  • Not all Army operations take place on land. Sometimes, repair, construction and patrolling take place beneath the surface. An Engineer Diver in the Army performs such tasks as reconnaissance, demolition, and salvage, all while being underwater.
As an Army Diver, you'll specialize either as a scuba diver, who works just below the surface of the water, or as a deep sea diver, who usually works for long periods of time in depths up to 190 feet. Some of your duties as a Diver may include:
-Inspect and clean watercraft propellers and hulls
-Patch damaged watercraft hulls using underwater welding equipment
    -Salvage sunken equipment
-Patrol the waters below watercraft at anchor
-Assist with underwater construction of piers and harbor facilities
-Survey rivers, beaches, and harbors for underwater obstacles
-Use explosives to clear underwater obstacles

Look,.. do you really need to have such a high attrition rate,.. just to train qualified divers? I read an article where this course is graduating one or two students at a time? That’s ridiculous. I was a Navy trained Scuba diver and Marine Corps Combatant diver and training standards are put into place for a reason: to produce highly qualified divers to carry out the mission. In my opinion, many of today’s military qualification courses have this “ So you want to join our club mentality “? As the technological and capabilities gap closes ever more between “ regular “ troops and the “ special “ guys, you see these various entry level qualification trials becoming increasingly more strenuous,.. unnecessarily. You don’t need to be a Commando to do diving engineer, salvage, or just looking for stuff under water, just being properly trained, efficient and proficient is more than enough.

You might be surprised, it's a little more than just looking for stuff under water. Also, given the medical aspect of it, you'll support other dive capable units, and aviation. Which, as a Marine Diver, you'd have done joint training with Army Diver's, so you'd already know this...

I have a farm in Mississippi and my families aging, can you tell me if they get stationed at camp Shelby or in Gulfport at the navy base? Please Please help me if you know, I cant go all the way from florida do Mississippi everyday, they got sick during my enrollment, and I didn't mind going wherever, before they got sick.

After basic, you will attend Phase I for a few weeks in Ft. Leonardwood. If you pass that, you will attend Phase II for about 6 months in Panama City Beach, FL. Upon graduation, you will be stationed with a dive detachment. There are 5 at Ft. Eustis, VA, and one at Schofield Barracks, HI. When you become a more senior diver, there are slots at the school house in Panama City Beach, as well as Ft. Leonardwood, and a spot at Rock Island Arsenol, IL. There is also a national guard team in Texas and one in Puerto Rico.

Pretty stupid for someone to say that Diving belong in the Navy its like saying combat troops fighting on the ground should only belong to the Army and Marines and Navy Seal should be dropped and put into Army SPF they all do a great job DIVERPRESSLEY is just a TROLL.

Navy can have the Sea! Army divers dive in more dangerous waters like the Tigris and Euphrates. If your talking smack its probably because you dont have the balls to be in either services dive MOS!
