They heal exceptionally well Tom, pretty extreme looking surgery but excellent outcome for the patient. These aggressive cancers literally eat away the poor cow, this would be a huge relief! Cheers!
Excellent vid! Focus was always on the subject and we could even hear you better! Works well with the captions on. Poor girl, she'll be feeling better soon. I'm glad you used lots of numbing on her, and maybe some pain meds tomorrow. Great job!
That’s was fascinating !! You made that look easy, and you got it done quick!! I’m going to guess antibiotics will be the answer to this question… Why no gloves? Thanks for another great video TakeCare and StaySafe ✌️
Nice job, although Id have liked a bit more of the zoom so I can see it better on my phone. Great description of the numbing, had to chuckle at the clippers, sure wish there was a 'perfect set'! What brands, if I can ask? Thanks for another great video!!

As a virtual vet sitting at home I’ve. eye removal from my chair and I can say it’s my least favorite procedure. C-sections, births, even abscesses are better than eye removal. It falls in the category of you do what you have to do and talk about it later.
It is a huge relief for the cow I think. They blow up quickly and must be pretty painful. They heal really really quickly and I believe the cows are pretty happy afterwards. I hope that helps! Cheers!
@@EnochtheCowVet awesome sir no words can be say to describe the way you care and do more than your best just for the sake of relieving and ensuring she all needed treatment to be cured . The way your explain each steps you are doing in details ( the how , why , when etc....) makes really instructive for the view you make it seems like something easy while in reality it is something where its demand lots of efforts and knowledge. But hats off sir I all your videos there's all way that passion ,care ,love and attention your have for the wellbeing of the animals that's prevails against all the odds . I noticed that you give your maximum not for the farmer , industry or because you were called to as it's your job but only for the sake of the animals for relieving from the pains and wellbeing as there are lot cases that you know it could have been prevented or cure at early stage if it was noticed or you were informed by the farm at the begins as lots of thing doesn't get bad just like that it could have been prevented from going to that stage if it was noticed or reported to your early . You are real hero sir it's an honour to watch your video and Thanks for that great care you have for the cattle.
Glad the Caine brothers paid a visit first. Poor girl...what's the adjustment like for them to a single eye? And I thihk my job sucks...... this one almost made me lose it.
Im in Baltimore Maryland, USA (roughly 30min drive n.e. from Washington DC) n the mullet fazed out here in the 90s, definitely by the mid 90s. They were cool while they lasted tho lmao we could get a three-fer! Three--fer the price of 1 since they were all the same cut ... The entire family (all 3 of us!😆lol) had one! 😆👊Lmfao
Poor thing. Its always the Herefords getting this mess! That gorgeous white face does them no favors there, does it?! I have a soft spot for the Herefords, having grown up with them. One of the sweeter tempered beef breeds, even with calved at heel. Had one mama BRING me her baby to show me, and i swear she was strutting😂!
I luv your videos but could you get a better microphone plz I can't hear you from all the wind lol 😅😅❤❤❤ but I do truly love all your videos very educational ❤❤❤ I do have a question when cow gets any kind of cancer is their meat still good to eat? Just wondering lol❤ ❤
The cancer was in the eye itself, so the eye would've had to be removed. In humans, scans that find eye cancer really early can sometimes allow for it to be treated with radiotherapy, but it's rare to catch it that early and almost always ends with innucliation, and even with radiothetapy there still potential vision loss anyway. Given cows don't have opticians or regular eye scans, or an option for radiotherapy, innucliation is the only realistic option. Cows get their eye cancer generally as a type of skin cancer.
If the cows stay in the hard how long can expect to stay there? Does she pass the cancer onto calfs? Is the a meat not edible for humans? Just wondering?
Normally they raise their last calf and then they exit the herd as there is a risk the other eye could develop cancer as well. The susceptibility is heritable. If she heals well (99% of the time the cancer doesn’t come back) she would be eligible for human consumption.
I thought you would’ve installed a drain. That’s not necessary? All that raw meat inside isn’t going to ooze and bleed? Or with something like this, the body will just re-absorb it.
Due to the exceptional blood supply to the head, these heal fantastically well. The closure is the hemostasis. I reckon a drain would create more risk, though some veterinarians due advocate their use. I’ve done hundreds of these with great success with this technique. Great question! Cheers!
The peanut gallery seems extremely loud today. I guess they're worried about the girl in the crusher? Edit: Shame on you for not offering her a glass eye! Now she won't be able to get a date for the cattle prom. D':
No, cancer cells are just cells which have accidentally been triggered to replicate in an uncontrolled manner. However, when detected at the abattoir, some or all of the animal is condemned. Cheers!
Reminds of the old school nurses when I was right out of school. Witnessed one packing a large stage 4 wound without gloves. I’m sure he has his reason just doesn’t look right. I still gave him a thumbs up seems like a caring and experienced Vet.
Once the cancer and eye were removed, she seemed more comfortable.
What would be awesome is to see how she is in 2-3 weeks.
Seems so brutal but necessary to make sure she is well. You can tell you love your job and really care for the cows
This cow was so calm. It’s like the cow knew he was getting help.
Lord thats hard to watch 😮. Thank God for people like him that can save these animals and provide some relief. That had to be painful

That cow didn't even try to move while he was numbing her up. What a good girl.
He is so humane with everything he does!
Poor mama🐮 I hope the cancer doesn't come back!
Thank God for people who are Doctors and vets , life would be even greater pain without them 🙏....
Dude, your vids never disappoint. One of the best out there!
Well done my friend
God bless that precious cow 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Sterling work! She’ll be much more comfortable now 🙏🏻
God damn that was impressive mate! Great work!
Such a sweet girl.

My God theyre subjected to such a hard life. Breaks my heart if i think about it too long
Bruh had his whole hand in there 😦😵💫🫠🫣
Hollow nice to hard work...
The cows had a moment of silence when that eye came out.
Poor girl! Glad it could be removed, praying he got it all. Do you think there are more cancers & illnesses in cows than a few hundred yrs ago?

Onya Knockers!!! Hope she's sweet now. Good job mate. Cheers Ausgranny 🇦🇺🇦🇺🤶🐂🐄🔪
I have never seen this before
Glad the Caine brothers paid a visit first. Poor girl...what's the adjustment like for them to a single eye? And I thihk my job sucks...... this one almost made me lose it.
They adjust exceptionally well, even completely blind cows cope pretty well. I am sure it is a huge relief for the patient as well. Cheers!
I got a cow with a blind eye, she does fine. Good enough to hook your ass. 😂

Sadly, Herefords are prone to developing SCC eye cancers. Dang it! I love them too!
They are my grandfather raised them in Kentucky. My mother, my aunt and I all showed them as kids..

Вы супер
Привет из России
Я ваш поклонник!
Y'all are making the ginger turn red. 😂
He is lovely! Really good fella!
Was she given long lasting pain relief? I can't imagine how it's going to feel when the numbing wears off😢
When you remove the eye, can the cancer still metastasize?
If you would have snipped it out a lot sooner, would she still have her right eye? Or did would the eye have had to come out eventually anyway?
The cancer was in the eye itself, so the eye would've had to be removed. Poor thing
The cow has eye cancer, how do you know if it spread to the rest of the body. Please explain?
I’m sure there’s a reason why he doesn’t wear gloves? I know it’s not a sterile environment but any other reason?
If the cows stay in the hard how long can expect to stay there?
Does she pass the cancer onto calfs?
Is the a meat not edible for humans?

Doc, Are you not afraid of working with cancerous tissue with bare hands?
Do you ever add sodium bicarbonate to the lidocaine to cut down the stinging?
I don’t, I do remember it being discussed but it might reduce the effectiveness?
I thought you would’ve installed a drain. That’s not necessary? All that raw meat inside isn’t going to ooze and bleed? Or with something like this, the body will just re-absorb it.

HI WOULD A DOG GET CANCER IF HE ATE THAT EYE.?
No, cancer cells are just cells which have accidentally been triggered to replicate in an uncontrolled manner. However, when detected at the abattoir, some or all of the animal is condemned. Cheers!
She needed more numbing
That is a lot of lignocaine. Too much can affect their heart by causing AV block, especially goats incidentally. She was well blocked. Cheers!
Why do you keep xooming in and out. Leave it zoomed in so we can see whats happening
😂😂😂😂😂 as if it's live 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm not getting any audio. Am I the only one?
I have audio-try refreshing the video maybe
Had to do a restart. Thanks!
The cattle were making so much noise. I had to mute the sound a bit. I don't know how you can stand it. 😢
Way to go your the best 👌 😊❤
Is she still going to be able to wear makeup and false eyelashes on that eye?
Put some gloves on man!
Youve never seen one of his videos have you? He's answered this before.
Reminds of the old school nurses when I was right out of school. Witnessed one packing a large stage 4 wound without gloves. I’m sure he has his reason just doesn’t look right. I still gave him a thumbs up seems like a caring and experienced Vet.
I enjoy your videos. You are a great Vet. My husband worked for a Vet in Gilmer Texas and you remind me of him. Are you from the United States?
I grew up in Wild Horse, Colorado, but I have lived in Australia for over 20 years. Cheers!
