- How crazy is it to have a Stevie Ray Vaughn cover and the musicians be so good that you feature the BASSIST on the thumbnail as opposed to the Guitarist? Hal-ca is utterly astonishing on this track, but what Miyu does is just..... HAL-CA, MIYU, MIO are absolutely insanely talented!!!

A stellar example of music crossing language barriers.
Hope they can get back to the USA sometime soon.
I would love to see them perform live again.
As much as I love Stevie Ray Vaughan, I enjoy watching Haruka more. SRV always plays it so cool, and his massive hands make it seems so effortless. But Haruka gives her all, with a beaming smile on her face and fingers flying all over the place. It's contagious. And she really makes the song her own as well, like she does with all their covers. It's not just a talented kid copying a master note for note, it's one great artist showing their appreciation of another. I actually have the audio of that exact youtube video ripped and saved, so that I can listen to it when I'm out and about, as they don't have Scuttle Buttin' on any of their albums.
That is the face of a man who KNOWS he's witnessing history. These kids are absolutely amazing - world class in every regard.
It's unthinkable what Hal-CA is doing. Extra class game. The highest level.
Hal-Ca is a killer. Ruthless and merciless. Killer of all guitarists in the world.
Did someone get a little bit teary eyed about this absolutely amazing band? Happens to me, too 😉
Hal-Ca, born Nov. 23, 2002, was 16 back then.
They also have so many brilliant own compositions that are worth listening, too 👍🏻
What people tend to forget is that bassist Miyu is also born in 2002 (March 12th), he just turned 20 in March, and drummer Mio is only a couple of years older as he is born on Nov 14th 1999. All 3 of them are still very young and are very talented.
I understand why Hal-Ca gets so much focus, she is an amazing guitarist. She is also an amazing performer that tends to pull all focus to her while she plays, but the rest of the band deserves just as much praise as she does imo as they are all very young for the technical skill they have. I absolutely love Miyu's bass playing.
Asterism is certainly among my favourites from the Japanese bands that I have discovered since last year (thank you Band-Maid). I hope that more people find this awesome band.
I've seen this a few times and am always blown away by all three of them. I've seen people say, "If they only had a singer," but I like them as is.
I was privileged enough to see SRV twice, the last time shortly before he died. In the endless guitar-hero debates he's always been in my top 5, though as you implied, a lot of rock fans don't know about him. He combined shred with gorgeous tone and phrasing. He used heavy-gauge strings which gave him a unique, fat tone which no other shredders could match. Haruka plays lighter strings, which is to be expected--she's got tiny hands. For her to be able to pull this off is crazy. She is like SRV and Jimi in one reincarnation. All three of them are nuts.
I wish I could have seen SRV... I'm a bit jealous, but happy for you👍
@@RyanMear I'm jealous that you can play as well as you do. I have to settle for watching other people do it! Funny thing is, I had never heard of him until pretty late in the game, but I was hooked from literally the first bar I ever heard him play.
HAL-CA's Pacifica needed some alone time and a cigarette after that 😀
Tears of joy…indeed.
Glad the drummer Mio was highlight ed to just how good all 3 band members are! Bandmaid and Asterism!❤🤘❤🤘
My fav two Bands.
I've seen SRV several times over the years and absolutely loved him. You are right on about Asterism and their respect for a master guitarist. Speaking of respect, I can hardly keep up with all of these amazing Japanese bands. Band Maid is first in my heart always, but thank you Ryan for introducing me to so much great music. Glim Spanky takes me back to my youth in a most trippy way. Japan rocks!!!!
What could be better than a talented band play a cover of one of the best guitarist to ever played the guitar. Love SRV, one of my favorite guitarist of all time. I just ordered 3 CDs of Asterism yesterday. However, it's backordered so have to wait a few weeks. But, can't wait!
So glad you've seen this, I love SRV too. The first half she was pretty faithful to the original, the second she put her spin on it, at 16 years old. I was still struggling with barre chords at that age.
Yep, pretty straight until the bass solo. Then, off to the races!
They are so good you’d think they have a cheat code. But nope, just hard work and dedication!
I've listened to this group in the past, but wow - each one of them can SHRED! If there is one thing for certain, if I get a chance to go to Japan anytime soon, I'm going to have a hard time picking who to see play live there (since most will never tour here in the US) - Band-Maid, Nemophila, Maximum the Hormone, Asterism, Passcode, Polkadot Stingray, Rottengraffty, would only be the start of a good week. So many bands there are at such a high level.
For sure!
@@RyanMear Ryan, I will soon send you an updated Japan Bands Core List!LOL
The tear of joy. Man great reaction. They are so talented.
This is where the term "watering good" comes from. At 16 Stevie was learning guitar in his room, practicing every day to learn how to play like Hendrix by listening to his songs over and over on his vinyl records.
That's cool, but how does that explain "watering good"?
@@RyanMear explanation is my typing skills, it should have been "eye watering good"
Ah! That makes sense!
@@RyanMear Yeah, sometimes I have the correct wording in my head, but it fails make it to my fingers, then my eyes says it's what my brain wants to see. Before I originally posted that, it looked exactly correct, I think it's old age setting in.
No problem, that's why I always ask for clarification if I don't understand👍
Thats why Band Maid/Asterism blow my mind everytime.
That's it right there brother - that's the mix. Kanami slots in with Jimi/Eddie, I think, with her exquisite phrasing and compositions while Haruka is channeling Yngwie, Satriani, and Stevie in her own inimitable way.
Ryan, greetings on a grey morning promising rain for the day!
Still 6'30 in the morning, what a way to wake up!
Actually Stevie Ray Vaughan is BIG in japan which he had toured before his untimely death.
Asterism are just doing him an immense homage! And to think that was 3 years ago! Hal Cal and her companions have since changed their hairstyles but are still improving.
They have already toured the US. The next time hey do that, like Band Maid they will have to increase the venues!
Only another long journey started!
Thank you so much for reminiscing about one the greatest blues guitarists of all times!
Best regards,
Robert-Gilles
I didn't realise he was that popular in Japan
@@RyanMear Real BIG!😁
The Japanese are very knowlegeable!😁
FANTASTIC TRIO
They have been my favourite rockband besides Band-Maid and Lovebites since 2018.
Put ANY male rock/metal guitarist against Haruka, Midori, Miako, Kanami.
Midori ran into SYU at ESP's workshop, now that would be a collab for the history books. She was a little star struck.
As a side note, Nemophila and Gacharic Spin played the same festival on April 29. Both bands put out pics of them all together. What a show _that_ would be!
That guitarist in Gyze is worth looking on to. And of course Hizaki and Teru from Versailles/Jupiter as well!
Oh wow that's good stuff!
Every time this video popup I said the same thing, and I'll said again here, they playing blues in steroid, and I really really love it.
Wow... I've not heard this cover from them! And I checked the original, Line in Montreux 1985. The original is mind-blowing, but ASTERISM has turned it into something else. A very creative cover, not just a copy of the original.
Respect and showmanship, the mark of a fantastic group of musicians!
And I can't believe I introduced something to you!
@@RyanMear I have to be more attentive to what you post, and I'm sure you'll introduce me to even more amazing stuff :-)
It's funny that I have never considered Stevie Ray Vaughn a particularly technical player. I've heard a CD by him some 20 years ago, but that was it. My boss, though, has liked him much more, he has borrowed that disk and was often seen in his office meditating on these sounds 😉 As for me, at the time I was entirely immersed in King Crimson, Van der Graaf Generator, and Black Sabbath. My mind was travelling through different regions, you see.
So, you also sort of introduced me now to Stevie Ray Vaughn 😂 Re-introduced, in fact. Thanks a lot!
Vlad check out the Austin City Limits shows. The only way to describe both is LEGENDARY. I prefer the last one. He had gotten clean and that version of Voodoo Child is absolutely untouchable.
Enjoy. His precision is definitely under appreciated
Oh that sounds very cool 😎
Damn they are good...
The Best Trio out .
Outstanding
Imagine if the US put money into the arts...
Treasure😘
This girl is insane ever XD
On their new song Metal Hal Ca started singing perfect
Well they just shot straight to the top of my "Bands To See" list...
Right!
Thanks for watching my youtube channel✨
Thanks for sharing!
If the ladies must need some back-up, they can get it from Lisa-X, Hazuki, Saki, Sakura.
Great cover! SRV would be proud of them all.

Please add Asterism to the GAIJIN GUYS channel agenda. 😊
This is really good, but I’ve never heard anyone cover Stevie perfectly.
Even the best come only so close.
When if they hit every note, it won't be perfectly done
@@RyanMear
Exactly.
No one gets all of the bends right, and he bends everything.
That’s the thing with David Gilmour too.
Jimi... yep...100%
Nice reaction! Please check out《stars》&《church》studio live!🤘🏻🎸🔥
Japanese musicians, what else can i say... they truly understand and respect the music, that's why they're so freakin awesome in every genre and style: pop, rock, metal, blues, jazz, funk, dance... you name it
Another absolutely phenomenal perfomance by Asterism. Hal-ca, Miyu and Mio are scaringly good
jesus... Band-Maid, Sokoninaru, Glim Spanky, now Asterism. All BLB's (Bucket List Bands). Anybody wanna help hold the gates open for the "Asian Invasion"? Wait, they're already kicking them down and setting the splintered shards on FIRE! 🔥🕊
You said it man!
Brilliant!
The argument of who was better SRV or Jimi is a waste of time. The ultimate show would have been them playing together. I think both would have taken away new and different ways to play from each other.
Wow! Lol
Great reaction!!
There is one suggestion that will surprise you.
This is TOKYO GROOVE JYOSHI "What Is Hip?".
That's a REALLY solid suggestion - although my personal favorite from TGJ is "Funk No 1". Just so ridiculously tight! czcams.com/video/3K8dNctci1Y/video.html
How many fuckin' strings does that bass guitar have?? 7?? 😳
7!
@@RyanMear 7
Yeah..... that's uh, what I said!
@@RyanMear I hope Misa doesn't start playing one of these... her bass lines will become even more insane. 😆
@kit Weng Misa-dono's pretty damn good, kit.
