Tokyo Silent Mobius trailer from Streamline Pictures VHS.
despite my love of 60s anime i had never seen this show until very recenty. it's quickly become one of my absolute favorites, the characters are just so well written cartoony and the animation and messages are pretty great. easily beats out most other anime released much later. shame most people brush it off as some corny kid's cartoon when it's really much more than that
60s still had humanity at the core of media entertainment with substance even if it was low tech, imagination was high, the reverse broadly applies today, glossy high tech & marketing but no feeling of something driving it other than potential revenue. Produce quality & the money will flow regardless but that's old world thinking imo
@@freeazfridae that is so true i feel both the original japanese creators and the dubbers really cared making prince planet and its sister show (i assume?) gigantor they really wanted to put out a great story enjoyable for all audiences
This is true
Barry, I've always loved this show thank you. Where did you get this amazingly clear version of the title theme?
Ummm an Australian CD release from the early 90s with various cartoon themes, this was 90 secs but cut it to 60 secs to run with the visuals.
The copy was out of phase, so I took the clear channel and added equalization to pump the sound up a bit.
@@freeazfridae great job
Prince Planet VS. Astroboy , who wins?
Hi Barry, lovin' Prince Planet. Took me right back. Thanks for putting it up. BTW, did you get my recent message about jingle swaps?
I loved this show, I made a replica of his medallion and pretended I was him, on the other hand, I hated Astroboy
ha ha so cute but there's room for Astroboy ... I guess he was a bit too philosophical and a deep thinker huh
Have these cartoons been released to CZcams or anything? I use to watch this cartoon when I was a child, I'm now 60yrs old and seeing this little snippet brought back nice memories.
Hi, look there's nothing so far on U Tube like episodes, DVD releases are available but sourcing and quality varies and the price for a boxed set goes up to $300au dollars, you won't be seeing it here I'm afraid.
@@freeazfridae oooh! $300 aud that is steep, what a shame though, it just seemed to stop being played on tv suddenly probably because it was black and white and the early 70s colour came to Australia so it was probably deemed old fashioned, then astro boy came out in colour. It was a very nice little cartoon I don't think there was a lot of episodes that came to Australia, thank you for a reply. Cheers!
Prince Planet episodes used to be on CZcams 2006-2010 , until the CZcams Police deleted them because of copyright violations. You and I are the same age and I used to watch Prince Planet on TV , circa 1966-1969 in Los Angeles , Ca.
@@shawnmalone9711 that's a bummer that they were deleted, it was a good little cartoon, thanks for letting me know. Cheers!
@@howlingwind1937 Good day, Mate! 👍
I don't want a pc reboot. But one made with modern sensibilities could be a great modern show.
i would like to know if you might have any of the Prince Planet Cartoon episodes and should you do then could you please Post them here on youtube,
Hi, no this is all I have, by chance, there are various DVD versions available from $25 up to $240 ... if you're going to buy, pick and choose carefully from a reputable source, good luck !
u can currently find it on RETRO t.v. or ThroBak t.v.
i'll find out & edit this.
Unfortunately, a reboot of Prince Planet or Marine Boy or any other male oriented cartoon of that era would invite outcry from today's SJW's and virtue signalling nitwits.
We would have to have a Princess Planet, Marine Girl, Jimmy Sparks would be Jane Sparks, Kimba would be a lioness and just Kim
and Astroboy would also have his gender changed.
All the male characters in the reboots would be useless dumb whining buffoons while all the females would be super strong and in control.
You're certainly right that the world that brought about these wonderful cartoons has long gone.
But, one of the positives of today's tech is that we can relive past times through the efforts of people like yourself who upload
these magnificent memories. Solid pat on the back to you.
Why isn't prince planet known much more I loved the pendant
In Australia in the 60s Miss Marilyn super flying fun show
Me too 😃
